    Japanese fruits are terrific! All super sweet. Their fuji apples are authentic Fuji apples very large, crunchy, juicy & sweet. So are their grapes. And I'm not even talking about those expensive ones. I bought the fruits from a roadside store during my vacation in Tokyo, the store Obasan was super polite. Bought apples and grapes back to the hotel, best fruits i ever tasted.

    This is in takasaki city of gunma prefecture. The plums are also called sumomo (momo is peach, so, like sour peach?) すもも The small green plums that are pulled in pruning look like the type of plums that are used to make umeshu plum wine

    In July 2020, I purchased this type of Plumb. They were not grown by Japanese farmer. It was grown in a State next to mine. I bought it thinking it was a Japanese type of Plumb. Thus, it must be exactly like the one grown right. It tasted terrible & sour as Lime. I bought a lot. I had to threw all away. This Plumb is truly delicious. I have once eaten it. It was given one for me to try by a Japanese neighbor who bought it from a Japanese local farmer. They must have followed the same method of growing this fruit from the Japanese farmer in Japan.

    What sort of temperatures do these plum trees need? I assume something cooler, like cherries. Do they need a specific number of chill hours over winter, to be able to produce fruit?

    Omg I have never seen such beaitiful pest free fruits! My Asian pears have so many insects. How do I get them pest free like those plums?

    • @juliemcgugan1244
      @juliemcgugan1244 4 года назад

      My thoughts are that if they do not control pests using chemical insecticide, they must use biological methods to control the pests. There are many instances of this around the world, including ladybirds (known as ladybugs in the US,). neem oil and fruit fly traps using synthetic fruit fly hormone. All of these aim at controlling the population of pests (eg aphids, nematodes, flatworms, fruit flies, etc,) without using any chemicals that might effect the tree or the fruit.

    what a beautiful fruit, can it be grown well in a tropical country like Indonesia? and how to get a seed?

    • @fyeelessarndra3392
      @fyeelessarndra3392 5 лет назад +1

      Plums, like cherries, apples and peaches, cannot bear fruit in tropical countries. They can be planted and the trees will grow but they will never yield any fruits because these types of fruit trees needs something called the "chilling" process. The trees needs to be exposed to extreme cold such as winter conditions so when spring comes and the weather gets warmer, they will flower and finally in summer, they will bear fruits. So yeah, there's no point planting plums in Indonesia..
