Daniel's 70 Weeks

Israel is given 490 years to turn from their rebellious ways and put an end to sin. This is decreed by seventy 'sevens' in Daniel 9 verse 24. The timespan is given in three segments so that Israel could determine when the 490 years start.
Four decrees to rebuild Jerusalem (Cyrus, Darius, Artaxerxes and Nehemiah) are issued throughout the Book of Ezra and Nehemiah. But in respective timing to the anointing of Christ and the start of His public ministry in AD 27, the decree Artaxerxes in 457 BC issued is regarded as the starting point of the 490 years.
As mentioned in a previous study, the seventy 'sevens' are part of the 2,300 year prophecy from Daniel 8. Both start at the decree to rebuild Jerusalem as no other reference is given as to a starting date except the decree mentioned in Daniel 9 : 25.
