They are locally-owned and its a quick in-out deal, and I don't have to worry about oil messes, back aches and oil recycling. BTW, Toyota gives me a couple of free oil changes, but the first one was at 10,000 miles.
Tom, great video clip... how about the torque spec on the oil filter cartridge and end cap plug? Toyota says 18 ft lbs on canister and 10 ft lbs on the end cap plug... 30 lbs on the pan drain plug..
I'm gonna be doing my first ever oil change on my 2022 tacoma 2.7 4 cylinder soon and I was taking a look under it just to get an idea where everything is. I have a question. For mine, I didn't need to take off the skid plate. I did just to make sure, but the oil drain plug and filter are past my skid plate. Did you have to take yours off? Or was it just to have more room? I'm starting to worry that I'm gonna drain the wrong thing. I also got a spin on K&N filter, but I'll probably just go back to OEM stuff next time
With my third gen tacoma, I ended up having to run a tap through the skid plate holes and buy new bolts. I had 1 and then 2 of the bolts cross threading. I blame it on the oem self-tapping bolts they used. All good now. I have the same oil drain container. I was waiting for your oil to shoot up out of the container like mine does.

Could you have used a swivel ratchet to get the skid plate off, rather than removing the air deflector? I'm just curious if that might work, or if the plastic peice needs to be removed for the front tabs.. Thanks
The chin spoiler / air dam is there for gas mileage. I left mine in place because I want more mpg. Toyota engineers put it there for a reason. With oil changes I just flex it enough to slip my ratchet extension in there so no need to remove the piece. I'd sell my Mother for better gas mileage so the air dam stays put. Imho it looks fine.
