  • A look at the dramatic coastal erosion from Hornsea up to Bridlington, Yorkshire! I wonder what another 150 years of battle between land and sea will bring? #Bridlington #Hornsea #Yorkshire #Coastal #Erosion #animation

These videos are beautifully done. Mesmerising and rather sad.

We’re actually learning about how seas and rivers erode/deposit land in GSCE geography! It’s pretty interesting, despite reading graphs being a little tricky.

Its quite eye opening the further back one goes - I might look into retreating/ melting glaciers as a side project too

Have a look at Happisburgh in Norfolk as lots of land has gone from there as well as this part of the same coastline . I home educated my oldest son and I taught him about land being lost to the sea but also the Fenland which was taken from the sea in the 1600's and where many dykes and pumping stations lead water into safe places so flooding didn't occur.

How many yards or meters on average was washed out? (2or3 hundred)

Reclaiming land from the sea, has always been a thing.

It was showing land being lost to the sea, not reclamation of land.

We used to cycle to Hornsea many times when I was 14-15, also by train, and now by car. The seafront has got good defences now so should be ok for a few years. We were in Brid. (as we call it) a few months ago and Filey last week. Thanks for this interesting update on our beautiful coastline 😍
