One thing Dave Lane is best know for is his time on Wraysbury no.1. Fishing the lake in its infancy and landing the once British Record Mary not once but twice, along side Mary's Mate and many of the other well known iconic carp that made their residency in the famous Colne Valley gravel pit.
Well we thought it would be a good idea for Mr Lane to have walk round Wraysbury and tell a few tales from days gone past. Our camera man captures him reminiscing on a period of angling he will never forget.
What a brilliant film, so glad the old guard of anglers are all telling their stories, across many channels, it’s great hearing them all talk in depth about “ way back when “ I’ve read many of the books out already,, but never tire of hearing the accounts first hand. 💯🙏☮️
Really enjoyed listening to this. I loved the bit where he showed his rods set up and his back rests was 3 sticks. I really wish we fished in a less tackle tart era. We all take it to seriously now with the tackle we think we need. This man caught Mary on the most basic set up sleeping under the stars with no camo sleeping bag in sight.
There aren't many that can tell a story like Mr Lane. Great film guys, definitely worth the wait. Hope he gets the chance to do some more like this for Solar.
He tells stories every week mate on his patreon, black ⚫ mirror, Sonning etc👌
that was really really good, great work to everyone involved.
Brilliant, can listen to Dave all day, great video guys well done. 👍 👌
Fantastic storys and filming and absolute fantastic fish. Keep them coming Dave.
Kevin maddox, lee jackson, dave lane all heros of fishing in my opinion. You all brought carp fishing to the masses and taught us things about watercraft we would never have thought about. It's not the rigs or the bait. If they ain't there you can't catch em. Good on ya laney
An absolute legend of a carp angler with some truly amazing stories loved every minute of it👌
Tip top content, love watching Mr Lane, a legendary fisherman and raconteur.
Squadged it! Ace. Wonderful this Dave🍻
Love Dave’s stories, I could listen for hours.
Quality film, great stories, look forward hopefully to more
I recall reading all this in Carp Talk and Carpworld as it happened, then got first edition of the book. The great pre internet days.
Still, carp gossip moved as fast as electric back then. Sir Pete's, with Skidmore, Cumpstone, Ball and others.
What fascinated me was the big leather and the 'odd uns'
Great too see your doing well Dave and a great video as always
Solar plz get dave to do more videos like this for you he tells such a good story it almost feels like I was there with him 😂😂
Love it, more of this please 🙏.
Thank you for this Dave Iam on the hut slabs right now with mates had a few and the fish are stunning 🤩…….
Brilliant Dave. The greatest carp angler ever. All the Subsurface crew..... this man would catch from the Yateley car park lake.... all the circuit waters if he chose to fish them.
Awesome thanks sir Dave 🍺👍🏼
Brilliant dave 👏
Dave, listened to your COVID book reading sessions, great to hear the stories again from the actual swims that made the history and why we love carp fishing. Never fished there, I was fishing Kent, Darenth Valley complex’s. Very much the same history. Thanks Solar for the production.
Great film gents with a great story teller 👍
What I would give to have been there back in the day with Dave what a laugh it must have been
Dave & Solar = 👌👌👌👌👌👌
You mean Dave and whoever will pay for his fishing, this guy has no loyalty, sell his mum for a bag of boilies
@@emperium6224 surely just trying to make a living like the rest of us no?
Love it👍
Those drone shots are breathtaking. I wonder if there are still places waiting to be discovered that will give some lucky angler a chance to experience that same wildness and mystery. I doubt it to be honest. Lakes have become much more managed and controlled than even a few decades ago. I'll keep scouring google earth for those patches of blue, you never know. ⭕
Your right, wild unspoilt lakes with mystery are very few and far between nowadays, the rivers are now the place if you want solitude and mystery .
Such a good video!
Great vid really enjoyed it
One of the original wrasbury dons big up Dave
Original? Dont think so....many anglers were there doing it before Laney.
I've watched all the stories on here regarding wrasbury during lockdown but every time u talk about this lake it never fails impress me ,the fish way back that u caught at that time anglers could only dream of,49 lb back then was off the scale and the way u fished (no rules etc)again was exciting and only 20 fish! Most anglers wouldn't survive a venue like that nowadays lol...👌👍
Awesome
Some fantastic times that a lucky few really started putting carp fishing on the map even though it was the secret squirrel era.
I think Chris Ball might have caught the leather in the mid eighties. If I remember right he caught 3 fish off the top one afternoon, cluster, Mallins and a leather all around mid twenties. Something like that anyway!
That big leather could be the legendry Waddle ...... Still waiting 🐟🐟
Mega 🙌🙌
Absolutely amazing laney at his best what a great and legendary angler he is quality 👏
i would love to know what originals are left in both pits now, including the stockies that rmc put in towards the end, and the last captures ?
is king fungus still around ?
heard a few bits from one or two i know fishing there on the last days, but never heard about any of the A team fish, or the odd'uns being found dead ? or even seen in the water,
great film though dave, i really enjoy vids like this,
Subbed coz of Laney.
👍
Hello 🤗🤗🤗👋👋
Mr Lane. Hope your well Buddy. TT.
🍻🍻🍻👍
Woka woka woka woka... 😂.. legendary tales.. (Winnie the poo)
Lane in the solar team now? Hope so, well done solar, he was wasted at tfg
Laney is a legend, oh to have been fishing in the 90`s when the likes of Laney and Chilly were just doing what they enjoy without all the hang ups of sponsorship etc.
It's when I began carp fishing. Only a teenager at the time but it was simple, uncomplicated. I grew up fishing Linear Fisheries before anyone really knew about it. Fond memories.
@@paulgeddert6125I remember the matt Hayes vids on linear there was hardly anyone on the lakes, simpler times
@@johnnybegood9560 I loved it back then. Swims were all natural grassy spots, fishing uncomplicated, and really not very busy / known of. I don't really have the time to fish / carp fish much now but feel lucky to have had my time in that era 😊
@@paulgeddert6125 yes I agree with you Paul, when I went there myself to st John's it was still like that - no labelled swims just grass 😃 Im still as keen today, there are plenty of lakes like that mainly on quiet local club tickets, I stick to them.. I don't see anyone and it's just angler vs fish albeit they are not huge but I love it that way, the original spirit of carping can still be found 😃
Isn't this an old piece?
Dave lanes Matt hayes bio dad. Either that or Dave’s his older brother cos look at the old pic of Dave with Mary n tell me there’s no resemblance

Utter crap. Anyone fishing hammered venues for known and named Carp needs their angling head looking at. Sad.
