The FPP's Stocks 8mm, Super 8 and 16mm movie film - filmphotograph...
Michael, I loved the podcast. I only shoot 16mm. I've had my Bolex for over 40 years. I've had Super8 cameras too but I always go back to 16. Your selection of films are the best. Fortunately my camera shoots both single and double perf so I can take advantage of the entire stock. Now being retired I have more time to enjoy my hobby
so glad to hear "Super8 is king at weddings" , because I just picked up a camera a month ago on a local film festival, tested a roll of 50d (i went overexposed since the camera thinks its ASA25). And now I just ordered some boxes of 50d +nd9 and 500t for my wedding this september.
Great show, love every minute of it. My favorite toy is the Bolex Rex H16, Took it with me to London, Scotland and Germany. Shot 7 rolls of film. Left the digital camera at home. 🤭🤭🤭. I own a Cine-Kodak Model K 16mm, Cine-Kodak Eight, 4 Bolex 8mm, Cine-Kodak Reilant 8mm, Two Keystone K8/K36, Keystone A-12 16mm and a Bauer C8 Super8. Just love cameras. That's not even the SLR/Medium/Large Format.... Keep up the wonderful work.✌
Can't wait for part 2 of this talking about repairing your own cameras.
Also where can I buy leader/dummy film to test out projectors or cameras?
I would love a part 2!
Im tellin' ya, you guys should check out the doc out there on Jacques Bolsey, creator of the Bolex and the other Bolsey still cameras. It's his granddaughter, who happens to be a filmmaker, discovering her famous grandfather's legacy that her family never talked about. She interviews people all over in Europe piecing together Jacques' compelling immigrant story, filmmakers that started on Bolex... it's good stuff! Called "Beyond the Bolex"
(Appears) to not yet be streaming in the US. - Mike
John, "...millions of housewives waiting to hear how we can separate eggs..." -- an Oscar-nominated performance!
I have a double 8 camera that I initially wanted to use, but I decided to just get a cheap 16mm magazine camera instead, because the price the difference between the the two film bundles wasn't that much.
Great to see this Talk, still Enjoy reversal Film... double 8 ( standard 8 in uk ) fomopan and about 1 reel of super 8 100 D , not tried negative film will have to give it ago
Very very interesting & inspiring 👍🏻
I've had this idea to share, why not shoot indoors your projector turning on with some film in then use this film , i.e get it developed & edit this to your existing film ( reversal ) then this can be your intro after the white leader,
Hee hee hee -- The Little Rascals Of Super 8! Now you all are the Our Gang of Film Photography!
Very important discussion, thanks for this video, as I was testing out the last minute of Ektachrome at dusk on auto exposure super8 camera (not modern enough to reach the film ISO) and it came out as expected, heavily underexposed, because I didn't have the lights. I was expecting this result, because I was trying to turn up the LED, but couldn't find the intensity option. but now Im sure, if I ever want to shoot Ektachrome in low light, I better have lots of light bulbs. But otherwise, love the film for golden hours in a colorful location
I have emailed you guys (FPP) in the past about you guys having an online 8mm movie festival/contest. I realize you guys probably have very full plates. So now, after battling some health issues (and winning by the way). I along with the help of my son are going to put one together. He is one of the four partners that put on the Sin City Horror Festival in Vegas, so he knows the logistics of putting one on. Right now the Grand Prize will be a fully functional, CLA’d very near mint Bolex P-1 in the original box, with a near mint original leather case. Still don’t have a Super 8mm prize yet, but hopefully soon. I will send an email with more details.
Now, on the projection of Ektachrome, I discovered it does project very nicely on an older projector. However, a friend converted one to take an L.E.D. bulb, it did not look as good. So, I assume it does have to do with the tungsten lights warm color.
Secondly , this comment is coming from a Stephen…lol, truth!
Matt! When and where is this camera auction????
From 'The President's Analyst' -- TPC now means The Projection Company.... (who will get this reference????)
