Out of all the legendary lightsabers that exist within the former Legends, these lightsabers created by Tenel Ka Djo have to be one of my favourites! Thank you for watching everyone, and I hope you enjoy today’s video.
@Star Wars reading club...too bad she didnt sleep with Jacen more. If she had: maybe he wouldnt have left due to boredom and begun travelling...or fallen to the darkside even though it was telegraphed 13 books ahead...even though the ending was obvious twin vs twin: i get it you could have done that in NJO...
And if she'd JUST slept with him more/put out more...maybe i'd have continued reading Legacy...meh oh well: once yin yang began screwing up the NJO: I knew the PT had infected the EU (now Legends) and that the end was near...
Fast forward 4 years...Legends is dead: the interest destroyed...as PT lore aka Chinese Yin yang and Balance: doesnt sell then: or now.
Ugh vids that mention Legends are just sad now. This lore is SO watered down: Tenel Ka's TRIBE: NO LONGER EXISTS: AS ALL NIGHTSISTERS: ARE EVIL.
Thanks clone wars: for watering down force witch lore: for kids. Destroying their ability to sell: ability to be used in canon as they get wiped out: and their ability: "to be cool."

Lol if you think lightsabers from Disney are expensive, you should try getting into the hobby of lightsabers and you'll notice very quickly that there are much MUCH more expensive sabers out here. For example, do some research on starkiller lightsabers and search up Starkiller Graflex 2.0.
Ah Tenel Ka Djo, definitely one of the most underrated Star Wars characters. I certainly agree with you SWRC. She certainly had one of the most unique sabers in Star Wars history.
Indeed. Yet another proof of how Star Wars never had a problem with female characters when they're well written badasses, unlike Ma-Rey Sue, Admiral Gender Studies and Rose.

They ended up having a child together through twenty years later, go figure.

Allana had a great destiny and Tenel Ka remained queen of Hapes.
It also wasn’t completely his fault if I remember correctly. She also was rushing when she made it and it malfunctioned during the exercise.
They were constantly crushing on each other. Jacen gave her a compliment in another book and Tenel Ka's face turned bright pink (and Jaina noticed). Everyone noticed.

What is really messed up is what Jacen became in ~40 ABY.
During the Vong War Jacen became "one with the force" aging five years in a matter of seconds and getting incredible power to defeat the Vong. Well, there is a problem with this (Mara Jade raised the problem of Luke overusing the force in "Vision of the Future; this was one of their long talks they had and Mara said anyone who uses the force as much as Luke generally ended up going to the darkside). Force users can become extremely addicted if they overuse the force. The pure godlike power flowing through a Jedi is more addictive than any hard drug. Way more than Meth or crack etc. Jacen went on a five-year journey traveling around the galaxy to get more power after the Vong War and his "oneness." He eventually pursued negative emotions as it tapped into more raw power.
He should have chilled the hell out, gotten some Yslamari, and gone to Hapes and hung out with Tenel Ka. Spend a year detoxing with her (not using the force much if at all). She would have loved that as she had been pursing him for years. He had been tortured by the Vong for an extended period of time, lost a brother and other friends in the war, and aged five years in seconds when the "will of the force" granted him oneness. She had lost her mother and had no one she trusted besides her father in Hapes.
Jacen also lost his empathy because to him "oneness" with the force was a gift so he should not be upset if he has to kill people (making his victims one with the force).
Jacen became a "force druggy." It was really stupid as Luke, Mara, Jacen, and others should have seen the signs by that point. In Survor's Quest Mara ask Luke to not become a "super Jedi" and they fought a droid. Luke could have crushed it in two seconds but Mara and him chose to use the least force powers they could. The Jedi way is restraint. Jacen convinced Tahiri to flow-walk to see her dead love Anakin Solo (who she thought she could save this way). By getting Tahiri to overuse the force Jacen turned her into a force junky like him and a darksider.
Tenel 'ka was my favorite character in the Young Jedi Knights series and wow has it been a long time since reading it! I forgot about her smashing her tiara for the crystals.
Its odd to say this about a fictional character, but I personaly had quite the crush on her. Wich ofcourse was encouraged by Jacen doing so as well.

I feel like I would have either a VERY creative looking lightsaber woth wood and steel, like the kind from the old republic times, or very basic boring one, like just a steel rod with a button and clip. Mabey it would also say, "Subscribe to Star Wars Reading Club"

@@starwarsreadingclub haha ya that's true. Palpatine has one of those designs that's a combination of simple elegant and just over all cool looking, and coupled with the fact that it's very practical for dueling (especially his style) it matches his personality very well!
Now that's a character I didn't expect to hear of on this channel for a while yet! Definitely one of the most unique lightsabers, and quite a design - thought it's nothing compared to those of Palpatine and Dooku, in my personal opinion. I prefer elegance over the beast, even if it fits into a hand. This lightsaber really represents where Tenel Ka is coming from, both sides of her heritage, which wouldn't be possible with the canon's "Kyber crystal only" policy
Since its a rancor tooth she can bludgeon people with it too.
I'd figure that kyber crystals are so rare and expensive that a tiara in the hapes could use kyber for the jewels just because of how expensive they are. Plus if I'm not mistaken, the hapes consortium was rather neutral at times. If so during the grand Republics days then they could get away with that since Jedi wouldn't be allowed without special dispensation to visit.
The young Jedi knights series was so amazing. Id highly recommend it to anyone.
Psh, that's nothing. A Tulak Hord lightsaber will set you back at least 90 million credits on the GTN.
I always liked to hear about alternative crystals you can use in lightsabers I wouldnt mind watching a entire video on the different type of gems you could use in lightsabers

About half way through this I remembered the Clone Wars episodes of the apprentices building their first lightsabers and one of them turning it into a freaking grenade.

I knew this was going to be Tenel Ka's saber because of the one-handed grip.
The young Jedi Knight's books is what got me first into reading. First chapter book I ever read was Heir's to the Force. I am nostalgic because the source of this video is those books.

On the her lightsabers I look at them in a way similar to how Snake looked at Ocelot's first revolver in MGS3 Snake Eater, looks and engravings provide no tactical advantage unless she plans on selling them at an auction.

This story makes Tenel Ka look like a rich, spoiled princess. "Oh, I'm so special, i need a lightsaber with crystals so expensive I could buy a whole planet with them!"
Couldn't have said it better. So you're a jedi what do you do?:
A: Help the weak, poor and impoverished (an entire solar system's worth of them).
or
B: Get some mad bling to show off your brothers in the hood.
Goes to show Luke's Jedi Order wasn't as damn perfect as the fans will say. The lack of disipline, tenets and guidance encouraged major idiocy like this. She let her attachment to her background culture get before helping billions of people, not to mention the bling gives her no tactical advantage what so ever, quite the opposite apparently. A real Jedi, especially a grand master, would have given her a major scolding. The way I see it, having a lightsaber like that goes against everything the Jedi stand for. I can see a Sith feeling the need to stroke his/her ego to the point of having a bazillion dollar (credit) lightsaber.

Altho, in the book, she is pretty much the opposite. She used the expensive gem in her lightsaber was her way of comming to terms with her royal heritage, wich she to that point had rejected in favor of the simpler dathomirian one. By combining the hapan gem with dathomirian helmet she accepted the combination of both her home cultures.
Have you actually read the books? In the books her character is nothing like that whatsoever....
As the Crown Princess of Hapes Consortium Tenal Ka Djo and with her mother being from Dathomir is key to the design. And also a rainbow gem from a Hapan Tiara

Was Anakin ever "encouraged" to study Form V, specifically Djem So, in preparation for him to confront and destroy the Sith as foretold in the ancient Jedi prophecy?

See.. stories and ideas like this are WAY orders above and better then anything Disney has been doing. She's lucky it cracked and didnt explode immediately which so close together it coulda killed them both. Who shoulda both been paying attention to stuff like that.
All she needed was a new Crystal and stable yet personalized hilt. Id fished a new and better volcano crystal and bought a cruiser for my flagship

Did the Rancor tooth have any unique functions as a lightsaber hilt? Was it more sturdy and/or easier to grip than the metallic ones? Did the tooth end act like a curved hilt and/or quick stab weapon? Or the tooth just used out of sentimental value?
Before I watch the video, this is what I know about it. It belonged to a Jedi in training named Tenel Ka who aas being trained in Luke Skywalker's academy. Before going to be trained in the ways of the Jedi, she was a princess i believe? She used the tooth of a rancor to craft her saber and the unique teal blade comes from the unqieu Kyber Crystal from her Tiara
For those not knowing tenel ka djo and jasen solo had a doughter together so it was a bit close relationship between them.

But Tenel Ka would not let somthing like this become a hinderence for her physical abilities, and there are so many ways to make up for it. I suspect she could make Jacens little rancor quite busy and very happy.

Well, species of Night Sisters is not certain. TCW is both Canon and Legends, and it established Ventress as Night Sister. But did not retconn her being of Rattataki species.
Besides, if male Dathomiran Zabraks existed, female Dathomiran Zabraks also had to exist, otherwise the species would die out.
Also, if we count in migrated species, then most of them lived on Dathomir during the Galactic Civil War, being placed in Imperial prisons on the planet

She lost her arm up to above the elbow he said. Her severed arm wich still held the saber in it's hand was destroyed when it fell on the ground and the saber exploded. Must have been a grisly sight.

Wait. While training or sparring they turn down the lightsaber to avoid injury. The worst is singed clothes hair and slight burns when on low.
Not in the NJO, frankly Luke propably doesn't even hear about "training lightsaber mode" what with him being pushed straight under the Vader-bus with a real thing and having to learn on the go (and most of the sources of the Jedi knowledge destroyed; they somehow had more ancient sources then pre-imperial😏). There was some talking about lower density of the blade when using 3 crystals, but it was appareantly too fancy for a practical first-time-builders of at that moment almost exctinct art😏... Also - meta reason: most of the books was written before prequels, they began connecting things after that sometimes a bit clumsily😉. That's why Luke and Leia found out about Padme and Naberrie family side in 36 ABY...
That lightsaber was the most unique and expensive but the video doesn't say if it was stronger than regular lightsabers to make it worth the risks it ensues. Not only the materials make it extremely impractical for maintenance issues but they turns the owner into a target for all the Galaxy's thiefs.

its because they dont want the arm ( or lack thereof) to be the pictures center of focus. its to make you focus on her strength and "wild beauty" not on her supposed handicap.
I've noticed for as long as I've been listening to him that he says the word important weird and it demands that I notice every time I hear it he also says it quite a bit so I notice it quite a bit. Then I noticed in this one that he also says the word out like a Canadian so maybe that has something to do with it. I know some of you will probably saying what is the relevance of this but I have to say something after thinking it and not commenting on it so many times if anyone else has had this thought please let me know, I would love to know that I am not the only one who notices this because if I am I'm going to feel like quite the weirdo. 🙂😬

I don't want to call Star Wars created by George Lucas as legends, because of all the Star Wars Disney created George Lucas Star Wars is still the truest of both version. Where the current Star Wars Disney created are just more in the half baked attempt without even researching or attempting to create a Star Wars feel to the story that more of the current movies are just another sci fi film nothing more. And by Disney attempt to cash in on another galaxy in Star Wars is just another attempt to not check on their story on how you it will come to be.
The book, comics and games were never Canon. Lucas works includes only the movies and the TV shows. Lucas saw the Eu as fan fiction.

Untrue, he saw that as part of the lore, just not his lore. He obviously couldn't keep up with everything, so he appointed Leland Chee to keep continuity together. But he still servedas advisor in many projects, from Thrawn Trillogy to TCW. He even adapted prequels to contain stuff, that he according to you treated as "fan-fiction".
Make a research on the subject. Searching "canon" on Wookieepedia does not hurt

Did he state that EU is a fan-fiction? No. He acknowledged EU as actual lore, he will try to be consistent with. Besides, as I said, he was involved in many projects, often altering stuff or presenting his own ideas.
He was involved in EU, he cared about consistency, he gave advise and opinion to EU writers/producers and he acknowleged it as lore, just not written by him. Hardly a "fanfiction".

She seems a bit decadent for a Jedi.
Quite the opposite. She kind of resented her Hapan royalty heritage. Only when she made peace with that did she consider making a saber representing both sides of her heritage. Her first saber was not only flawed on a technical level, but on the spiritual level as well.
The weapon was ineffective because she put her hubris ahead of her duty to others. Her fixation on its appearance and symbolism was self-absorbed to the point of making it impractical and ridiculously expensive. A true Jedi would put aside such egocentricity and use that fortune to help others. She may have rejected her royal heritage, but Jedi are supposed to detach themselves from such self-centered symbolisms, and focus on what will do the most good: A shitty light saber won't protect anyone. The entire concept of this implement is by its nature decadent, and goes against everything the Jedi believe in. It's more in keeping with the mentality of a Sith.
@@justinwallace269 She was human, with human flaws. Not to mention only aged 16 at the time. Also, Lukes new jedi order did things diffrently from the stagnated, emotion supressing ideals of its predecessor.
She suffered from hubris, that is true, before learning from her mistake. This does not negate what Gzaerix said, tho.

An explanation is not an excuse. What makes Tenel Ka an interesting and likable character is that she is human. Flawed. The heroes journey requires improvement through experience. Perfect characters are unrealistic and quite boring, not to metion an unreasonable demand from an authority figure. The inability to let jedi be people is one of the main reasons why the older jedi order failed, wich can be seen in the prequels.
As for focus on symbolism or appearance, this was not what made her weapon fail. Just the fact that she rushed it, thinking there was no point in having a good tool since it was the hand holding it making the accual work. A flawed logic, but not one based on superficial values.
In other words a feminist lightsaber which focuses more on fashion than function lol
