I really want to get this mask, i use a prototype Active from 2003, that i got from my boss, just sat on his shelf this entire time. Amazing mask. also, love the classic, Text message buzz on the camera. i used to have that issue a lot
Steven Lord Well, I could, but ultimately -- to be honest -- it comes down to personal preference, as far as "best for performance" goes. For protection, obviously a certified cage will be best. A "cheater" and cateye cage are both relatively unsafe, with the latter being slightly more unsafe than the former. So while I prefer cateye cages, there are plenty of people who prefer a cheater cage (which I personally think is ugly as sin, lol), and most juniors and college goalies wear certified cages. Maybe sometime I'll get around to a video like this, but it'll be a while since most masks I order have cateyes on them. Hope that helps!
Okay thanks. Sorry for asking on two videos (thought this video was too old of a video to ask a question)....The reason I asked was I thinking of buying a gold CCM cheater cage for my team colors and putting it on my wall W-4. I hope it works but I'm not sure.
Hello! I was thinking about purchasing this helmet but when it came to the chin length option I was a little confused. The customization options are great, but when it comes to the short or long chin length on the helmet what possible benefits/ consequences could occur? I am just unsure whether or not I should order a long or short chin ha! I did do some research but not many discussions on such a topic...
+Anastassia Nelson Great question! Some goalies prefer a long chin for two main reasons: if you don't like wearing a dangler or neck protection, the long chin gives you a bit more protection in the neck area; also, some goalies just prefer the long chin look to the helmet. Personally, I prefer the look of a regular/short chin and I wear a dangler with my masks, so that's why I go with short chin. Hope that helps!
because the options that you are telling me, such as the chin sling back plate, and the take a picture option aren't on the wall website that I can see.
Ahhh, yeah. The guy from WaLL is friends with my painter, so I ended up with the custom sling and backplate straps. It's not available straight from WaLL that way.
Thanks so much for answering all my recent questions. Do you know if wall makes any cheater cages for the W-4 mask? My standard cage that came with my W-4 helmet has taken a real beating and has a ton of chips and dents in it. It's time for a new one. Will any other company cages besides Wall work on the mask I have. I appreciate the great help.
***** I did, and they're made by Doug Wager (which you can find my review of his handiwork here: ruclips.net/video/Wb_L0l2OUhk/видео.html&lc ). He works with WaLL doing the paint, foam, and assembly, and since he knows how I like my masks he made the changes right there for me, and I'm sure he can do the same for you!
dino brunetti You can see it best at about 1:01, but I'll do a video on this soon, too.. there's a couple ways to do it, so I'll show a couple different methods. It's hard to describe, but the method I use is to string the lace through both vent holes at the ear and then attach it by running both lace ends through the hole in the dangler, then make a knot so it always stays in that one place. If you make a knot the more traditional way, the dangler and strings can rotate a bit, and that drives me nuts, lol. You'll see in the vid.. I'll see if I can get it up this week! Stay tuned!
***** While that's true, it's still a consideration for the individual goaltender. Some masks are better than others for painting in certain areas, and this one has a fantastic area for lots of detail in the forehead and upper head, while the sides might be a bit more difficult for detailed designs. I'm really looking forward to seeing how my ultra-detailed design comes out on it.. stay tuned!
Haha fair enough I'm sure Jonathan quick has a similar side on his mask but then again it is not exactly what u would call detailed. Looking forward to your design I'm thinking of getting mine done maybe just a big bullseye on the forehead haha :)
***** LOL Reminds me of every time I wear my helmet cam my opponents go, "I'm going to try to hit that." To which I respond, "Go ahead.. that means you'll be missing the net all game." LOL.
This isn't related I'm just really excited haha. Was just on with the snl (Scottish national league) the way it works is peewees u12,u14,u16,u20 snl and if you are good enough nihl the eihl which is on par with echl with some Hal guys and one or two 4th line nhlers. But I'm a u16 goalie and only been playing since April but I've come on so far and managed to shut the door the best I could on these guys after 2 sessions prior! Haha I just really happy :)
***** Very nice, Jonny! Keep it up and you'll keep developing.. I didn't start until I was about 13/14 and by 16/17 was up in Canada playing. Keep it up!
Have you tried out the Wall W-10 yet? I'm thinking about getting it soon. Just seeing what your thoughts are on the Wall Mask. Thanks

Do you think you could create a video explaining the different types of cages and which is most safe and best for performance?

+shane ryan No worries! I still haven't heard back. You might want to contact them on Facebook. They're usually very responsive.
did that work?

It definitely helped! Thank you very much!
Awesome! You're very welcome!
can some of the narrower paddles on players sticks get through the eye opening?
+erichansen82 Absolutely. It rarely happens but certainly could.
Did you buy your mask from the wall website or somewhere else.

+shane ryan Good question, but I don't know the answer to that. I'll see if I can find out!
Did you get the chin sling directly from Wall when you ordered it, or if not, where did you get it? I've been looking to try one out.

Wow! where did you get t-shirt Siberia ?
Дмитрий Булейко Ebay! Haha!
Hockey club Sibir, heh.
Nice shirt man:))
Thanks, Dmitri!
Where did you buy that mask from and how much
WaLL had a sale a few years ago and I picked it up at a discount. Can't remember how much it was, though.
Haven't seen videos from you in a whike
How do you tie your throat guard on your mask?

GoalieCreaseNet I just tie them and melt them with flame.
Well, there's different ways of tying them. :) I used to melt mine, but I haven't thought to do it in a long time, lol.
i've heard that these helmets/mask explode is that true
What?? No, lol.
the w4 and above are absolute tanks
Or a Bauer gold cheater cage for that matter
No videos in a while
Yeah, no real interest, tbh. Maybe someday.
Ok ty for getting back to me
To be fair I doubt goalie can and mask paint is really in the fore front of the designers mind over safety
