    I hope you guys didnt break in to the house at Death Valley Mine. It was broarded up the last time I was out there.

      +rudedogmakingtracks I wasn't actually on this trip but it's always been open each time I've been there. To answer your question, I don't think they did, we've never broken into anywhere. Tread lightly, take only photos, leave it as you found it.

      Maybe I'll go back out there and board it back up before the vandals tear it up. Hate to see it get tore up like the cabins at Ibex. Has your club ever thought about "Adopt a Cabin"?

      +rudedogmakingtracks I asked the guys & they said there were no boards, so maybe someone took them down after you were there. Some people are just assholes. We are involved in a very small way with the Riley Cabin & a couple of others, we have also been lucky to be asked to act as temporary caretakers at Cerro Gordo when Robert needs time off, but we don't have a cabin of our own. That's a good idea, we were thinking about adopting a trail but a cabin would be better. Maybe a cabin & a trail, we have people with all kinds of construction skills.

      It's a great trip, we're doing it again this fall/winter, probably a couple of times. I didn't make the video but I believe the soundtrack is "Priestess" by Pumarosa

    this route looks awsome how do i get there

    • @nikonandys
      @nikonandys  8 лет назад

      +dubzach If you want to go east to west you have to start near the AVI Casino near Laughlin, if you want to go west to east you start near Afton Canyon. The road actually goes right through the Mojave preserve. The best book to guide you through is............... www.amazon.com/Mojave-Road-Guide-Adventure-Through/dp/0914224379

    have people flooded their engines making that water crossing?

    • @nikonandys
      @nikonandys  8 лет назад +1

      +jcast327 Nobody from our group ever has, but I'm sure someone has at one time. It's usually not deep enough & as long as you keep a steady pace the "bow wave" should prevent you from getting water in the engine. Depending on where the intake is, most trucks should be fine, I wouldn't try it in a low slung street car though! :-)

      +jcast327 No worries, always best to check things out first. Have fun if you make that trip.

      +Lexis S. Thanks. Haven't heard any details yet or how it's going to effect off road trails. I'm doing some research right now, hopefully the Mo Ro will stay as is.

    Great video. Thanks. Liked that you named several of the landmarks. I have just started researching the road, via Casebier's book, Google Earth with KMZ routes, and youtube videos like yours. Seems doable. I often go solo. Only real concern is the water ford at Afton. If I get stuck, I am wasted. So as for now I plan to go to the Ford, and if it is high, backtrack and leave Afton Canyon vis Basin or Rasor Roads. Plan to go in January, 2017. Have Jeep JK 2-dr.

      We use Casebiers book for our Mo Ro trips, best resource for planning. There is a lot of great stuff (abandoned mines, miners cabins, etc) just of the Mo Ro, so take your time & do some side trips, it's worth it. We usually do 3-4 day trips.

    @7:37, You should have burned that ragged flag dragging on the ground (if it was dragging on the ground like it looks in the video).

    • @nikonandys
      @nikonandys  7 лет назад +1

      Wasn't our flag to burn, but you're correct that it shouldn't drag on the ground. The folks that put it up didn't light it up after dark either.
