This is one of my favorite songs from this album, though I do love all of Blackmore's Night's songs. Song: Cartouche - Blackmore's Night Picture: wallhere.com/e...
"Cartouche" If I share this with you never speak a word They would never understand if they ever heard Gemini, Capricorn, rising in the east Dancing through the witchwood we began to sing... In between dark and light in the underworld Wrapped around your finger like a string of pearls Smiling face, empty hand, 7 golden rings Dancing through the starlight we began to sing... Ahh, still I hear the whisper..."Cartouche"... Caramel colored leaves spiral in the air Diving right into the ground 'round the winding stair Stories carved out of wood, jester and the king Dancing through the moonlight, we began to sing Ahh, still I hear the whisper..."Cartouche"... Memories, black and white, hide behind the glass In the mirrors and the smoke, its all fading fast Written word, turn the card winter into spring Dancing through the witchwood we began to sing... Ahh, Ahh, still I hear the whisper..."Cartouche"...
Folk is a pretty broad genre, I'm not necessarily surprised. To be folk music it has to have a historical tone which depends on the the region the music is from. Chinese folk music typically has loud gongs noises and bellowing flutes, where as the Pakistan or Kazakhstan folk is generally very fast and include a lot of percussion parts.

Natszerasza Song Meaning: Cartouche was the name of a french bandit from the 18th century. Together with his gang he roamed the area around Paris and got famous - and popular - by his clever way of stealing: Whenever he robbed somebody he made sure he amused this person by jokes and pranks because Cartouche knew he'd be likely forgiven if he was the "amusing" thief and not the "scary" one. Thus noblemen and citizens liked him a lot and eagerly listened to the descriptions of his robberies. Unfortunately the magistrates didn't like him at all, so Cartouche was sentenced to death 1721. I think this song is about the spirit of "Cartouche" still roaming the forests around Paris, celebrating the last clever run on a noble's townhouse, counting the money, fooling around with other stuff he stole, while the campfire sends smokey trails through the summernight.

This song brings confusion to me, because, cartouche means, a carved tablet or drawing representing a scroll with rolled-up ends, used ornamentally or bearing an inscription. For Archaeology, it means, an oval or oblong enclosing a group of Egyptian hieroglyphs, typically representing the name and title of a monarch. So, unless there's another definition for it, than, I'm just going to be forever confused by this song. (Also, no, the definition didn't come off from the top of my head, I looked it up.)
Misamee Specifically it is a Oval enclosing of a group of hieroglyphs meant to denote a name or title. Most prevalent examples are that of Egyptian royals.
