I definitely wouldn't call EXO normal kpop... They're way too R&B for that. Their music (group and solo) is heavily influenced by R&B, and their vocal power is off the charts. They do a lot more vocal layering and blending than your typical group, and it's incredibly consistent because they're so well trained. A lot of them still take vocal lessons to this day. They have a unique sound, and I hear a lot of idols look up to EXO members for their talent and discipline. They're known all over Korea, and their song Growl is still considered the Korean national anthem (it was actually released in 2013 😂)

I am not an EXO-L but an ARMY, I think I know why EXO has "better" vocalists than BTS. I think it's because more people with huge talent in singing audittioned, since they are apart of the "big 3". Chen and Baekhyun only trained for 4 months before being added to exo's lineup. Their predebut mv and debut show how good vocals they had even as rookies. Please, react more to exo. I recommend MAMA, Tempo (there is an acapella part in the song), Growl and Obsession. They are an excellent group of 9 members, on June 7th they will have a comeback together with their 7th album (mini album) "Don't fight the feeling", this comeback will be with 7 members because Chen and Suho are in the military service. Baekhyun and Chanyeol also entered but they recorded everything before leaving.
I am an army and a fan of exo, but exo, undeniably, is a vocal powerhouse especially the vocal trinity (Baekhyun, Chen, and DO). ❤️ Btw, they’re having a comeback after SO LONG 😍

I’m sorry, I know you’re an EXO-L, but what do you mean not known for their high notes? All rookie groups in survival shows actually want to avoid EXO songs simply because of the high notes, and Chen alone has some of the best high notes in the industry, periodt.
exo’s discography has mostly r&b tracks with some hip-hop & ballad influences here and there. they’re actually my favorite group &i really suggest you check out more of their songs...but yeah be careful not to compare & start fanwars 💀 also that song you really liked was el dorado

EXO's debut "MAMA" is still one of most vocally impressive songs from that year. And no matter what you think about SM, they have a long history of crazy talented vocalists. I don't like enough of their songs to consider myself an EXO-L, but I have a lot of respect for EXO's talent. "Growl" is one of their earlier songs but I really think you'd like it.

I'm really glad you reacted to this because when one first got into kpop aka become an army I always saw bad things about EXO because of fan wars. As you said I saw them as the villain/ evil version of bts. But as I adventured out into kpop and started watching some of their stuff I realized that they really are a good group you just have to be open minded. the time I got into kpop, the tension between the 2 fandoms was so intense. Both groups are seriously talented but the wars, they just don't stop. It was really bad before tho I can't say much since I wasn't really involved (I don't want to be driven by their problematic attitudes). I came for the mf music and the groups. So as an army, I was really pissed about this group but you know what, I only had that thought about them bcs of the fans. After seeing the other side, my mind changed, like in an instant. These groups don't deserve the hate, the toxic fans are the ones who started this and can poison the minds of newcomers. literally hold prejudice against either group. I am a living proof, it's just the toxicity, I'm tired of fanwars and shit.
the fanwars between ARMYs and EXO-Ls are a minority of the fandoms (most of either fandom either dont care, like the other group, or are the other fandom as well) but the ones who do fanwars are EXTREMLY LOUD, ironic when Jimin and Kai are besties (alongside SHINee's Taemin)

EXO really has amazing vocals. They had fantastic training. Also more importantly, SM protects their artists' vocals with everything they have. Chen and Baekhyun especially. Also even though Chanyeol is their rapper, his singing voice is gorgeous. D.O also has amazing vocals. I always wish Big Hit would have dedicated vocal trainers for the boys but they operate under the hiphop driven idol group mindset. So the boys try to find their own trainers on their own time. But sadly for them, they've barely had time off since 2015. A month maybe every year and that is mostly spent with family (which I totally understand). I'm hoping they were able to do something during this pandemic. But they self train a lot.

I recall jk saying that they have a vocal trainer but he trains by himself to not lose his style. Jimin didn't get enough training and just watched the others being trained so he trained himself. I'm not really sure but that's what I remember from interviews. Anyways I really hope that the fanwars stop now.

Which is why they are known to have the most difficult choreos in the business. But I still think they will benefit from vocal coaches. Not for improvement but protection. Especially during concerts because they push themselves so hard physically.
but I think when pandemic came, they are doing vocal lessons again, i mean Jk,Jm,Jin and V. I remember Jimin saying that last year in their vlive. We can actually see the improvements. I just feel proud because I really think Jimin doesn't have that much confidence in his voice

But I think that they probably auditioned for vocals and it must be really strict, it's SM ent after all. on the other hand bighit as what you've said, was a hiphop driven group and the members weren't singers. Mostly their main is performance knowing that mr. Son was there since day 1. And yeah surely they'll benefit from vocal trainers, I'll point out jimin's voice it really was exhausted but I'm glad that he's getting back on track. His voice is very unique and I want him to continue growing and improving without forcing himself. I mean sometimes Jin and Jimin hits unbelievably notes, most of their songs are high tuned ngl. Sometimes its really forced and can damage their vocals, don't get me wrong, they just need to learn the proper way ig? That'll serve as protection, from what you've said. plus the intense choreography with live vocals must be very exhausting so I hope they take care of their physical and mental health well. I know they do. ps. They had good voices but most members, it wasn't their main, they learned it through the years. Which I think is very inspiring. You should check out Baekhyun's solo stuff! He's fantastic but yes EXO is very vocally talented. We can play the comparison game however I think each group has its strengths/selling points. People are allowed to like one or both and that doesn't have to negate the talent and hard work both do. SM Entertainment does consistently produce amazing vocalists. chanyeol is a professional in these instruments: different kinds of guitar (electric, classic, base...) , piano, drums and keyboard he also can play other ones but is not as professional as those said ones. (for example he used to play violin when he was kid) he is also DJ and compose and write music.
One of the reasons I'm an EXOL is that they are so versatile.. their group albums are so different from each other, their solo albums are also so different, each one of them makes the music he likes and feels comfortable with, not just the music that will be more popular.... i loved them since 2012 and still love and respect them a lot as a group and as individual artists, cuz they always try new things not just in music but in other industries as well..
EXO is R&B Soul. Brotha's from another motha. They can sing any genre but they are known for R&B. You love vocals they deliver. Their stamina to dance while singing and keeping a stable voice makes them unique. The main genres of EXO are RnB, ballads, 90's and 80's style. A lot of Acustic and harmonies. You cannot compare groups because each one has their own style. 😅 Personally, I feel like calling them "villains" doesn't make sense. They don't even compete in anything. EXO's target audience is people between the age of 20 and 30, contemporaries of the members. That's why they handle mature concepts, wich isn't a bad thing. While the target of BTS are teenagers, that's why they have more vibrant concepts.

Hey Sebastian, Exo are known as "The Vocal Kings of Kpop", and not known for high notes, but just for their singing and harmonies. All 9 members each have a different sound, but all blend together so well. Many members also have solo albums that feature their individual styles and sound. Exo are an r&b based group, with alot of pop, jazz, dance and groove flavors. They do many genres and never stick to one, even within the same album. They have beautiful ballads too. They have a few rappers, who also sing. I’m sorry, I know you’re an EXO-L, but what do you mean not known for their high notes? All rookie groups in survival shows actually want to avoid EXO songs simply because of the high notes, and Chen alone has some of the best high notes in the industry, periodt.
exo’s discography has mostly r&b tracks with some hip-hop & ballad influences here and there. they’re actually my favorite group &i really suggest you check out more of their songs...but yeah be careful not to compare & start fanwars 💀

EXO's debut "MAMA" is still one of most vocally impressive songs from that year. And no matter what you think about SM, they have a long history of crazy talented vocalists.
I don't like enough of their songs to consider myself an EXO-L, but I have a lot of respect for EXO's talent. "Growl" is one of their earlier songs but I really think you'd like it.

I'm really glad you reacted to this because when one first got into kpop aka become an army I always saw bad things about EXO because of fan wars. As you said I saw them as the villain/ evil version of bts. But as I adventured out into kpop and started watching some of their stuff I realized that they really are a good group you just have to be open minded. If you would like to look into them I would recommend obsession, monster, love shot or call me baby. Really love you and your videos keep up the work❤❤❤

the time I got into kpop, the tension between the 2 fandoms was so intense. Both groups are seriously talented but the wars, they just don't stop. It was really bad before tho I can't say much since I wasn't really involved (I don't want to be driven by their problematic attitudes). I came for the mf music and the groups. So as an army, I was really pissed about this group but you know what, I only had that thought about them bcs of the fans. After seeing the other side, my mind changed, like in an instant. These groups don't deserve the hate, the toxic fans are the ones who started this and can poison the minds of newcomers. literally hold prejudice against either group. I am a living proof, it's just the toxicity, I'm tired of fanwars and shit.

Sebastine, I totally get that it’s like right in your face, but please don’t fall victim to the whole “BTS v.s. everyone else” narrative bc there really are no “villains” or “good guys” in K-pop. I know BTS had a rly rough time, but that was due to society at large and the structure of the K-pop industry as a whole, not any specific rival groups. There are so many talented, hardworking, kind people in K-pop, so there’s rly no use trying to determine who’s “more talented” or who the “good guys” and “bad guys” are. At the end of the day, they’re all amazing musicians and entertainers doing the very best to succeed in this industry.

EXO really has amazing vocals. They had fantastic training. Also more importantly, SM protects their artists' vocals with everything they have. Chen and Baekhyun especially. Also even though Chanyeol is their rapper, his singing voice is gorgeous. D.O also has amazing vocals.
I always wish Big Hit would have dedicated vocal trainers for the boys but they operate under the hiphop driven idol group mindset. So the boys try to find their own trainers on their own time. But sadly for them, they've barely had time off since 2015. A month maybe every year and that is mostly spent with family (which I totally understand). I'm hoping they were able to do something during this pandemic. But they self train a lot.

As for bts yeah they didn't get that exclusive training or how you call that. I recall jk saying that they have a vocal trainer but he trains by himself to not lose his style. Jimin didn't get enough training and just watched the others being trained so he trained himself. I'm not really sure but that's what I remember from interviews. Anyways I really hope that the fanwars stop now.
@@yngnfrs_9 I think SM also trains their idols longer right? in a way Big Hit's training was heavily performance focused. Which is why they are known to have the most difficult choreos in the business. But I still think they will benefit from vocal coaches. Not for improvement but protection. Especially during concerts because they push themselves so hard physically.
but I think when pandemic came, they are doing vocal lessons again, i mean Jk,Jm,Jin and V. I remember Jimin saying that last year in their vlive. We can actually see the improvements. I just feel proud because I really think Jimin doesn't have that much confidence in his voice

But I think that they probably auditioned for vocals and it must be really strict, it's SM ent after all. on the other hand bighit as what you've said, was a hiphop driven group and the members weren't singers. Mostly their main is performance knowing that mr. Son was there since day 1. And yeah surely they'll benefit from vocal trainers, I'll point out jimin's voice it really was exhausted but I'm glad that he's getting back on track. His voice is very unique and I want him to continue growing and improving without forcing himself. I mean sometimes Jin and Jimin hits unbelievably notes, most of their songs are high tuned ngl. Sometimes its really forced and can damage their vocals, don't get me wrong, they just need to learn the proper way ig? That'll serve as protection, from what you've said. plus the intense choreography with live vocals must be very exhausting so I hope they take care of their physical and mental health well. I know they do.
ps. They had good voices but most members, it wasn't their main, they learned it through the years. Which I think is very inspiring. Jimin was a dancer, tae auditioned bcs of his friend, jin was scouted on the streets and jk has natural talent.

I used to be a fan of EXO, they are one of the reasons (along with SNSD) why I started listening to KPOP. I really love Baekhyun's voice.
You should check out Baekhyun's solo stuff! He's fantastic but yes EXO is very vocally talented. We can play the comparison game however I think each group has its strengths/selling points. People are allowed to like one or both and that doesn't have to negate the talent and hard work both do. SM Entertainment does consistently produce amazing vocalists. Been following kpop since 2003-2004. I felt really old saying that lmao

One of the reasons I'm an EXOL is that they are so versatile.. their group albums are so different from each other, their solo albums are also so different, each one of them makes the music he likes and feels comfortable with, not just the music that will be more popular.... i loved them since 2012 and still love and respect them a lot as a group and as individual artists, cuz they always try new things not just in music but in other industries as well..

Do Kyungsoo (D.O.) is the king of RnB in kpop. EXO generally has a lot of RnB B-side songs.
Some of their songs hit differently. I think you would LOVEEE “bambi- baekhyun”
The main genres of EXO are RnB, ballads, 90's and 80's style. A lot of Acustic and harmonies. You cannot compare groups because each one has their own style. 😅
Personally, I feel like calling them "villains" doesn't make sense. They don't even compete in anything. EXO's target audience is people between the age of 20 and 30, contemporaries of the members. That's why they handle mature concepts, wich isn't a bad thing. While the target of BTS are teenagers, that's why they have more vibrant concepts.
EXO is the ONLY K-pop Group that can drop their Catalog in today's market and it feel fresh and new. They have been around sing 2012. Trust me on this they are a NO-FLOP ensemble.

@@houseofalex it’s easier said than done. Normally I don’t reply to toxic haters but sometimes I can’t stop myself and I do, and then I get called toxic, and then I get more angry because I’m not toxic I’m just defending my artists!
