I miss the Open Beta 2017-2018 era of Gwent so much. It was so fun, everybody was getting into it. I loved the RUclips people from that time, Merchant, MegaMogwai, McBeard, KingBlackToof, Swimstrim and others, and The Great Dandelion Show was so funny. I just came back to the game because of all this nostalgia, I'm having lots of funs, and now I'm sad hearing the game will end. At least I came back before it actually ended.
They fucked around and found out unfortunately. They took the game that we all wanted away from us in a desperate effort to be top of the market. It failed and we all left. I’d play open beta gwent in a heartbeat. But not this.
It's about a year since you first posted this video and I'm just learning of this for the first time. I just discovered this game after playing witcher 3 and falling in love with gwent. I am really disappointed about this, I have just started playing this game about a month ago and your tutorial basically taught me how to play. I really appreciate your deck building videos and was excited for you to make more of them. I wish I could at least ask you deck building questions as I can tell you are very skilled player and someone that could teach me a lot of strategy. What a shame. I will try to reach out to you someday to see if you'd answer any of my strategy and deck building questions. I have learned so much from your amazing videos
I don't know why The Witcher Series didnt promote this game. One of The most viewed series on Netflix. I think that would have brought new people to Gwent and the game would not be dead.
I started playing Gwent during Open Beta in October of 2017, at the end of the Saovine event. Despite leaving after homecoming, I came back at the end of 2019 and I fell in love with this game again. Brenna Today, Vizima Tomorrow! Farewell Gwent. Ps Happy birthday Thea!
I stopped playing Gwent about 6 months ago , I am still subscribed to a few "Meme Card" type creators , Plain Talk and Speci saw the written on the wall I guess. I liked your tutorial videos a whole bunch and it was a great guide to get started with Gwent 3 ,4 years ago I think, it was the Merchants update when I came into this infuriating card game which we've all loved too much. You are extremely beautiful, young and educated ,your career prospects are limitless. Good Luck with your Future Endeavors !
Slama leaving was the beginning of the end, the new French guy jean that replaced him seems to have dialed powercreep and imbalanced cards up to 11 which has made myself and many other dedicated Gwent players have to take breaks every month just for the new drops to break the game all over again, I really feel like if Slama stayed we wouldn't have had this game dying yet as the consistent player numbers would be much higher.
I don't think there's any particular single culprit, the dev team essentially shot themselves in the foot by deciding to scrap the open beta project as it was in the first place. Compared to some of the patches we've had since, Midwinter doesn't stand out quite as horrendous as it did in the heat of a moment. Everything that happened after, including mobile release, indicated that they're just trying to recover from the blow and at least turn some profit.
The power creep began long before Slama left actually. It just became worse after he left. I think it had to do with Vlad's philosophy about the game. If you guys go back to the video made when Slama left and Vlad presented himself as the replacement, he said something along the lines of 'making the game fun, less focus on balance'. More focus on new cards and mechanics rather than revamping old cards and mechanics. That's why with every new expansion, new cards became more and more whack and old ones became obsolete.
Happy Birthday Thea ! And thank you for your great content. I have been playing Gwent for the last couple of years and I would always tune in when I saw you have a new video. Wishing you the best whatever game you decide to focus on next. Sad for gwent but as you said you could have seen it coming..
One of the if not the most free to play friendly card games I have ever end now finally comes to an end. It really saddens me, I have so many great memories with this game, and I really like the content creators I followed throughout the years. I hope everyone can find their new thing, and wishing all the best.
Rip Gwent it was the only CCG I actually liked. Maybe homecoming in the grand scheme was a mistake it lost a lot of players and content creators that never came back afterwards. And while the game for a little bit started to feel like it was getting back to Old Gwent these latest drops have been so incredibly unbalanced that the remaining players just couldn't stand playing against the same overpowered decks over and over the same cookie cutter templates
Yes homecoming was gwents downfall. I stopped playing it shortly after, but still watched every development update in slight hope that they would revert to "old" gwent ... that was how much i loved the old one.
I really feel for all the Gwent players who stuck with the game longer than I did. It always sucks to see something you love taken away from you because it doesn't sell well. I'd recommended Legends of Runeterra as a way to fill the void, it was a pretty good alternative for me when I left.
I've tryed a bit of Legend of Runterra, although I'm a big fan of the LoL lore I was a bit disapointed by the game, I've yet to find a game more generous than Gwent, I couldn't imagine myself getting the full collection without putting money into it while it seemed easy for Gwent. plus Gwent have the originality for itself. every single other card game i've find on internet is : you get HP and your opponent does too, you get a ressource that grow throughout the game to play your cards and the first one to bring the opponent to 0 HP win. From Hearthstone to Legend of Runeterra via Faeria, Duelyst or even Infinity War, all of these are on the same modus operandi and basically it's a Magic the Gathering inspiration (more or less) of course, all of those game have their own thing, specialties that make them different from the others, but ultimately, it's always sort of the same. sadly Gwent was one of a kind, and the lore is great too, i'll be sad when they stop adding content, I'll probably continue to play a bit afterward but without new content I'll stop sooner or later
@@yozarahirvi4750 I love the outstanding mode of Gwent, playing over 3 rounds and the possibility to pass. I always liked that you not only had to play your hand but your opponent as well. And stuff like getting card advantage or last say.
man, I didnt know about this, I just downloaded Gwent yesterday because after a certain time I really like coming back to the game, like once or twice every year and playing for some days or weeks, feeling sad about the news, Gwent really was my favorite tcg along with Magic
Thanks so much for the Gwent content so far, really loved watching your vids on deck techs. The Witcher universe has always been a big part of my life, so sad to see it leave but I’m optimistic of the future. Maybe it’ll come back when the next Witcher games come out. Either way I’ll still stick around till the very end. Looking forward to your next gaming moves. Maybe Legends of Runeterra or Shadowverse? What ever you pick, keep on keeping on choom.
I've been thinking about finally starting playing Gwent, I love The Witcher and will probably really enjoy Gwent. It's a shame, I thought the game would be more active. :(
Happy birthday to you, Thea! May you reach 120 years or more! Thank you for your sincerity and your message. It breaks my heart to see my favorite card game ever die like this, but as you said, CDPR is running a business after all. I'll see you in your new content, I'm sure you will do great! And let me know if you would like to play some Boardgames over Tabletop Simulator or other similar way. That would be awesome!
This is incredibly sad. I picked up Gwent just two months ago and your frost budget deck has helped me out immensely. I will keep playing for the next year till the official support ends. Hopefully I will make it through all the journeys by then.
I had no idea. I played some Gwent about a year or so ago and wanted to come back, but this is saddening. Good game, good atmosphere. Shame it is ending. Turning 25 was not so bad... now that I look at it from beyond. :D Happy (late) birthday and may your channel prosper.
I don't think this is as awful as people think. I don't understand how a game no longer being added to means it's "dead". It's just a complete game now. I'm not sitting around waiting for any other games i love to crank out dlc's years after release. If people stop playing and the game really dies even though it's still playable then it's on the community not the devs. I never expected an infinite amount of cards. Hopefully it just gets fine tuned from here out. As long as you can hop into a game I'll keep playing. If i can still jump in to a duel in Dark Souls 2 on PlayStation I'm sure I'll be able to play some gwent when i get the urge.
I picked up playing gwent and found your channel only recently and it's so unfortunate that they decided to end the game. I'm sad.😔 Concerning other card games, in the area where I live they are simply unavailable, hello from Crimea, so heck that's a bummer.
I'm really sad about Gwent has to be ended in this way. I hope there is a plot twist like Witcher 3 next gen is very popular and then players request a standalone gwent again.
I'll be leaving Gwent after six years of uninterrupted play, all the way from closed beta. Gwent and its community have been a constant in my life during these years, helping me during difficult times, helping me getting over loneliness and abandonment. I really am grateful for all of this, knowing that there will never be a card game such as this. My only hope is that one day they will bring it back to life or, you know, sell the IP to some other company.
Happy Birthday Thea ! I'm quite sad to see my favourite card game dying ! you were the one that made me reach the pro rank (i was stuck rank 6 before watching your deck presentation videos) that's something that i'll miss !
From TES Legends , After it shut down , it really broke my heart , That when I started playing Gwent , From there I played The Witcher 3 , Throne Breaker , and fell in love with The Witcher Universe , this Really makes me sad .
Always loved Witcher world cause it was that sweet spot of fantasy above Game of Thrones but below Lord of The Rings. So it was fantastical monsters but in gritty realism.
I started gwent a few months ago and I was really enjoying it but I started too feel a bit frustrated playing against decks so unbalanced that is imposible to progress .I'm a Big fan of the Witcher books & games so I'll keep playing them and maybe Gwent Will come back better & balanced in the future,Who knows..!! Happy birthday and keep the good work!!🥳🥳
This is so sad to hear today. I played Gwent from the 1st day through 2020. I got busy with life and stepped away from the game until I decided to sign in today and noticed the maintenance mode notification. I have so much in-game currency built up in this game. It's literally the best online card game I have ever played. I will continue to play until the very end. I hope the community will continue to figure out how to support the game and keep it going!
sad to know I came late to the party. Was playing witcher 3 after their reboot and was like do they have a stand alone game and lost my mind to find one. but after being so up, and checking your awesome beginner guide, crushed to know I was about 2 years too late. oh well, I'll still learn and play it for a while
Bit of a shame that it's ending "so soon". I have to wonder if this has to do with the focus on the development of the new CDPR games, or just purely from the perceived loss in popularity and thus financially motivated. Could we hope for more content once the new Witcher games release, do you think?
Perceived loss of popularity. For the past 2 years, less and less players have been playing this game. More and more Gwent content creators abandoned it. Most likely the loss of players also reflected in less people buying stuff from the shop, etc.
@@Kalimdor199Menegroth because of their stoopid meta shaking changes and power creep level: oblivion. There was no balance in this game and no major plan from CDPR. We can’t blame players for that
@@OFIR_Kubson Never blamed only the players. The player reacted to the game environment. This is the fate of all games that function based on meta. You restrain the player's possibilities to go unga-bunga with cards, decks, archetypes and strategies to a very small pool of OP cards, which make up a handful of decks that get copy-pasted by the vast majority of the player base. On the long run, this crushes creativity, and makes the game stale, boring and annoying, because to be competitive you have to play the meta decks and your opponent will also most likely play these as well. At core, this is indeed a game design/balance issue.
I really appreciate your content over the years. So many great videos throughout the entire life of the game. In the future, I would love to see a bit of Marvel Snap content on the RUclips channel.
This is sad but I could see it coming. I've spent so much time looking at cards and the voice lines. Nights where I needed the comfort of the Witcher and was lazy, this filled that void. That cheerful niche.
feliz aniversario atrasado, eu voltei a jogar agora e logo pensei em você para pesquisar novos decks, fiquei muito triste com a noticia mas te desejo sucesso você é a melhor.
I played the old Gwent for about one year during the BETA. The game had issues with balancing, and yet, it was truly fun. All the ppl who hopped in during the beta, wanted that game as it was. Suddenly, CDPR decided to remake it from the ground up, and lost likely more than 50% of the user base in the process. Including casters and content creators. Most did not liked the changes to the gameplay, I inlcuded, and quit when homecoming came out. I'm pretty sure, if they kept the earlier version of Gwent with 3 rows, and fixed balancing, the game would have been a success. There was a protest on the forum with CDPR wanting to change the game from 3 rows to 2. They did not listen, and got punished by its players for enforcing the mobile platform that nobody asked for. That was the reason for why gwent went from 3 to 2 rows, and not because to make the cards look better.
Started playing during near the end of Way of the Witcher, used to play Gwent EVERY SINGLE DAY A bit sad to see Gwent go, though I'm glad I got to witness that one tournament where Lifecoach came back. That really did feel ike the climax of the game
I left two years ago, as it was already too....financial, no responds, bugs, interest dying, so sorry to hear the journey is over, but I hope you will found something nice to do! Best wishes! P.S. I still love Thronebreaker, and would love to get another story like this
Yall are way too dramatic about this. The game is still going to be playable, players can host tournaments themselves, and mod/balance the game. As long as people keep it alive, it is not dead.
Ive played this game since the beta on xbox it was my first and only card game. So many streamers I watched throughout the year making fun decks that I can add my own tweaks to. It is sad knowing that it wont be getting new content but it gives me time to finally complete my reward book and get more premiums and I will most likely still play it until it goes offline if it does.
Thank you for everything you did for the Gwent community. Your videos were really helpful to progress and become better at the game and I always felt that your channel was the best entry door for new players. I can't wait to know which direction you will take regarding content creation. Whatever we might think about the decisions CDPR took during the development of Gwent, it will have been a great journey in the end. (Oh, and happy belated birthday!)
Happy Birthday and good luck for the future. I guess we are all sad, although tbh I haven´t been playing much Gwent in the last year and didn´t follow the content creators like I used to. 😔
I started Gwent on close beta right at the beginning actually :). It's a good game hopefully they keep the server running for a few more year. Btw, you should play marvel snap next
I just started Gwent a few month backand it breaks my heart to see the game i discovered and already put 350 hours into to go down. But I guess thats how it goes. Have a good day
I'll miss what Gwent could have been... really enjoyed beta version but try as I might, the rebuild wasn't able to hold my interest more than a week or two following a new season. That said, your Gwent content was second to none and I look forward to see what is on the horizon.
I'm following you from GWENT. So I'm in ranking around 80-200. I'm so sad to fade from this game but this game is not popurarity with who loves cards game. However I will subscribe and following you always. Love you Beasty
I feel bad i started gwent only a week ago lol ,u said something about resources is there ever going to be an easy way to get them i mean right now its a real real grind for me
I was like "I havent played Gwent in a while, lets see how the scene is doing". So sad, I was in the beta and was so excited for it at one point. Honestly, if you are a content creator, Pokemon TCG is the way to go. Those people always eat well. It's the polar opposite of Gwent, though.
That really sucks! I’ve played Gwent since it was first out on consoles, always had a blast with it. I guess when a game is as F2P friendly as Gwent, with as little marketing as it has, it can only go on for so long. Looking forward to what you move on to. Happy birthday! 🎉
So very sad Grant was a fun game with many different struggles throughout the closed beta and then maybe the open beta as well I played the whole thing I put money into it I love the journeys I loved all of the things Gwent related then I don't know if it was people in charge but they started trying to make it into more of a hearthstone game with a lot more RNG and a lot more multiple cards per turn and I just stopped playing because not only was there really no content in the game and whatnot but it's still sad to see it go and I'm still subscribed to all the grand RUclipsrs and I'll still watch whatever comes out
That's unfortunate. just started playing Gwent yesterday after seeing your guide video, and considered becoming an esports player. heh I guess that's the way it is. Anyway, happy birthday Thea.
Hey thea, do u know if the ranking system will stay in place? Sorry to hear this . I havent been watching ur gwent vids as life happened and finally when Im ready to come back then I saw this vid. Cdpr really stuffing things up everything haven't they. Ill still watch ur gwent viďs . All the best.
Happy Birthday, and thank you for all the Gwent content. I for one will stick around to see what else you want to try. I would love to see you try some other non-card games as well (I would recommend Arknights) but then again, it's up to you.
The game needs good advertisement lots of publicity this game is underrated. To much money spent on development not enough on advertising also sponsors
I don't know if you've ever played Magic thr Gathering but you should give it a shot! It's tough to break into as a new player but all my other cards games dying has really pushed me back to the immortal MTG

Totally respect it. Thanks for the transparency.
sad to know I came late to the party.
@@Kalimdor199Menegroth one of the best comment about Gwent died.
Hows the book going
You are very welcome to Runeterra, Beasty!
Happy Bday Thea! Looking forward to whatever you do next. Please never stop smiling! 😋
And I thought with the new update for Witcher 3 and new Witcher games, Gwent will probably get more players :(
I really appreciate your content over the years. So many great videos throughout the entire life of the game. In the future, I would love to see a bit of Marvel Snap content on the RUclips channel.
i started playing on the first day of beta and i cant express how sad this makes me
I still listen card voices. I will miss gwent. Also happy birthday. Wish you very best in your new journey with other games.🎉
Oh yeah that 3 rows from TW3 was something else eh.
Started playing during near the end of Way of the Witcher, used to play Gwent EVERY SINGLE DAY
A bit sad to see Gwent go, though I'm glad I got to witness that one tournament where Lifecoach came back. That really did feel ike the climax of the game
A bit of an offtopic question, but is this T-shirt being sold anywhere or just distributed to streamers etc.?
I left two years ago, as it was already too....financial, no responds, bugs, interest dying, so sorry to hear the journey is over, but I hope you will found something nice to do! Best wishes!
P.S. I still love Thronebreaker, and would love to get another story like this
the decision to alienate Russian player was a clear indication where this all was headed. The writing was on the wall
Some content ideas: playthroughs! (Like the Witcher, Skyrim, Stardew Valley), or reaction videos (like to watching the Witcher series etc)
is it a bad time to start playing gwent now? im new to the game and liked it a lot
Keep up the content mate. We will all tune in.
Hey happy birthday Thea! Too bad about Gwent, but we will stick around on the channel for sure, you're just too competent.
Happy birthday thea! I played gwent pre-release and in the renfri patch. Really love the game and sad to see it end.
I would be excited to see Marvel Snap content from you.
They are even passing on the servers? Damn... the new cards make bit more sense now with how crazy powerful and complicated they are
So if 2023 GWENT gets numbers is it a change for 2024 to keep going ?
i will miss this game deem started to cry
TY Thea for good Gwent times ur awesome & good luck on the path 🐎⚔️
Thank you for everything you did for the Gwent community. Your videos were really helpful to progress and become better at the game and I always felt that your channel was the best entry door for new players. I can't wait to know which direction you will take regarding content creation. Whatever we might think about the decisions CDPR took during the development of Gwent, it will have been a great journey in the end. (Oh, and happy belated birthday!)
Happy Birthday and good luck for the future. I guess we are all sad, although tbh I haven´t been playing much Gwent in the last year and didn´t follow the content creators like I used to. 😔
Happy birthday. The good thing about being a good streamer/content creator is people will watch regardless of what you play and I'm one of those
I started Gwent on close beta right at the beginning actually :). It's a good game hopefully they keep the server running for a few more year. Btw, you should play marvel snap next
I just started playing the game because I enjoyed playing it in the witcher, kinda sad
I just started Gwent a few month backand it breaks my heart to see the game i discovered and already put 350 hours into to go down. But I guess thats how it goes. Have a good day
happy birthday!! bittersweet though..
I'll miss what Gwent could have been... really enjoyed beta version but try as I might, the rebuild wasn't able to hold my interest more than a week or two following a new season. That said, your Gwent content was second to none and I look forward to see what is on the horizon.
I feel you
Wow happy birthday 🎉
I'm following you from GWENT. So I'm in ranking around 80-200. I'm so sad to fade from this game but this game is not popurarity with who loves cards game. However I will subscribe and following you always. Love you Beasty
I feel bad i started gwent only a week ago lol ,u said something about resources is there ever going to be an easy way to get them i mean right now its a real real grind for me
Can't believe CDPR just gave away their only live service type game
unrelated but HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
I am glad that, among other things, thanks to Gwent I was able to meet you Thea. Good luck on your next journey :)
I was like "I havent played Gwent in a while, lets see how the scene is doing". So sad, I was in the beta and was so excited for it at one point. Honestly, if you are a content creator, Pokemon TCG is the way to go. Those people always eat well. It's the polar opposite of Gwent, though.
Oh crap ... I've been trapped in Marvel Snap last two months (which I do like a lot btw) - and when I came back to Gwent - this happends :/
Gwent just feels stressful to play now. The cards have become so complex. I love the game, but the matches just don't make me want to keep going.
Hey! I think ranking remains in place. It just doesn't amount into competitive tournaments.
Happy Birthday, and thank you for all the Gwent content. I for one will stick around to see what else you want to try. I would love to see you try some other non-card games as well (I would recommend Arknights) but then again, it's up to you.
RIP GWENT :(
Looks like I’m gonna have to speed run the Common Denominator achievement
That’s not maintenance mode, that’s straight up life support mode
The game needs good advertisement lots of publicity this game is underrated.
To much money spent on development not enough on advertising also sponsors
Happy birthday :)
I was here only for Gwent but will stick with ur channel since you are a great content creator 💙
Also wish you a happy birthday 🎉
I don't know if you've ever played Magic thr Gathering but you should give it a shot! It's tough to break into as a new player but all my other cards games dying has really pushed me back to the immortal MTG
Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday!
You should try playing Legends of Runeterra.
