I used to think that Pinkie Pie wasnt overly happy, when I heard this song as a kid it made me think that it effected her badly, that she was actually psychotic. She was trying her best to stay positive, constantly trying to hold onto that childhood energy and feeling of never slowing down, never being sad. She brought up the subject in her most recent video, on the history of the Brony community, and said that at the time she was young and didnt realize the connotations, and was using the word specifically in reference to hunchback of Notre dame, to which there are references scattered all over friendship is witchcraft. She feels really horrible about using it now, because she knows now that the Romani community see the word as a slur, and is kind of uncomfortable with all the tiktokers using this song for their videos because of the word! The creator of this song has said herself that it's a slur and has apologized for its usage and thus there is no need for debate on the subject. Jenny is a rad lady, and you should check out her video on the brony community she just put out! It's fascinating and just cool to hear about it from a person who was so involved in the fandom!
As I assume is the case for a lot of people after growing out of that MLP phase (I got in at the end of Season 3 and was very into it until halfway through Season 5), coming back to these older songs just reminds me that I'll never truly be able to remove this show from that special place in my heart.

I had a bunch of romani friends growing up, most of them asked to be referred to as gypsies over the more commonly used Traveller where im from because it was more specific to them as romanis not just a nomadic people. Was really confused seeing all this drama over it being a slur.

She brought up the subject in her most recent video, on the history of the Brony community, and said that at the time she was young and didnt realize the connotations, and was using the word specifically in reference to hunchback of Notre dame, to which there are references scattered all over friendship is witchcraft. She feels really horrible about using it now, because she knows now that the Romani community see the word as a slur, and is kind of uncomfortable with all the tiktokers using this song for their videos because of the word! So, a galloping blaze, a great fire, killed Pinkies parents, took her to the orphanage, yada yada. Now, about the ditch those roots, I think Pinkie might of actually been a Gypsy, before she went to the orphanage. As a rule in history, Gypsy's weren't the best people, and often looked down upon. Like hobo's in today's society. Thus, she would have been outcasted if she kept her roots from her Gypsy family. So, Dug a thousand holes, the menial labor that orphans from that time period had to do, lived happily with the other orphans, and now that it's been a long time, she had difficulty remembering them, but still remembers this song, as it helped her through the tragedy.
