Coming from someone who’s been detailing professionally for years. Mercedes and Porsche have the hardest clear coats to correct and remove scratches from lol. But on the plus side, if it’s harder to correct then it’s harder to scratch. I’ve got those same plush towels except mine are from Ceramic Pro and they are bright pink lol I love them
@@iluvmyeski thank you, this is average, but guy thinks he's a pro, the guy needed more cut then he was getting yet didn't go for a microfiber cutting pad
Tbh these detailing videos are some of my favorite types of videos. I love learning about different products and new techniques on maintaining the look of my car. Appreciate these videos 👍🏻
Their is definitely a ceramic coat on there. Wool pad with a abrasive polish should of taken a good amount of those scratches and pits. The Griots surface prep will not take that layer off.
13:15 damn where are my dealership detailers at. We can't let this car represent our work. Personally I could never let a car like this leave our dealer.
As someone who details for a living, and has a ton of experience with compounds, Fast Correcting cream is quite a gentle - non aggressive compound. Use something like Carpro Ultracut or The Last Cut+, 3D ACA 500 ceramic cut (good for Mercedes clear). I used to have to do 3-4 passes on almost any Mercedes with heavy defects when I was using FCC a while back.
I hope you and your family have a blessed and Merry Christmas Evan. Love watching the miata build. I have my decreased brothers car and I'm trying to work on it myself.
Depending on what kind of car it is, there's probably a RUclips video about how to do whatever you are trying to do to your brother's car. So sorry for your loss....
Use the larger throw machine for more aggressive defect removal and always use a more aggressive pad then polishing compound because the pad does more of the work than the polish! Also make sure to not heat up the paint to much
Hey EVAN! most the time i learn from you when watching you do anything to your cars, but i have something to teach you today! when applying perfection cream dab it on there from the tool you use before hand to help spread it for better use out of the product! have a blessed week
WURTH Active Glass Cleaner in the can is the best glass cleaner you can buy and defo reccomend especially for your windscreen but your home/shop windows too 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Griots is an okay product in general. I've been working at a detailing company for 7 years and used Sonax, Griots, Meguiar's and many others. By far the easiest and best I've used are 3M products. Griots doesn't even get near it! Griots are actually kind of a discount brand in this country.
First Detail being compared to first night on honeymoon - perfect bro "find out whats really wrong with it" 😂🤣😂🤣 as a detailer, I found this reference the best 1 you've done for 2020. Shout out from Aus, shattered we couldn't get the chance to win the 35. Maybe a road trip to Australia in "21".....?? Keep the great content coming mate, looking forward to you coming back to the mk4 build.
Bro I love you man you're like the big brother that I never had I'm learning so much from you and your daily advice helps me so much in my life Anyways thanks for everything and I wish u guys the best stay blessed keep it 1oak one of a kind 💯‼️
Same thing when I got my jetta, it was a dealership loaner car with 6k miles, still haven't gotten around to fully correcting it yet because I want to get a griots buffer. Also the paint pen I ordered came with no tip
microfiber cuts more than wool....mercedes black is not typically hard, thus further indicating that it has a coating from some point in time. I'd go at that thing with Jescar correcting compound and a griot's orange foam on the g15 first, if that didn't get it then go up to microfiber. The best thing to do would probably be wetsand with 5000 (assuming you test the thickness first and it's safe) and then start polishing.
ive been watching for years and just realized i never subscribed... i always just searched you up Lol. finally subscribed man youre like the only car youtuber i keep up with
I got my entries in for the GTR, fingers crossed to the max. Just the 5,000 would change my life, but that GTR... oh my damn. That could be the start of my RUclips career.
Depending on where the car has lived its life, if at a dealership alot of them have "daily lot washs" where three or four guys come out in a pickup with a water tank in the bed and they spray the cars down and then take a chamois and dry every car off in a row no matter what the car has on it.
Just had the same experience with my GTI! WHY DO PEOPLE NOT UNDERSTAND HOW TO WASH A CAR. Took me 3 separate days, 3 different types of polishes, 3 types of pads.
If i had to guess the colour, it would have to be like a deep wine red liquid wrap from GetDipped. Even if u do this colour also do some nice black wheels with it i think itll look sick
The pitting on the hood looks like trapped gasses from when the paint was outgassing. Most likely a repaint. The other cause would be contamination and pollution, but that doesn’t look like it would be from that. Mercedes black is usually nice to work on, considering black paint. Only real way to tell would be a depth gauge. I probably would charge around 1500-2000 for this, for people wondering. Doesn’t look like it would need a full sand job from the footage.
Hay Evan, the other issue is that Merceds paint is very VERY soft, especially their black. i have owned 3 black benz and they are very soft, their other colors are a little harder, I had a pewter (silver) coupe and it was a little harder than the blacks.
I would suggest you take a bit more time and cycle out the compound and clean your pad a bit more after every pass it will help because if you just have compound on it and don’t clean it will reduce the amount of cut that the pad has.
That amg looks so sick I want one but older and good condition just for saving money I can't wait to paint the miata BTW don't let any paint shops do it knowing it would do it perfectly but it would rust I would recondmen do it yourself if your sister see my comment giving her a tip
As a former detailer for a car dealership, I can assure you not all (dealerships/detailers for dealerships) are the same but for the most part yeah i've seen a lot of detailers just do a shitty job to get it done quick.
I had the random thought and was wondering what you do specifically to manage all the keys to your cars. Do you have separate keychains or like each car has its own extra piece that clips to the rest of your keys or keep them all together?
Hey Even, I have a question. I own a 2002 Camaro. If you know a thing or two about them, they have a full fiberglass body. You stated that you should know the surface on what you are buffing and polishing. Would the fiberglass be any different than steel?
