If you've ever listened to Vedera, you will understand her style more. I personally love her voice. And two of my favorite songs are from her previous band Vedera. Shoot, if this girl was just a you-tube sensation "covering" this song she would probably receive great reviews. But the fact that she has stepped into the lead singer role of Flyleaf...might be hard for people to accept.
Props to her for stepping in to something that solicits so much comparison and having the guts to make it hers. The band put in just as much work as Lacey so they deserve to move with the material they helped create. I bet the new stuff with Kristen will be stellar. Bands grow and change. It's art.

Unfortunately this band will have to make adjustments to fit their new vocalist and still try to maintain who they are. I think their true fans will support them. I AGREE/ She is trying and I am proud of her for that but Lacey will always be my hero as far as flyleaf goes. No one will sing them as passionately as she does.
As a band loses a member, I think it is tough for them to produce the same music they did. Especially with the change of the vocals (a huge component), their band changed dramatically so they will need to evolve. The new vocalist is also good and I love her dedication. Sometimes I wonder if these bands should change their name because it would fit them currently instead of what they were. I felt that way about Paramore, they have 3/5 now and it doesn't seem like Paramore anymore. Just my opinion of course but that's how I feel.

Its just all the emotion Lacey put into each song is what captured us and Lacey sang perfectly with every song. she just switched up the notes and she was so emotional and felt so much passion for each song she just let it all out. She spilled everything out for us and thats what we loved about Lacey and this new singer has yet to do that she just isnt Lacey.
I'll put it like this, the difference from her and Lacey is like two guys who both play guitar, they both play great but one plays technical he plays great but that's all he'll ever be because when you don't have that connection where it's just you and the music coming from your heart it's just some guy playing on a guitar...
People are so used to seeing and hearing Lacey sing these lyrics which is why people are so judgmental!! But I saw her live and she kicks ass and can sing really good!! I'm sure once they get there new songs out there people will come around

The type of voice one carries matters a lot in accordance to the genre of music and this chick should be doing pop, country, pop rock or electronic. You need a certain grit to your voice for this sort of band.

Very talented girl with an incredible voice (reminds me a little of Cassadee Pope's voice, who I love) but Lacey's version feels more authentic, and nostalgic because that was the song that introduced me to Flyleaf nearly 10 years ago.

I think the main issue is that Lacey was Flyleaf's greatest key. It's one of those scenarios in which you have decent chords and decent drums that don't bother you too much because there's also these amazing vocals. Lacey's voice is shaky and faulty but it was also a transcendent-like experience most of the times, and it completely outdid the pretty standard instrumentals. Kristen knows what she's doing but those are some big shoes to fill, especially if they keep going back to the "old Flyleaf" hits. Listening to her in a song like this I think you have to wonder what is she singing about, what is she doing, what is she screaming for. Basically we almost re-purpose a song and it loses something. This would happen with whoever came along. If it was any of the other members leaving the band instead of Lacey, as bad as it sounds, long-time die-hard fans wouldn't care so much. But that's how it is and we have to move on and so do they.

Said she was great. Just needs to practice more on her screaming. Give this new singer a chance. No two singers ever sing the same which is what makes each singer unique. Look at the News Boys. I'm using them as an example. When front man Peter Furler went off on his own and Michael Tait took over the band, it wasn't the same at all singing Peters songs. When Michael started writing his own songs with the band, they rocked. So, give Kristin a chance to get her feet wet. They will have a new album coming out this year and we will see then how she does. We might all be pleasantly surprised :)

I actually think she sang it really well. To be honest, the instrumentation kinda sucks in this video. They're trying to play heavy like they normally would and it doesn't really work. They also keep changing tempo.

I can't be easy to prove yourself performance after performance because people will always compare her to Lacey. I think she did a really good job, she sang it like she wrote it. Didn't sound like a cover to me at all, sounded like Flyleaf :D

Guitars are in drop D. They are musicians, they obviously would check if the guitars are in tune before recording.

I actually think she sang it really well. To be honest, the instrumentation kinda sucks in this video. They're trying to play heavy like they normally would and it doesn't really work. They also keep changing tempo.

I loved lacey, she gave me so much inspiration, but I'm sorry to say it but Kristen has an incredible voice she has so much more control, although I do feel lacey had more passion in her songs. But kristen is just incredible & I feel like she's going to bring a wonderful new generation to Flyleaf.
Definately different but she does have some uniqueness to her voice just like lacey`s. I like it(;

thats what Id been sayin g on there facebook page..I cant blame the fans for being upset..This whole thing been missed handled..Lacey shouldve did the tour on the new album and anounced she was leaving the band..couldve been a fellwell tour..then helped the band to find a new singer,then the band could go and make a new album to curtail kristens vocal style..then quit playing all the songs that lacey has done.hey bunch of bands did that,but in time the orginal singer comes back..you never know..
I can't be easy to prove yourself performance after performance because people will always compare her to Lacey. I think she did a really good job, she sang it like she wrote it. Didn't sound like a cover to me at all, sounded like Flyleaf :D

What are you talking about, she is singing it perfectly. If you want a perfect copy, go back in time...because no voice is ever the same as another though Kristen comes pretty damn close to Lacey. She should sing this the way she wants and needs to, not cater to fans stuck in the past.

This girl sings really good, and sounds very trained...But honestly I miss Lacey, she had something personal and unique, that I liked a lot!

I love Kristen's voice!!! Needs refinement but it's amazing! Lacey is great and the original is better for me, but I love her voice!

The fact that none of you can accept change is absolutely sickening. Every band goes through changes for better or worse. The fact that Flyleaf has found a vocalist such as this woman blows my mind! Yes she is no Lacey and she doesnt put in Lacey's heart and soul in these songs because she isnt Lacey! This woman puts her own heart and soul to make the song her own. Learn to appreciate that the music still lives on and quit being babies about something as its "not Lacey".....

When Lacey sung she gave you pure chills.. It was just that seriously good.
Lacey left to sing for God and to bring other to Him by sing of His love and what he sacrificed to show that love.
