    Awesome work guys!! I'm going to go up a mountain road with pull-offs which face west to try to get a shot just after sunset tomorrow night. It's going to be tight, the comet will only be 7 degrees above the horizon and setting. The next few days are going to be cloudy but I'll definitely have a second chance, though it'll be dimmer by then (Thursday is next clear night predicted.

    This is so awesome!! My solo trip to the big island and Maui was the impetus to get my first mirrorless camera and I really wish I’d had more time before the trip to learn. I spent some time learning the very basics about my camera, but the little things (like setting a 2 second timer for long exposures) didn’t even cross my radar. I got some pretty good (by my definition and that’s what counts right?!) shots while I was out there and they will definitely help me remember and enjoy the trip for years to come (which was the goal) but I do have some regrets!

    A truly wonderful video - but if this is "the Comet of the Century," it's going to be a pretty dull century. Where I live, the comet looked OK in binoculars but was only barely visible to the naked eye for one evening. You're very lucky to live where you do.

    I am a bit confused tho lol. The thumbnail says comet ATLAS, which I would have assumed is this months extremely bright comet C/2024 S1 (ATLAS) , but then the video at 0:16 says C/2019 Y4 (ATLAS). But then in the video you are clearly photographing comet C/2023 A3 (Tuschinshan-ATLAS).

    maybe im missing something but...why do they say comets dont follow earths rotation when CLEARLY you have proven they do. that comet is literally going the exact same speed as the stars are and is following the rotation at the exact same time as them. you can see the stars next to it dont even move away from the comet. they are in sync.

    • @spencerlee808
      @spencerlee808  Месяц назад

      I dont recall making that statement… but it is kinda true… Unlike stars that are predictable in where they are in relationship to one another, comets move position depending on how far away from us they are… think of it as the moon, sometimes itll rise or set at different times depending on the phase and position, but once visible in the night sky, they comet or moon will move at the same speed of the stars… hope that clears things up

    • @Eye_4_An_Eye
      @Eye_4_An_Eye Месяц назад

      @@spencerlee808 not you, i was speaking in general about how people say comets dont follow earths rotation. but clearly your camera caught an exact following.
