I just finished a mile rebuild on a 1980 Suzuki GS850 - installed new float needles/housing/floats - followed the service manual and set the float heights to 22mm - (manual says 22.4 +/- 1mm). it runs fine unless you try to rapidly accelerate. It will bog down under a heavy throttle twist. It may be running lean and so I may need to re adjust the floats up (down rather) 1-2MM. so it will allow MORE fuel into the bowl.

Hi Nutu, please check the carburetor main jet is getting enough fuel to pump it to combustion chamber or not. Mostly the fuel is not getting pumped to combustion chamber when the throttle is raised.
Recently, carburettor in my classic 350 got changed. When I twist the throttle, it hesistates at certain rev range but past that, it starts picking up good. What is the problem? Is it the float height not properly set ?
Hi Sir, you can consider it for this problem(I guess carb is new then no problem with it) along with few points: so the pilot jet not supplying sufficient fuel to combustion chamber so it'll be lagging untill the main jet takes responsibility to send fuel into the combustion chamber. This is why we use choke, where choke sends huge amounts of fuel from different passage into chamber. I suspect few things- the height of needle required adjustment or the idle not set properly to heat up the engine. Fuel screw requires adjustment and accelerator free play adjustment required. Please check all above and I guess problem will be gone.
My honda dio bogs on cold start and if I let go of throttle if will stall. When stalled it won't start till i switch ignition on and off. Ignition key set is new, battery is new. Why does this happen? It switches off in idle at signals. Is it the cdi?
Hi Sir, dio or any bikes have this problem and if you look at your manual then it's written to warm up engine before using at first start. If you're not maintaining proper fuel like above 1 litre this is a cause as well
@PavanKumarHB I warm up the scooter for atleast 5 minutes every morning, and fuel is always minimum half full. Even after warming it switches off at signal and does not start. I can hear the motor cranking. I can kick 10 times but it won't start. The problem is not that it switches off once starting, it doesn't start at all. Then when i turn key to off then on, it starts first time. Even after warming up it shows this issue.

@@PavanKumarHB I installed new spark plug last Saturday, carburetted engine so no injectors, checked fuel line, no issues, fuel flow is good, did decarbonisation 1 year ago, new battery only 2 months old, i checked voltage its about 12.8 v, running it getting upto 14.4v, RR is good. The sound is exactly similar to this video and it also behaves like this. But it only starts if i switch ignition off and on, so definitely something electrical is resetting every time i do that. Otherwise runs very smoothly no unnecessary sounds at cruising
@alexanderkuruvilla3094 so you checked everything. Now check chain tension. So the bogging is also related to incorrect valve adjustment. Even slight valve incorrect setting leads to delay putting waste gas out of chamber and this can cause issues with bogging. As per you, there's electric issue. From battery to cdi unit check the wiring and from cdi unit to ignition key check wiring.

Hi Sir, I could be the reason of wrong setting of valve clearance and bad clutch adjustment. Few other things are incorrect needle height and clogging pilot jets and accelerator freeplay in loose.
@@PavanKumarHB hey, it got fixed, the issue was the carburetor diaphragm, which became stiff and it was like a flower. The issue started a year ago and no one could fix it. Somehow last month one neighbour mechanic fixed it 👍🏻
Hi Sudhir, this problem shows up - when the bike is stalled for more than 1 week and in rainy conditions and in winter cold condition, especially between 3 AM and 9 AM.
You tried this method? If yes then - 1) first check the tappet valve clearance 2) change engine oil recommend by your manufacturer(don't use other engine oil, use oil mentioned in service manual 3) check health of igniter/spark plug.

This is very rear problem. This need to be checked with trusted mechanic whether he is from authorized service center or from local shop. Take it to trusted service man and I recommend to stay with mechanic and know why this is happening daily.
Hi Sir, yes float plays major role in sending fuel through pilot jet to combustion chamber. If its not set properly then bike boggs and one more thing that effects is needle height in carburettor (video is available in my channel). Check both float and needle height, if still problem exists then set the clutch freeplay and valve Clarence.

Hi Sir, check these: 1. Capacitor health which is attached to rectifier unit. 2. Check rectifier for is good or not. 3. Check if any vacuum leakages in carburettor passage. 4. Clean and dry and insert air filter. 5. Adjust accelerator freeplay.
For 1 and 2, you need multimeter to check along with a technician. I don't think even authorised service center people have that knowledge to check them so I can suggest to check it with electronic technician. For 5, I have video already there in my RUclips channel.
Hi Pristine, yes this happens with gear bikes too. This is because the engine itself runs without giving the throttle at this time with high compression and when the climbing ends, the compression suddenly drops which causes the engine to stop. To avoid this we turn off engine while climbing down.
I own Platina exhaustec 2006 model When I start the engine and give slight throttle, it boggs and when I use the choke also it boggs, usually in other bikes when choke is used rpm raises, here it turns off. I've a confusion in finding out the culprit whether the pilot jet or the float.
Hi Joseph, choke doesn't have any connections with pilot or main jets. Choke pipe is different. You check the needle position and the passageway of Carburetor to engine compartment. If it's cracked or leaking then replace it.
I have pulsar 135 my carburettor get fuel leakage from drain pipe after servicing it and i go to the several mechanics for fixing it but they all say that u have to replace it with the new one but the new is expensive😢 plz tell me if anyone can help
As i understand the metal tang adjuster on the float bowl barely touches the float valve button so its not loose or not compressed then when there's fuel the float bowl adjust in the right position
FI are more better then carb but fi system need more care as they get more issues compared to carb. I would suggest you to take it out from the engine then diagnose for dirt and clog. Let me know once it's done, we will further continue if cleaning didn't work.

Clean airfilter. Adjust tappet valve clearance by yourself. Also there are many reasons, you can send video to my Instagram with problems you're facing.

Hi sir, in this case you need to check if the throttle cable is tight and also the idle screw on your bike. If it's tight then loosen the idle screw until it gets to 1000-1200 rpm.
Check the passageway between carb and engine for any vaccum leaks. Sometimes the CDI unit might be the problem or rectifier. If both of these are good then check for clog with pilot jet. If issue still persists then adjust butterfly valve needle in carb head. All the solution videos were already uploaded in my channel last year. Check them.
Hi, once check the accelerator freeplay then check the needle position. If nothing works then get checked the CDI unit and rectifier unit from a technician using multimeter.
Hi Melvin, fz carb operating method will be different. It's not a good idea to interchange the mechanical parts because this will cause major issues in future.
Hi Hari, 1)clean the air filter 2) check Carburetor main jet for any dust inside of it. 3) replace engine oil, only use the manufacturer recommended grade and brand. 4) check rectifier and a medium sized capacitor connected to it for any faulty. 5) check spark plug life
Hi David, lean bogging may be a issue from bad rectifier unit or a capacitor connected to it. Coming to Carburetor, check the vacuum leak within the passage way of carb and engine.

On a 03 KTM 450 after complete top end rebuild , cylinder re sleeve, new piston & new titanium valves and new adjustable accelerator pump with every thing tuned and running perfect. one day after a few months my muffler started melting my side plastic muffler cover, then a few days later the bike starts to lose power at higher RPM. Hi sir, this may be due to titanium valves which creates enormous heat within the combustion chamber. But this needs to be investigated to come to any conclusions because the engine is completely rebuild. Titanium valves are made for high end racing engines for high rpm during race. They need huge maintenance and inspection on timely basis else engine may get siege.
The first video was taken long back and when I got more questions on morning start I used that old video at starting and made new video on solution. First video is when the battery life is full, end of video is when I made 2 years after at that time the battery is dead
I was checking my carb and notice that the float pin actuator was pitted causing the needle to stall and sometimes stick. I took some 600 gran sand paper and cleaned it up. Works fine now.

How do you get to acceleration issues, if the bike quits when let go of the clutch? Also. Nobody can diagnose your shit, in the RUclips comments section. Go pay a mechanic for they know. Or go get that education.

I have similar issue but my bike does not shut off it will ride but I dnt get enough power to go fast as soon as I move off I have to change gear or it stuck at one slow speed however If i ride very slowly I dnt have an issue at all . Any suggestions?
Hi, I have experienced this when I used castrol power engine oil for my bike which is other than the oil mentioned in my bike manual. I always recommend you to use only manufacturer recommend engine oil. This is also caused when your oil is old and tappet clearance is not correct.
I checked a guy about it he tried everything we knew nothing works , till he plugged off the gear coil (the one that sends the display to display screen ) then it started working fine he then played around with it a little reconnect it and it start working fine , I dnt even have a clue what he did ( now the LED clock starts to malfunction) kmt headache.
Hi Grizz, I detected that the float is not placed in right way and adjusted it in such a way that the pilot jet gets enough fuel to move the bike ahead when we ride.
I know this is an older vid. Maybe you still check it ? Mine floods out. It runs good in mid and top end and idles good too, but when I sometimes begin to accerate- it bogs and then the float bowl floods. It's very touchy when it does that and then it just will not start. I never have to use the choke on it either- it usually just starts right up. Can it be that the choke is stuck ?
Hi, I'm active with comments. Check for the cause of blockage within the carburettor internal unit. Also check the butterfly valve opening and closing mechanism.
There's more to these carburators than the float. The needle and seat are a big factor when the needle wears out it will overflow into the air box like it did mine.the seat was worn so it was new carburator time. I'm not getting into anymore check out the other videos. 👊👏😀

Hi Abishek, don't believe mechanic, it got nothing to do with new carburettor until there is defect in carburettor or is damaged physically. Try to find the problem using water using straw to check the jets are working properly.

Question for, Im helping a friend with a polaris 500 predator carburetor issue, the initial complaint was only start and run on choke, would not accelerate but stumble flat out upon trying to increase rpm. He brought the carburetor to me, I opened it up found a plugged main jet and slightly plugged pilot jet / emulsion tube, all clean now and reinstalled, now it will start on choke and idle off of choke but as soon as you try to accelerate it stumbles flat , the diaphragm slide does move up but kind of bounces as it stumbles to rev up... What is going on here, no vacuum leaks on the intake boot either...
That’s exactly what my Suzuki fa50 does. I took the carburetor apart and ran it through a sonic cleaner and it ran fine on half throttle for a few days before it quit working again. I just ordered a new float online hopefully that helps

@@PavanKumarHB iam not useing Bajaj oil but I use servo Indian oil i used it for twise there is no issue this time only iam facing this still it's oil problem and also i didn't mention I had self issue i checked all battry , switch ,self motor but all are good but facing may be in the engine starting area it must be tight because when I run a bike and use self it will work but not in the starting
Bajaj oil's chemical composition is different from other oil even if it's same grade. After this star using the bajaj oil then you'll feel the difference in power. Try this- open and close the fuel tank cap before you start the bike everytime. It may be air gap problem causing starting problem.
Noted your point. And the needle situated at the tip of the float, in this video you can see where I did bend the portion and that's attached to some pin and it's the float needle.
Beside my new Apollo RFZ bogging when giving it more than 1/2 throttle it recently bogged so much that it died on me u had to walk a little at retry it and it worked and then it died then it started up when I got back but keeps bogging should this be the issue? Should I adjust the c clip on the throttle needle so it gives it more gas? Thanks 👍🏽
I've got a hyosung Aquila gv250. Carbs are perfectly clean and jets are clear. It dies wen I give throttle unless I spray the carbs, then it revs normal. I noticed one float is higher than the other float just barely. The fact that one is high and one is lower makes me think my issue is floats are out of adjustment.
Hi Shane, I see this could be due to non flow of gas through the carb. Also you need to check the butterfly valve and how much it's opening. Adjust needle of required. Check my playlist in it I have uploaded much more videos regarding bogging issues.
Try these: 1. Use manufacturer recommended engine oil. 2. Clean carburetor main jet and pilot jet. 3. Set the fuel mixture screw between 1 & half and 2 & half turns outwards. 4. Adjust accelerator freplay 5. Check and adjust tappet valve clearance. 6. Check air filter for any clogs 7. I have already made few videos on bike start issue, you can get them on my channel.
Am facing same issue in Yamaha zr since from 1 week during first start .... If i raise accelerator little and leave, for many time then the engine starts up. After riding if i stop the vehicle and starts again, there is no such problem. Only I face during first start and also I get same issue it the vehicle stops more than 3 hours. Hi Sir, yes float plays major role in sending fuel through pilot jet to combustion chamber. If its not set properly then bike boggs and one more thing that effects is needle height in carburettor (video is available in my channel).
Check both float and needle height, if still problem exists then set the clutch freeplay and valve Clarence.

Hi Sir, check these:
1. Capacitor health which is attached to rectifier unit.
2. Check rectifier for is good or not.
3. Check if any vacuum leakages in carburettor passage.
4. Clean and dry and insert air filter.
5. Adjust accelerator freeplay.

How to do point 5
For 1 and 2, you need multimeter to check along with a technician. I don't think even authorised service center people have that knowledge to check them so I can suggest to check it with electronic technician.

Hi Pristine, yes this happens with gear bikes too. This is because the engine itself runs without giving the throttle at this time with high compression and when the climbing ends, the compression suddenly drops which causes the engine to stop.
To avoid this we turn off engine while climbing down.
I own Platina exhaustec 2006 model
When I start the engine and give slight throttle, it boggs and when I use the choke also it boggs, usually in other bikes when choke is used rpm raises, here it turns off.
I've a confusion in finding out the culprit whether the pilot jet or the float.

Hi Joseph, choke doesn't have any connections with pilot or main jets. Choke pipe is different.
You check the needle position and the passageway of Carburetor to engine compartment. If it's cracked or leaking then replace it.

As i understand the metal tang adjuster on the float bowl barely touches the float valve button so its not loose or not compressed then when there's fuel the float bowl adjust in the right position

FI are more better then carb but fi system need more care as they get more issues compared to carb.
I would suggest you to take it out from the engine then diagnose for dirt and clog. Let me know once it's done, we will further continue if cleaning didn't work.

Fuel injectors have different mechanism, try to open the injectors and clean and check for any clog.

Hi, float will be plastic and the pin or metal part attached to it will need to be bend to adjust.

Hi sir, in this case you need to check if the throttle cable is tight and also the idle screw on your bike. If it's tight then loosen the idle screw until it gets to 1000-1200 rpm.

Check the passageway between carb and engine for any vaccum leaks.
Sometimes the CDI unit might be the problem or rectifier. If both of these are good then check for clog with pilot jet. If issue still persists then adjust butterfly valve needle in carb head.

Hi, once check the accelerator freeplay then check the needle position. If nothing works then get checked the CDI unit and rectifier unit from a technician using multimeter.

On a 03 KTM 450 after complete top end rebuild , cylinder re sleeve, new piston & new titanium valves and new adjustable accelerator pump with every thing tuned and running perfect. one day after a few months my muffler started melting my side plastic muffler cover, then a few days later the bike starts to lose power at higher RPM. Hi sir, this may be due to titanium valves which creates enormous heat within the combustion chamber.
But this needs to be investigated to come to any conclusions because the engine is completely rebuild.
Titanium valves are made for high end racing engines for high rpm during race. They need huge maintenance and inspection on timely basis else engine may get siege.

I was checking my carb and notice that the float pin actuator was pitted causing the needle to stall and sometimes stick. I took some 600 gran sand paper and cleaned it up. Works fine now.

Hi, I have experienced this when I used castrol power engine oil for my bike which is other than the oil mentioned in my bike manual.
I always recommend you to use only manufacturer recommend engine oil.
This is also caused when your oil is old and tappet clearance is not correct.
Also check for clutch plates, they may have worn out and resulting in low Power.
I checked a guy about it he tried everything we knew nothing works , till he plugged off the gear coil (the one that sends the display to display screen ) then it started working fine he then played around with it a little reconnect it and it start working fine , I dnt even have a clue what he did ( now the LED clock starts to malfunction) kmt headache.

Hi Grizz, I detected that the float is not placed in right way and adjusted it in such a way that the pilot jet gets enough fuel to move the bike ahead when we ride.

Mine floods out. It runs good in mid and top end and idles good too, but when I sometimes begin to accerate- it bogs and then the float bowl floods. It's very touchy when it does that and then it just will not start.
I never have to use the choke on it either- it usually just starts right up. Can it be that the choke is stuck ?
Hi, I'm active with comments. Check for the cause of blockage within the carburettor internal unit. Also check the butterfly valve opening and closing mechanism.
There's more to these carburators than the float. The needle and seat are a big factor when the needle wears out it will overflow into the air box like it did mine.the seat was worn so it was new carburator time. I'm not getting into anymore check out the other videos. 👊👏😀

Hi Abishek, don't believe mechanic, it got nothing to do with new carburettor until there is defect in carburettor or is damaged physically.
Try to find the problem using water using straw to check the jets are working properly.
Hi, in my bike R15 v1, i have the problem of power loss while raise sudden acceleration. Please tell me one solution to it. Its fuel injection type engine.
Question for, Im helping a friend with a polaris 500 predator carburetor issue, the initial complaint was only start and run on choke, would not accelerate but stumble flat out upon trying to increase rpm. He brought the carburetor to me, I opened it up found a plugged main jet and slightly plugged pilot jet / emulsion tube, all clean now and reinstalled, now it will start on choke and idle off of choke but as soon as you try to accelerate it stumbles flat , the diaphragm slide does move up but kind of bounces as it stumbles to rev up... What is going on here, no vacuum leaks on the intake boot either...
That’s exactly what my Suzuki fa50 does. I took the carburetor apart and ran it through a sonic cleaner and it ran fine on half throttle for a few days before it quit working again. I just ordered a new float online hopefully that helps

I too faced the same problem when I used different company oil. But when I again started to use Manufacturer suggested engine oil then my bike is running like Jet plain.

But I use the same grade recommend
Bajaj oil's chemical composition is different from other oil even if it's same grade.
After this star using the bajaj oil then you'll feel the difference in power.
Try this- open and close the fuel tank cap before you start the bike everytime. It may be air gap problem causing starting problem.

Beside my new Apollo RFZ bogging when giving it more than 1/2 throttle it recently bogged so much that it died on me u had to walk a little at retry it and it worked and then it died then it started up when I got back but keeps bogging should this be the issue? I've got a hyosung Aquila gv250. Carbs are perfectly clean and jets are clear. It dies wen I give throttle unless I spray the carbs, then it revs normal. I noticed one float is higher than the other float just barely. The fact that one is high and one is lower makes me think my issue is floats are out of adjustment.
Hi Shane, I see this could be due to non flow of gas through the carb. Also you need to check the butterfly valve and how much it's opening. Adjust needle of required. Check my playlist in it I have uploaded much more videos regarding bogging issues.

My 06 sportster xl1200r is havin same issue found the breather line sliced replaced that stilll issues so guess i am taking apart the carb today
Try these:
1. Use manufacturer recommended engine oil.
2. Clean carburetor main jet and pilot jet.
3. Set the fuel mixture screw between 1 & half and 2 & half turns outwards.
4. Adjust accelerator freplay
5. Check and adjust tappet valve clearance.
6. Check air filter for any clogs
7. I have already made few videos on bike start issue, you can get them on my channel.
