So, the problem is real, the problem is not with the design and most do not have the problem. There is one critical part or parameter that is important and we have not and do not know yet what it is but the good news is it looks like it’s going to be figured out! This is wonderful good news! In the group builds some times some of the presoldered parts were not soldered that great coming out of the mass production. Maybe crashes and reboots caused by intermittents caused by imperfect construction damages some thing. or... Maybe it's not related. Once it's figured out there will be one more thing we can check to be assured that our transmit audio is as good as it can be, given the limitations of the technique.
You guys are doing a great job. Thank you!

Please try to not take such voices to heart. You produce great content and people who don’t appreciate it don’t matter (for you and your content that is, everyone matters in the world, grouches). Hi Kevin, Hey man, you are looking tired! You are right, time to take a break and set the radio aside for a while. Try not to let those who are so ignorant that they do not listen to the whole story get you down.If they were ever, God forbid, got a finger on the nuclear button, we would not be here! In the 1970's, the British car industry suffered with what was called "The Friday Afternoon Car", and you guessed it, Friday afternoon, with everyone thinking about the weekend, it was rare for a good 'un to come out. To give you some idea of how bad it was, the garage I worked for had a car come in, Brand New, on a Saturday afternoon with a brake pull. Believe it or not, it had a disc brake on the right hand front wheel and a a drum brake on the left hand side! This says a great deal about the industry in the UK at the time, it (the car) went through Factory quality control and the dealer check list prior to sale and it passed them all! I'm afraid you you got the Ham equivalent of the Friday car, such is life. Hope they send you a new board, and a little "present" to compensate you for your hard work and the skill you have shared with them to improve their product. 73 Jim M7BXT

There is always a "lemon" in every product and this one was documented quite well and explained well (as Kevin did). Those people who "shoot from the hip" as they say always miss the target (aka "point"). They think they are helping Kevin out when they are in fact causing more harm than good. Most people that do this dont even own or have used the product.

We were close to loosing it along with our lifes investment. Things were looking grim when one day a fellow restauranteer, with 30 years experience, told me something I thought crazy.
He said " you can do without 5% of your customer and you'll do better". A month of thinking on what he said and the light went on. We ran that business successfully thirty years.

And, hopefully, as you document the problems with audio that can help others of us as I know I had Cobra and RadioShack gar in past where most was terrific but some sucked and yet a technician I used was able to fix most of my bad radios. The (tr)uSDX is not an appliance product. It’s a cool product/project and a nice way to LEARN. The developers have pushed the limits of minimal hardware putting out “maximum” performance. And a broken radio is always a better learning experience than a perfect radio, albeit a sometimes frustrating experience. I appreciate your efforts even if some others don’t get it. When you do an examination of an issue, with us coming along, we learn too. We learn how and why things work and how to “look into the circuit” to figure it out. This process would never be needed on a perfect radio. So, I guess I’m glad YOU got the oddball one with problems. Because you made use of the issues to help us all learn. Thank you.

    Dear OM Kevin,
Manuel has found a kind of 'solution' to 'repair' the (TR)_U_SDX-Radio, ... !
Only to re-install the bootloader and the software, 'fresh' again and the probleme should be 'eliminated', ... !
Did you try to re-load the Bootloader and the software, as Manuel adviced during his last video?
I have 'tested' my (TR)_U_SDX, on several SDR-Radios, all across EU.
Tweaking some of the parameters a lttle bit, and it's getting better!
Not the 'very best modulation', but good to hear and understand.
I made several contacts, all across Europe and also to the Asian Continent. America is still missing, because I have not 'finished' my 'High-Band'-RF-Board.
When 'switching to 15 or 10m, I'm sure, to 'catch' some US/Canadian or South-American stations, soon!
I am interessted what you will see, (and what you hear !) with 'new programmed Firm- and Soft-ware', ... !
Is the 'High-Band'-Board a challance to go further with the (TR)_U_SDX ?
    (When the 'mod'-problem is gone!)
Be so kind, and give us a report. I am very interessted, what you will discover, ... !
Wish you and all the YL's/HAM's here on this channel, a merry christmas, happy Hanuka, happy hollydays, or what ever you want, ... !

Hi Kevin, I have followed your channel for some time now!!... enjoyed watching to, just a quick observation about these tr usdx transceivers, you get what you pay for, years gone by we had a thing CALLED QUALITY CONTROL ?.. why is it that many have complained about that issue, because its that bad, plain and simple!!.. if you look at how successful the first Bitex was by asher farhan, 50usd for a basic kit, and when put together out of the box, it worked 😀 good quality control!!... I wish you luck with the problems your having, you are more than capable to design and develop multi band transceiver of your own, its what I have done, its not as difficult as you might think!... start with a DDS VFO and your half way there.

I watched a video of yours where you built your own CW transmitter from scratch with oscillator, amplifier, band-pass filter and all. Then you put it in some small can and added connectors for power, antenna and a switch to shift antenna between receiver and transmitter. You said in the beginning of that video that back in days amateurs were truly amateurs and used to build their own equipment. Why don't you follow your own saying and built your own transceiver making sure it won't have weaknesses as this blue box you have been smashing your head with for God knows how long?

Life is too short for this kind of BS . Go and have a long drink of your favorite tipple, put your feet up. And remember people are mostly stupid and look for controversy so they got something to do.
I bought a kit one due to a cockup on my part blew the main board. Got a replacement it is fine now but you are talking a small low cost design. You cannot compare it to anything costing more and expect parity. Thanks and enjoy life.

Hi. Many thanks for your valid video of the tr(u)sdx. All along you have stated that it's just the tr(u)sdx that you have, & that you cannot speak for any other tr(u)sdx.
As a fellow Radio Amateur, I value the knowledge that you have, & your excellent RUclips vlogs showing tests, & information on various topics regarding Amateur Radio, & the work that you put in to making these excellent vlogs. Thankyou. Kind regards. de Pete GI0FZT.

Always someone who is going to take offence at something you say. Keyboard worriers. I've seen others that have tested their units the same way and they just work. People can't listen. They listen, but they do not hear. They are good radios, but you got a bad one. Who has not had that happen. Part of the reason MFJ got their nasty nick nickname. They have sense upgraded tooling and automation, but still you hear it. It's not your fault you got a bad unit. Could be one piece on that board that is bad that you have not found. Even ignoring the soldering problems, the person that put it together didn't say OH this one is going to Keven, I'll put this bad part into it! You got the bad one. It could be an issue with the PCB. Maybe a couple got through that have an issue. It happens. I'd like to see anyone who never got that HANGOVER Monday item when buying electronics. It happens to all of us. If your into electronics, like a woman you're going to have trouble with one at some time. Just like I will if my wife turns her head to see what I'm typing before I go back to full screen!!!

Hey Kevin! I know I don't often comment much on your videos but don't take that the wrong way and assume that I don't love every one of them. I can only imagine you're frustration because I think you've presented yourself and the impressions of the true sdx very respectfully and carefully. Chin up man, you do fine work and I hope and pray that someday I'll catch you on the air!

There are so many unhappy folks out there. Just look at the drivers on the road (in my location and I three or four other states I have driven through lately). As a retired family doctor I see a whole lot of folks with cerebral (that’s “brain” for this that might nit know) chemistry that is not working as it should. We do live in an age where “science” and “medicine” have made great strides in this area and if the unhappiness of some is flowing over to this great and wonderful hobby maybe they could talk with their family doctor. A hobby is supposed to help us all feel better and tolerate the stresses of life in a more beneficial way. If it doesn’t do that it’s not a “hobby”. I saved a lot of marriages and relationships by prescribing some of these brain chemistry moderators in my 44 years in practice. They do work. Let those unhappy readers and channel followers take notice. There is hope out there.
Thank you Kevin for your excellent review of this problem. I am sure you will discover the cause and help those who might be experiencing it get it resolved. We need more inquisitive folks like you.
