Ogon Bat is seriously underrated. Being the first modern superhero (predating Superman and the Phantom) as well as being the poster boy for lost media, are two pretty interesting titles to have. 👍

The phantom is the one who did that first, and also originated the pupil less eyes behind the mask. Golden bat originated in a type of street theater with cards and narration, with a design clearly copied from the disguise the Phantom of the opera used in the ball. Then in the 60's it was revived as a more superherolike character, and even ripped off the Shadow's laugh. There's even a gunslinger version too from before the 60's if I recall correctly. So no, he wasn't the first superhero, not even close.

Yes, if you say superheroes must appear from comics, it doesn't feel right because superheroes can appear from various media, whether TV, comics, manga, even street theater.
