I would go for the genesis 👍
GV80 all day - any day. Fresh styling that will last, more reliable, better tech, better ergonomics, better warranty, a better all-around daily driver.
I own a 2020 BMW X5 and have been very happy with it . Never taken it back for reliability issues ; only for yearly free maintenance oil, etc.
I have been viewing many GV80 videos and like the design, exterior and interior. I intend to test drive one later this year for the 2024 model year when my four year BMW warranty expires. That will tell me if the GV80 will be my next vehicle. It has all the features of my $83K BMW which is now about $87K, so the fully loaded GV80 could come in at about $10K less.
The Genesis come with a better warranty also. I got 10 years 100k mile warranty bumper to bumper. Not just power train.

@@stevejackson6598 I paid an extra $2230.00 and with all the cameras, sensors, screens etc that's well worth it. My last SUV an Audi Q7 Prestige extended warranty to 100k was $3,700.00. Love our new Genesis, they are running away with that segment in quality, performance, style, and VALUE. It's a GLS450 for 15k less and more reliable.

@@faridgasimov1742 Similar styling, the GV80 is has more muscle, feels wider/bigger and since it's a lot younger the tech is ridiculous even compared to a 2019 Q7. Q7 did better on mpg. Interior Luxury is way better in the GV80, second row is as comfy as the first, power shades, power heated and cooled seats etc. You won't be dissapointed. We value comfort over sport driving for this car, it's my wife's. I would put this in the pairing of MB GLE and GLS, and pair BMW with Audi for performance handling. Wife loves it, that's all that matters. LOL
The Genesis will be the pick for me.

Lol I think that’s where the comparison stops tho, I don’t need to drive these SUVs back to back, I already know I’m gonna prefer the driving dynamics of the X5

I’m not interested in either but my wife is. Her interest are different then mine.
@@remist-cyr702 I drive a Ford Raptor & a vette im def not a German car guy but I’ve ridden in/driven an X5 & it very much is a “performance” vehicle & handles well for what it is & just feels agile
@@MS-mr4zm I drive an M2 Competition and a G70 so sorry if I don’t think a big SUV is not a performance vehicle.
I have driven one and I agree it’s very agile for its size. The M model is a different vehicle all together and would be considered a performance vehicle.
I wish you could pick the same trim of BMW with crystal interior and massage seats. Also, I believe the interior build quality is much solid.
Great comparison! I lean to the GV80
Custom or "My" mode get the best milage in the Genesis and driving is good. I set a 'Comfort' suspension and handling is closer to 'Sport'.
If you care about driving, the decision is easy: BMW. If you are just Joe/Jane Average lux buyer looking for a comfy 3-year lease ride, then either will do just fine.
Even with 3.5 turbo V6, GV80 take 6.0s to go from 0-60mph while BMW X5 (with 3.0 turbo) take only 5.3s. GV80 has more power but too heavy for all that power.
It’s more of a luxury vehicle than sporty performance minded vehicle.
It’s not the horsepower only…….The size and transmission have a lot to do with 0-60 times. The MDX Type S beats the GV80 0-60 time as well with a smaller engine and less horsepower.
Remember GV80 can do 0-60 in 5.5s in some other car reviewers videos
I want to be kept updated on the comparison between the X5 and GV80 for 2024. Have to have my mind made up by October.

Honestly I’ve always wished that the gv80 didn’t have the grabdfather Buick 2 spoke steering wheel. If it had the 3 spoke like on the gv70 it would be perfect

If you are a BMW guy, you will be disappointed by a Genesis. But if you are a Mercedes guy, you will get the Genesis and never look back at a Mercedes.

I just bought the X5 45e. When I took a test drive in the Genesis I felt uncomfortable, even though I thought it was nicely appointed it felt like I was driving a truck looking over that big hood. They say beauty is skin deep in looking past the beautiful Genesis skin under the hood and under the car I see that’s it’s really a spruced up Hyundai. Lexus was successful in exceeding the Toyota but just like Nissan and Infiniti Hyundai just isn’t there yet. Those are the reasons I eliminated Genesis from my shopping cart. Driving the X5 brought me back to the excitement I felt when I got my first car many years ago. At first it was actually intimidating all those buttons and features to master. Coding what’s coding but that’s a whole other world of opportunities to make a car your own not many manufacturers have that underground feature set. The choice is like dating 2 beautiful woman one may be slightly better physically but the other can push the right buttons, coup de foudre. What do I recommend is you buy what you are most comfortable in and I just don’t mean physically but mentally . For me my X5 becomes a part of me when I’m in the drivers seat not everyone can handle it but those who can never forget that feeling.

Still a Hyundai. Order in for X5 - wifey said no way Jose for GV80 after driving both. Thought she would go with the "bling" but she has a 530 now and just wanted a BMW SUV, drives 100% better than the GV80.
The Genesis may be the better looking vehicle and technically superior, but Hyundai service is the absolute worst! And I talk from experience!! They're great products and all but if anything goes wrong (and I mean ANYTHING, no matter how basic) you're pretty much stuck with the problem. Dealer service and warranty sucks big time!!!
Both are very nice but BMW all day. I would be scared of the known engine fire issues with the Genesis and have heard they are not standing behind their product. Also, BMW placed 3rd in reliability which is impressive. Both are very attractive vehicles.

BMW recalled more than 3 million cars for engine fire while Genesis got 0 recalls for fire.
It's commonly knowledge that the German brands are unreliable
BMW is the most expensive car brand to maintain and that’s just for oil changes and tire rotation etc. imagine if you have a major problem with a BMW vs the warranty the Genesis has.
Hyundai and Kia have engine fire issues. NO Genesis models have that issue. On our third Genesis since 2013, ALL have been spectacular compared to the Germans in reliability and price.

My friend had the equus. Drank oil and Hyundai wouldn’t fix it. If he stopped at the dealer with low oil /without an apptmt, they scolded him. Maybe genesis fixed the bad service, but the car was a pos. He traded it on a Mercedes, and loves that. What a nightmare, and that was a common problem. I never see any of those anymore. Junked!

@@BashToks It was a 2013? Not ancient. Their pride and glory, and all gone. My 2014 BMW is like new. And it is still an issue…on 2012-2021 models. Class action lawsuit.
The GV80 interior makes the BMW interior look second class.

GV is a slug. 2024 BMW blows it out of the water performance wise. If you want a luxury slug, look at the GV80.
