  • I had to cut out a chunk due to size: WAR WARNING TO U.S. EXPATS IN TAIWAN & PHILIPPINES
    DURATION: JUNE 5, 2024 TO NOVEMBER 5, 2024
This shared assessment is based upon historical precedents, recent events, and 43+ years of service in the U.S. Military, Department of Defense, and AF Institute for National Security Studies (INSS). Based upon this assessment, I recommend that Expats make plans during the Warning’s stated duration in the event that: (1) Air and Maritime transportation is suddenly stopped, (2) Banks may be closed without notice to prevent a run on the banks, (3) It may be difficult to attain cash, even if you can electronically transfer funds from foreign banks to Philippine banks. Philippine banks may not be open, and ATM machines may not work. I recommend holding a large supply of cash in the event of any conflict for your Rent and Food. Any Chinese blockade or invasion of Taiwan would be catastrophic, and any blockade of the Philippines would be equally disastrous.
Overall indicators of Increasing the Probability for a Pending Global & Regional War:
    - China and Russia seeing political instability and weakness in the United States for refusing to aid Ukraine for nearly a half-year, causing great Ukrainian losses, and the arrest, trial, and conviction of a Former American President and main Opposition Political Candidate for President of the United States in 2024. - Japan is undergoing its largest Military Buildup since World War II, and reinforcing its Southwest Defenses in preparation for War.
    - On May 22nd, Britian’s Deputy Prime Minister asked all citizens to stockpile at least 3 days of food, water, radios, personal documents, and emergency supplies in case of a National Crises (War).
    - President Putin announced to the world in March 2024 that Russia is ready for Nuclear War. He really thinks he can survive it.
    - China has already taken actions to prepare their total population for War including the stocking of huge amounts of food, supplies, and defense materials. China has the largest standing army in the world, and the Chinese Navy is larger than the U.S. Navy in the number of warships. U.S ships have many more naval missiles and weapons on board. However, that may or may not make a difference to Chinese plans.
    - The Philippines is also increasing its military preparedness, purchasing additional weapon systems, building military alliances, and sharing military bases with the U.S. The Chinese military keeps pressing the Philippines trying to start a conflict.
    - Russia, China, and North Korea are conducting military exercises together in the region.
    - NATO is dramatically increasing its military preparedness. Poland is undergoing its largest defense buildup since World War II, and arming itself to the teeth. Other NATO and non-NATO nations are also increasing their militaries.
    - NATO has performed its biggest coordinated mass parachute jump since World War II. This is to show NATO’s flexibility to deploy large numbers of troops to NATO countries if quickly if attacked by Russia.
    - The United States has a large amount of military personnel and equipment along the borders of NATO countries, and sending a huge amount of Aid to Ukraine.
THIS IS ONLY A WARNING of a possible pending conflict -- not a guarantee. It is a matter of probabilities and historical precedents. I’m not taking the gamble, but preparing and stockpiling cash.

Bottom line to your comments and more, It is always good to prepare, the reality of the war situation for china to have a chance of taking taiwan has to happen before 2025 is over and this is still weighted heavily in Taiwan favor. There are only 3 countries in the world that can pull off a successful amphibious invasion and china is not on that list. But on to good news, the base buildup means there will be more benefits for veterans in the Philippines. IT also means that the peso dollar rate will grow more favorable for us as well. So how will this affect my retirement plans to the Philippines? My wife and I will be going over in a year to 18 months. She wants to return to her hometown and after following me around for 30 years I think it is time as well. the big takeaway I keep telling people half for what you see on the social media is deceptive news and needs to be taken with a grain of salt. To learn more about deceptive social media look at Ryan mcbeth to understand how that works.

@@paperburn China has not been preparing for a major amphibious invasion of Taiwan, but a mass air (paratroopers) and helicopter invasion of Taiwan. Helicopters are their chief transport of choice for troops bypassing the beaches and heading toward the interior. Doctrinal modernization change allows the PLAAF Airborne Corps to act as the principal force employed for pre-emptive attack on the enemy's key military and government targets in order to paralyze or disrupt Taiwan's preparation for a counterattack. Since most Taiwan defensive positions are around the coast, they will focus on the weaker center of Taiwan and work their way to the coast taking government buildings (Presidential Building, President's Residence, etc.) and military and police installations in the process. The Chinese Air Force will work to achieve air domination that is required to support their troops on the ground by throwing a blockade around the Island. Naval assets will target coastal defenses as the Army drives out from the interior of the country. There may be some minor amphibious operations ongoing at the same time to link with interior units. This is the guess of some who have been monitoring Chinese War Exercises and attack scenarios. However, how good is their equipment and well trained is their Army? If not, the entire offensive can collapse.

Now time for my opinion: My assessment - taken from others - is that leading up to internal US destabilization nearing the election with all of these military aged men crossing the southern US border and destruction of rule of law we will see a unified and same time conventional kick off across 4 theaters (North Korea on south Korea, Middle East, China moving on Taiwan, And Russia finally calling the red line on nato) depending on how that goes I can see desperation on either side leading to Nuke exchange. I give it a high chance but it's not inevitable. And I wouldn't let it stop me from enjoying my life with travel. Imagine not traveling and having the world end all of suddden!
I'd rather die in a happy place.

I worry that between forgetting what happens when a nuclear weapon is used, and the arrogance of thinking that the West is superior , that we will stumble into a conflict with Russia or China.
Having supplied B-52 alert pads, having visited the test site in NV, and had possession of over 1k individual weapons during my stint with Uncle, it gives me a different perspective. One BUFF had more TNT equivalent power than was used by all sides in WW2. Between 7 and 13 Mega Tons. 14 to 26 billion pounds of TNT. Up to 6 alert aircraft would pack a serious punch.
Those nincompoops are playing with fire. Literally.
Hiroshima would be the trigger for todays weapons. Fission begets fusion. The atomization, the 4th degree burns, the whole body degloving, the poisoning, and the slow death that comes with use. The rule is X number of people die instantly and 1/2 X die within 30 days.

Just take it easy, Russias and Chinas weapons don´t work, they are more dangerous to them selfs. Missiles is filled with water and Money stolen. Ukraine is a big lesson on how bad Russian and Chinese weapons are, they have to resort to WW2 style meatwave attacks with thousands of deads to take a village. LOL . USA will Know before anything happens and bad guy will be destroyed before the blink. Would be very stupid for china to use nuclear weapons, then there Invasion fleet will dissapear in a mushroom cloud, how will you invade then ?. There is a good reason that, Eisenhower? said D-day would be the Last big Invasion fleet, because its such an inviting target for a Nuclear weapon.

The animosity between China and the Philippines has been going on since time immemorial. Being a world power in business and commerce, China knows any untoward military action in the West Phil Sea will adversely affect its economy. The prospect of triggering a military war by China is a dance they have used for the last 40 years - it’s an old story. Expats like you who have been in the Phil’s less than 30 years should get used to this situation. It’s nothing new - part of China’s propaganda to intimidate those whom they can . It’s NOT gonna happen. They could have annihilated the Phil’s a long time ago if they wanted to. Would they dare start a war and lose their global dominance as a trading partner? China is the biggest exporter to the US, Europe and Central America. Would China want to sacrifice being sanctioned by these countries and lose their huge markets? I don’t think so. They’re not that stupid.

It takes a lot of money and organisation to maintain a military force on stand by for operations, Chinas huge Army on its mainland can't be moved that easily and maintained for very long. I've come to realise that Chinas aircraft flyovers threatening Taiwan are intended to provoke defensive fire which would justify a Chinese assault. Theres some complexities in the whole scenario, will the rest of Asia (Thailand, Malaysia; Indonesia etc) stand by waiting to be picked off if things escalate ? Whats the real operational effectiveness of those Chinese units ready for deployment ? Can China sustain its major combat assets (Ships, Aircraft; AFV's etc) in the event of a long escalating conflict ? Irrelevant of the CCP's propaganda and rhetoric do the Chinese people in general have the will to fight a War off-shore away from their own country ?

When China was poor, it wasn't claiming any island that is too far from it but so near to Southeast Asian countries and Taiwan. Crazy. It was a poor, well-behaved country in the old days. MONEY IS POWER and it is in a bad way with China. It is a member of UNCLOS, but it doesn't respect its decision favoring the Philippines, saying that China has no legal basis on its claims. Without the US as Philippines' and Taiwan's allies, the two countries would have been damaged already. It doesn't care what the world says. Awful. Many Filipinos, however, aren't afraid to die. But it's not worth it. The big question: Is the US ready for its signed treaty with the Philippines as a war ally?

I'm a Filipina, legally immigrated to the U.S. as a young girl. It took me almost 10 years going thru the process back in Pinas and cost my family tens of thousands of dollars. I was interviewed 5 times by the U.S. Embassy starting at the age of 9 and constantly tested me, orally of my knowledge of The United States Constitution, American history, Bill of Rights, the 3 branches of the U.S. govt, American civics and current events at the time. Passed ALL of it.
By the time I was given permission to step foot on American soil, my family was broke but that's okay. We were given the opportunity to be in one of the best countries in the world at the time.... or so we thought.
The American govt has been running amok for several hundred years. The Founding Fathers gave Americans a blue print of how to "govern" the people who were "elected" back when there was still election. Unlike today when it's a "selection."
I'm a staunch Constitutionalist and an extreme Conservative. I'm beyond republican because they're the same side of the coin as the democrats.
The Founding Fathers fought and died, many came out of the war with nothing including family members and only for Americans who were born free give away their liberties so freely.
I will never understand that. And I'm not apologizing for my belief and neither should you. I may disagree with you, but it's your God given right as well as mine to have our beliefs.
But one thing I discovered shortly after my arrival is that Americans were and still are giving their liberties away.
There's hardly any American liberty left.

Even though I am not as strong as I was when I was a young soldier in battle, I still have skills and know how to train and plan strategically, tactically, and operationally. Other American and Australian combat soldiers living here will do the same, and I am sure they will be joined by more expats of other countries like us. We were all brought here by war, where we learned about this paradise, its wonderful people, and its culture. We liked our R&R time here after our tours in Vietnam and elsewhere. That is why we came back here to retire. We will not let anyone take this country nor harm its people. During WWII, my dad fought here. He told me that his Filipino friends were always there for him when they fought.

We recently had a president that regularly lied as if it were normal behavior. The process went something like this. The lie is introduced/suggested. Next the lie is repeated over and over until there is great comfort with it among the masses. This is followed by learning to love the lie as reality. Finally the majority believes the lie to be fact or alternative truth. Inaccurate and false statements and lies may lead nations to eventually wage war between them because of what they believe as truth and not by what they should know as truth.

Everything in the article is factually true and it is the basis for some concern. But having a larger geopolitical picture is worth another 1000 words. Basically, China has a border dispute with its rival, population-wise, India and the 2 sides actually exchanged shots last month in the Kashmir region, which has been in dispute since 1962. If China gets too ambitious in the south China sea and starts a war, they risk driving India, Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia and every other southeast Asian country into the arms of the Americans, and losing access to trade, which is the only thing that has kept them afloat the past 3 or 4 decades. China has spent a lot of time and effort to become a super power and wouldn't give that up so cheaply. So yes, be concerned but don't panic.

Make no mistake; if China wanted to make a (serious) move, The Philippines would be in their sights. There is a reason the U.S. has tried to keep good relationship with Filipinos and why it remained there for a long time. The Philippines is located in a key strategic location.
This is why China is interested in it as well (as well as their expansionist goals).
The Philippines is one of the places China has been trying to infiltrate for a while now. They've planted themselves around the globe and spies and agents have been discovered in various governments and businesses - including in the U.S..
They've also been buying a ton of land around military bases and nuclear sites in the U.S. - and only recently it's been noticed.
The Major powers of the globe have been setting up the board.
We have the situation in Ukraine with Russia, China and Taiwan, the Israel/Iran situations and China has also been making moves around India.
    The board is being set.
I worry for my friends in the Philippines (I have many - ex pats and locals in the Cavite area). If things reach the breaking point, I assure you the Phillipines will be one of the targets of major conflict.

Hi Steve. I'm glad the article mentioned that Taiwan was part of Japan until the end of WW II. In fact Formosa (Taiwan) and some other islands were lost by China as long ago as 1895 when China and Japan got into a war over Korea. Then after Japan surrendered in 1945 Chiang kai Shek who had fought Mao and the Japanese during WW II was losing to the Communists rebels on the mainland, and needed a place for his government. Chiang and his troops (I heard 10,000) went into exile on Taiwan. Taiwan has never been part of mainland China since 1895. Propaganda aside it's not a renegade province either. Japan officially gave up Taiwan in 1952 and by then the Nationalists and Chiang had established control of Taiwan.
Yes the war clouds are on the horizon and China keeps saying they want peaceful relations whenever there is any communications, but then do such things as fire water cannons at Philippine ships and try to ram them in the Philippine's EEZ almost a thousand miles from the closest Chinese land.

She wants to return to her hometown and after following me around for 30 years I think it is time as well. the big takeaway I keep telling people half for what you see on the social media is deceptive news and needs to be taken with a grain of salt. who is the other 2 ? I agree its very hard to pull off a amphibious invasion, especialy in Taiwan (USA had plans to do so in WW2 but gave it up), China has never tried to do so, and never in that scale. Its hard to combine all (Sea,Land,Air) in real time. Taiwan has a strong Airforce, Airdefence and dug in all over the Island. Taiwan also has a lot of Anti-ship missiles, so they can sink the Invasion fleet when they start invasion. not many will survive that.
