At a Keith FC game last season, my Pal and I met a group of supporters of Fort William who had come up from just outside London. They had chosen to follow Fort William because they were the worst team in the country. The Fort William game was cancelled so they rapidly rebooked and ended up in Keith. They tied it in with some malt whisky tours and made a long weekend of it. It was great to meet them, hear their story and share the love of the game.
Well ,for a start the governing bodies and the SMSM should be more vigilant in doing your jobs properly and report on all matters of a paying public interest from Ibrox, like you do with other football clubs . There is no condemnation or criticism when Rangers announced a loss of £17 + million pounds a few weeks ago for example....they got another freebie from all media outlets . Questions like " is it legal to operate while insolvent?" Every season ..10 in a row in fact ....that would be a good kick off point !
It might be a business to the suits but as witnessed during COVID football without fans is dull . If fan groups ever decided to stage a unified boycott across Europe they soon get the message.
Juninho was a great little player but the one time i saw him play he missed a penalty at Old Trafford. It was back in 2000 i believe. This the same game where a screaming Roy Keane and a host of Utd players ran after the referee abusing him after he awarded the penalty. It was my first time at Old Trafford (not a Utd fan) and i was not happy when Juninho missed. To make it worse Utd scored a late winner like they always seemed to do back then. It was 24 years before i made it back to Old Trafford where i was happy to see Utd battered 0-3 only a while back by Tottenham. From the Theatre of Dreams to the Theatre of Screams. Utds fall from grace is good to see. It might have been almost a quarter of a century but different emotions leaving the ground on both days for sure.
There are countries that could never qualify to hold a winter Olympics because they don't have a suitable climate. There are also countries who should never qualify to hold a summer world cup because they don't have a suitable climate (and that's without even mentioning the human rights violations). I would love to see the FAs of countries pull out of qualifying because they refuse to play there. Obviously you would need a few of the biggest FAs to pull for it to have an impact.
