ODST LASO with my buddy was a blast. I loved the black eye skull on that since I got really good at juking brutes and it kinda made the game feel like doom.
Eyepatch also disables magnetism on mouse, so it does have an effect and infinite reload in CE doesn't require hitting reload 3 times, you just double tap reload
I understand why Bandanna isnt included in the LASO set Its enabled for Infinite's LASO and that game, among other reasons, is laughably easy, literally baby's first LASO, and Bandanna cancels out the effects from skulls like recession and famine

Pinata funeral and boom are chaotic as hell on CE because grenades on the ground in CE can still explode so 1 grunt is a giant chain reaction already with funeral on with or without boom, but add pinata in all that and narrow tight spaces become even more deadly lol
I also feel it really breaks immersion. Most of the skull effects plausibly fit in the world, minus bday party and the flying one. I get skulls were made for difficulty but they could've gotten more creative than removing a futuristic marine not being able to see his own gun
The thing with the original Halo 2 Grunt Birthday Party skull was that a headshot on **any** unshielded enemy would cause the explosion (and even enemy corpses, assuming they hadn't already been headshot before). Was a definite downgrade when they changed it to only Grunts and confetti. (and was fun to see the physics go all out of whack when combined with Sputnik)
Foreign, Famine, and Recession are what make CE so difficult: No Covenant weapons, half ammo, shots use 2x ammo. Take them out and that LASO would be such a fly by for players who don't know the major exploits. I deeply agree that 343 was so dumb with not including bandanna, especially when it's literally apart of the name LASO. And Acrophobia/Grunt Funeral should have been a different kind of option, not skull. Everyone says Blind but I get used to not seeing my weapon (just use ur shadow in newer games lol). Crossair I am used to not having but for others, just use tape or monitor crossair option if it's that bad. Easy answer: The worst skull is the tick rate of MCC lmao.

Tilt is an interesting one, vehicles deflect small arms fire effectively, at least in H3/4 ODST and HR, but then H5 comes along, everything just falls apart
Whuppo if I remember correctly doesn't make ai see through walls but very observant. They can hear you walking and reloading, swapping weapons, turning on and off your flashlight, interacting with things etc. So they pretty much notice you no matter what, but if you crouch and walk very slowly or don't walk at all and there's nothing else to aggro them, they won't know you are there. They also don't shoot at invisible targets but will perfectly track them shil they're moving. For me, considering you can save and quit iron, and I'm not too bothered by blind other than not seeing HP and Ammo, I think the worst is whuppo as for all intents and purposes, the ai always knows where you are. Honestly, thinking back on it, its a toss up for those 3. I don't run LASO but I have tried it a couple of times and I don't think its viable without exploits and skips, and I just never had the interest in learning them. That gravemind prison section is just diabolical, same with any of the boss fights, regret in particular, as the heretic leader is easy to cheese same with Tartarus, halo 2 LASO is just mean lmao I also much prefer the original grunt birthday party, it was my favourite skull as a kid, I would combo it with catch, and thunder and sputnik and just watch the carnage unfold in cairo station XD
Haven't watched yet but no matter what Jerv says I'll still always personally think it's the Blind skull. Not even being able to see the model of the weapon I'm holding sucks me right out of the game and for that reason CE was the most fun LASO experience I had when doing them.

As someone who likes extreme challenge in games, blind and iron keep me away from laso. That and the achievements glitching too. I really hate permadeath and not being able to at least see the weapon viewmodel never made sense to me. I play ball with all the other skulls but blind and solo iron completely ruin the experience.

There’s a bit of a history here so I’m not gonna go too far into it but it originally didn’t have a name and was called the “unnamed” skull, then later whuppopotomus was supposed to be another skull that didn’t get made, but they had the name left over and it’s been applied to the “unnamed” skull. It gets kinda complicated when looking at the code so apologies for the long read. Lastly the “thats just wrong” skull is a dogshit name 343 came up with because they couldn’t be bothered to do the most basic level of research
the way skulls are categorized in mcc shows that 343 either didn't understand or completely ignored bungies design philosophy (which can be said for Halo in general). In Halo 2 they appeared as hidden modifier specific for each level. from Halo 3 onward they were seperated in gold and silver categories. the first actually made the game harder and therefore added score multipliers when campaign scoring was activated. the silver skulls didn't increase the difficulty but added entertaining effects and the had no influence on your campaign score. 343 flooded both categories seemingly randomly with new effects that they probably deemed entertaining. No thought was put into how these skulls interact with each other and how they effect gameplay. Biggest prove of that for me is that the "endless ammo" skull is in the same group as "Famine". That makes no sense if you want the classic "active all of these to make the game hard as fuck" or "active all of these for maximized shits and giggles". I hope Halo studio fixes this at some point but I'm aware that rearranging the skulls is a pretty low priority task.
Famine and bandana are not in the same category, and the what other skulls do you think are actually missorted? All the scoring ones increase difficulty, and almost all the non-scoring ones are either mostly cosmetic (grunt funeral being the big exception as the worst designed skull in the series) more ridiculous or physics based, or the cheat skulls like envy or bandana. The only ones that don’t belong in non-scoring are swarm, so angry, and they come back, but I think the reason they did that is because they don’t have a modifier and instead just increase score values.

If you play coop you just reset to the last checkpoint with iron. Blind is really not that bad except on CE
