    Last question is simply:
    5/7 * V = 35km / 80min
    so V = 35/80 x 7/5 = 0.6125 km/min
    (or 0.6125 x 60 = 36.75 km/h)

    The last one could be solved in an easier way I guess. By using, Time = Distance / Speed, let speed be x
    80 mins = 3500 meters / x
    x = 3500 / 80 = 175 / 4 (on simplification)
    Further, 5 / 7 of x = 175 / 4 (Since it is 5 / 7 of actual speed and OF always means multiplication in Maths)
    So, x = (175 * 7) / (4 * 5)
    = 245 / 7
    = 61.25 ANSWER!

    When T is constant D is directly proportional to S.
    So if D gets multiplied by 3/2 so does S.

    Great video! If I could add a suggestion about something that would have helped me. When you set up the problem 3/2D-D=15 the logic was a bit unclear. I would set it up first as 3/2D=15+D and explain as 50% more distance traveled is equal to an additional 15 miles to the original distance. Then you can move the D over algebraically to 3/2D-D=15. Again, this could only be me personally, but might help some people reading comments.

    Can you please solve this with your method::Two coal carts, A and B, started simultaneously from opposite ends of a 400-yard track. Cart A traveled at a
    constant rate of 40 feet per second; Cart B traveled at a constant rate of 56 feet per second. After how many
    seconds of travel did the two carts collide? (1 yard = 3 feet)

    The last question can be solved directly by S = D / T
    Suppose x is the original speed, then here S = ( 5x/7); D = 35 km, T = 1.333 hr.
    Hence, the ans is 36.75 km / hr. which is equivalent to 612.5 m / min.

    3/2T-T = 1/2T. You're looking for T (actual hours, I presume) so 1/2T= 1 hr. Then 1/2T*2 (b/c you want T as an integer), 1T= 2 hrs.

    You see the distance travelled is different . Don't look for initial distance. Intial distance should be used only to find how much B travelled. Hope this solve your doubt

      Step-1: Make all the units same. i.e, 5m/s=18km/h
      Step-2:Let the constant speed be "S" km/h. Hence the required equation is: 90/S - 90/(S+18) = 2.5
      Step-3: If you try to solve this quadratic eqn., it will take time. So, in objective type questions put the value of "S" from each option and check which one satisfies it.
      Here, by hit and trial, one can easily say S=18km/h. I think you got the answer.

      Hi,
      Thank you for your comment. Can you elaborate the question?

    • @sarika1907
      @sarika1907 8 лет назад

      Alright. Your solutions for this vedio requires that atleast one of Time, Distance or Speed is constant. For Nancy question, She goes from point A to point B and met with an accident somewhere on the way (this distance is not known). Your solution however assumes that the distance travelled before and after the accident is same, which is not true. So actually, the method in this video should not be applied to this question. I don't know where I am wrong!?

    • @perfectscorespremium
      @perfectscorespremium 8 лет назад +1

      In that question the time of meeting the accident is the starting point. So we will disregard anything that happened before. The question asks original time beyond the point of accident.
