In the tourist industry the wages are just enough to get by... that if you do not take extra shifts and work holidays, but if you have a family and work 9-5 or so, it is quite difficult. So a tip is very much appreciated. When I was working as a housekeeper and waitress, it really made my day when someone tipped by tourists! ❤ but Icelanders never tip while in Iceland
@@dweuromaxx We have very decent wages, as long as you don’t look at the cost of living. The cost of housing crisis seriously eats away at our wages, we also have high import costs and taxes which lead to high costs of goods and high inflation has come back to haunt us (due to the government going overboard with it’s covid stimulus efforts).
Funniest comment so far because it's true, he got tricked so much😅 (I've been living here for 8 years, OG commenter is not kidding, the majority of people here do not do any of what she claimed is done here "everday")
1:42 you complained that the tap water here (basically only in the capital) smelled a bit funny while Im pretty sure I got chlorine poisoning after drinking a 2 glasses of tap water in northern england, I tasted pool water for days and took about a week or 2 to recover

When a visitor is offered the fermented shark, he or she should do what the vast majority of the locals do in the same situation: Say "Thanks, but NO" - unless you are an adventurous soul, ready to try ANYTHING. Most Icelanders NEVER touch the stuff.

Brant, you definitely should do a video in Istanbul. On the Bosporus strait with one foot on Europe and other on Asia, the meeting place of two cultures.
Lovely, now you can have your typical Icelandic "Girls-out" day whenever you want, Brad. The only thing in this video that average Icelanders actually do, is go to the public swimming pools. Most people would knock you out if you tried the cheek kissing thing and saying "Go Dying" to people on the street they would probably run away screaming.
Oh Brant, the poor hosts. I hope that you've found a lot more of pleasant things when the camera was off. 😂 How about Finland or France for the next trip?
“People actually make a really decent wage in Iceland.” (Quote of the Century?) ❤️
Do you agree?

I think the Icelandic folks have got it all figured out! ❤ we should all be so lucky!
Nice tour, and Ingunn was a great host!
She tricked him to do a lot of things we Icelanders never do 😂

As a Belgian I also have already an Icelandic name, I did eat a very small piece of hákarl, and I went swimming in Jöklusárlón in winter.

Tap water is safe to drink in Iceland
Ingunn is a cutie ❤
I enjoyed the host’s comic delivery

Brant is starting to become a meme.
Haha, the shark must be really quite intense. Chapeau Brant for giving it a try and take a plunge into the cold water 👏
Shark isnt that bad
You did great and I would like to travel to Iceland now 😊
You should!
Wow Iceland. Australians don't like the cold unless it's snowboarding in Vancouver.
Brant, you definitely should do a video in Istanbul. On the Bosporus strait with one foot on Europe and other on Asia, the meeting place of two cultures.
Thanks for tips!
It's not a narrow strait, you can see both sides, but cargo ships passing through it . Taking a local ferry is the best way to enjoy the view

nobody in Iceland believes in elves 💀
