  • In this video created for the special exhibition Dig Deeper: Discovering an Ancient Glass Workshop, watch our Hot Glass team generate drops of glass, hooked glass, threads of glass, moils, and folded glass waste at a custom-built replica ancient glassblowing furnace.
Debris from glassblowing like these drops were found at the 4th-century glassblowing workshop of Jalame, excavated by the Corning Museum of Glass and University of Missouri. They provide key information about the way glass was blown in the ancient world.

great videos, I would be very happy to learn about how specific types of glasses are made like this "wild" glass that we can see in these videos.

With the title, "Dig Deeper" I was honestly expecting a talk about reusing the slag glass. IMO: Some of these could be sold as sculptural objects and the smaller pieces incorporated into jewelry.
