One thing I would write for sure: the Holy Spirit is around us and every moment. ❤ Jesus is real... my wife saw him walking on the top of a Mountain... in Santa Catarina, Brazil. Aleluia.
Thank you, Branch Together. Today, here in the USA, it is Labor Day 2023. Peter has always been my 'reality check for life'. After reading Isaiah 55 this morning, then Psalm 21, then Revelation 21, I am preparing my heart, soul and mind for September 5784. I'm taking the day off from physical chores, centering more on 'spiritual needs'. This world has changed ; it is no longer a 'familiar place ' to me. I am clinging to the promise of Messiah Yeshua to never leave me alone. I pray that your day today, is Blessed as you have blessed mine. 🙏🙏🙏 Shalom
I would tell them to ask for forgiveness of all sins.to give their life to God. To tell God they believe that Jesus died on the cross and God raised him from the dead and he sits on the right hand of God. To follow Jesus know matter what. Obey the commandments.
I appreciate this video. I found it while trying to learn more about this potent chapter I read this morning in my devotions. My greatest concern is that I struggle with self control, mostly my thoughts. Especially when I am very tired, and/or overwhelmed. I’m pregnant so my hormones are insane right now. I feel the comfort of His Holy Spirit, but I have not yet gained victory over my fleshly desires, and some times I don’t feel Him at all! 💔 It’s an area I’ve struggled with ever sense I was very young. Am I a fake Christian continually returning to filth like a dog to its vomit like Peter described? 😔
I'm also studying this chapter. The list of qualities is in a specific order, and it seems like if we struggle with one of them, the root of the problem is in one of the qualities that precedes it. When I struggle with self control in something, for example wanting to yell at my kids to be quiet and stop making messes, then I go back to the first step, faith (what do I believe about God? That he loves me, he is patient with me, etc.) Then virtue (is it right or wrong for me to deal with my kids this way?) Then knowledge (recognizing my struggle and what is causing it). And those preceding steps help me with my self control the next time a similar situation arises. Self control is "enkratia" in Greek, literally "dominion within". In psychology, self control is a conflict between ideals and temptations. As Christians, our ideal is God's will and the Holy Spirit, and our temptation is the desires of the flesh and sin. Therefore, self control is submitting to the Holy Spirit rather than temptation through sin. Peter says to practice these things "in increasing measure", meaning that no one is born with perfect self control, but we all start somewhere and grow from there.
Wow, thank you, Luke Juras! Your reply was helpful. I had some thoughts today that went along with just what you said. This solidified it for me. If I have faith that God loves me just as I am, I don’t need to stress out about how my children are acting or the messes they are making. He is kind and gentle with me. I can learn to be kind and gentle with myself and my children if I can just keep this in mind. ❤️
