You mentioned rng, helpful note: there's extremely little rng in this game, the map is all static crafted, mineral resources are all there at start and there's only one place they respawn in the whole map
I know there is some but not a lot and I CAN say that in my test play world there were more resources closer and easier to get. For instance, the lifepod sits almost directly over a decent cave system that had a lot in it and the wreckage had more available. Also there is no thermal vent anywhere near my lifepod in that world. I know the biomes are locked and structures are locked but it does seem like there is quite a bit of wiggle room within the parameters - enough to make each session feel different.
