I never know what to say about Anderson .Paak’s music because it’s just been consistently great at a similar level for like a decade now. I’ve almost become jaded to how good he is. Him and Knxwledge are a perfect team. I hope this is far from their last album.
This amount of groove should be illegal I think... I think I've all but accepted that .Paak will never be a huge icon, but I can settle for the "your favorite artist's favorite artist" tier (shoutout Chappell Roan). He literally has not missed since the Breezy Lovejoy days. It's insane the quality of his catalog! I was very intrigued to see what he would say on this album considering his fairly public, messy divorce scandal. He, of course, addresses it with the same amount of humor and wit that he's always had. Which is great. .Paak has never been my go to for really vulnerable cuts, but he does a great job being pretty poetic about his feelings (or what I imagine are his feelings) on the relationship. Knxwledge is great, as usual. Wish he was utilized more by more people. One of the most underappreciated producers out right now!
I still think yes lawd is better (minus that Morty interlude). Mainly because Knxwledge's beats were grimy and dusty in a way they aren't in this record. Also, Yes Lawd's general theme of "I can hang out with a lot of women, but I'm still faithful to my wife, even though it's very hard" is gone now that he is divorced. This record is still really good, but I don't think they completely came back like they never left Also that Dodgers line didn't age well, did he record that in 2019?

I would only say Venice, but even then it has some very good songs on it.

Yes Lawd is still my favorite too, but that’s truly one of my favorite albums ever, would be insane to top that one
