Glad Sinner ends the year as world number 1. He totally deserve it. Next year will be very interesting with Alcaraz also wanting to reclaim his old number 1 spot.
Yes. He almost has enough points to qualify for the number 1 and number 8 spots in the finals. They should put him on both sides of the draw so he can play himself in the final.
While Djokovic must be praised for managing to almost qualify (he most likely will do it mathematically in a couple of weeks) at 37 years of age and the below-par season he has had (by his own standards), I believe it says more about the rest, than his own level. It goes to show that even in the twilight years of his career, he's still above the younger generations, Sinner and Alcaraz excluded - they are the standout players and probably will be for the next 10 years at least.
I came back after i read the news that Swiatek got his top spot overtaken by Sabalenka cuz Sabalenka lost 10 points while Swiatek 120 points, so Sabalenka is currently 9,706 points while Swiatek with 9,665 points. But, i don't understand why they both lost points despite neither of them have any points to defend until WTA Finals 2024?
Jannik mental strength is exceptional. To go through what he is going through, winning so much, is so mature, composed & grown-up for his age. A true champion ❤🔥

Saba winning a title and Djokovic getting to a final, which very few predicted:) Sinner is impressive once again. Gauff surprised me with her high level these 2 weeks. Machac was great as well!
Sinner has practically reached 12,000 points (4,800 more than the second Alcaraz), until the end of the year 1,590 expire while there are 3,000 available, however it goes he will be in the top among the number 1 at the end of the year for number of points immediately after the big3. Let's imagine where he would be with the 400 points of Indian Wells that were taken away from him and those of Madrid and Rome where he did not play because he was injured (plus other episodes in which he had physical problems)
@@vijayla21 No, I remember the great Andy well, but his almost 12,700 points could still be reached by Sinner unlike the over 15,000 of the big3, and in any case I meant that Sinner in this ranking is part of the group, immediately after the big3, that could be called the over 10k (where if I remember there is Sampras Agassi Medvedev and I don't remember who else)

And still we don't know if he'll win Bercy and atp finals, with what he could finish the year with 14k points, which is INHUMANE 😅 What a exceptional champion
Yeah, Sinner is now 5th highest with most ATP points, just a bit below Big4 highest points: 1. Djokovic 16950 points 2. Federer 15903 points 3. Nadal 15390 points 4. Murray 12685 points 5. Sinner 11920 points Still 765 points short below best of Murray's 52weeks, but yeah possibility is there to beat that at a next few tournaments.
I'm so shocked that Barbora Krejcikova has been absent so long after winning Wimbledon 2024 but she is qualified for WTA Finals? So it means every player who wants to be qualified for either ATP or WTA Finals must win at least 1 GS. Sadly, it's sometimes unfair for players like Zheng Qinwen and Navarro who have been participating many tournaments but one of them must be eliminated cuz of no grand slam. About Djokovic, he has 3,910 points so it should be enough to be qualified for ATP Finals 2024 cuz Alexander Zverev just collected 3,585 points but he was 7th for ATP Finals 2023. But Djokovic is still in bottom 7 cuz Rublev, Ruud, Minaur, Dimitrov, Tsitsipas, and Paul will join all ATP 250, 500 and Paris Masters 1000 for the sake of ATP Finals 2024! What hardworking players!
I definitely that it’s super unfair. A GS champion just needs to be in the Top 20 in the race. But if you take away those 2000 points, she’s literally no where near the top. I feel like it should be a certain point requirement instead of Top 20. Like they need at least 3000 points total, which is only an additional 1000 points. Otherwise, who knows how many undeserving players will qualify in the future
@@adimajumdar5219 That's right. Such system really discredits the players who work so hard to enter ATP/WTA Finals while another player who has won GS doesn't need to work so hard after then
You can't compare year over year points gained to qualify for ATP finals. It doesn't matter how many points Zverev gained last year to qualify. What matters is that if nobody below Djokovic in a race performs well in upcoming weeks and doesn't surpass him, then he qualifies. If 2 players surpass him by performing well, he won't. That saying, I hope he does qualify!

@@adimajumdar5219Prior to 2024, the rule was the 8th spot went to the player with 8th most points with the WTA having the discretion to override this rule and award that place to a GS tournament winner. I am not sure why the rule was changed. However, the irony was that in 2022 Rybakina could not play in the Final because the WTA refused to exercise this discretion. In Rybakina’s case, she finished about 15th because the WTA/ATP refused to award points for Wimbledon because of its boycott of Russian/Belarusian players. IMHO it should revert back to the previous rule just to cover the case of a player who was injured for a substantial period but was good enough to win a GS title. Nevertheless Navarro will probably get a 6 figure pay check for being the alternate (not bad for her second year on tour).
