I’ve been thinking about Spirited Away for a while and think I may just go ahead and get it. But I really love Painterly and how it gives my lips the perfect flush; it really does do what Lisa intended it to do, by emulating that flushed lip look in older paintings. Lisa’s lipsticks just reign supreme for me.
I agree! Lisa's lipstick are super unique, and have an amazing ability to look good on so many people. Spirited Away is such a great color. Just enough, not too much. I reach for it so much.
A bit late on commenting here. I decided to purchase a few of Lisa's lipsticks and your reviews of them were fabulous in helping me choose the right shades for myself. It has been so much fun getting ideas and your breakdown of various categories was perfect. Your description of Lisa's color combinations makes so much sense. She does seem to put a magic into the process. I now own many of her reds and pinks and chose Spirited Away for a nude, which I think will work. Using cosmetics is fun and your enthusiasm is so much like my own!

There were bullet shapes featured in two books about lipstick. The books were published at roughly the same time maybe 15 years ago. One book tried to determine your psychological characteristics based on what your worn bullet looks like. The other book had a series of color photographs of worn lipsticks.

Hi! Would you say that someone that has Painterly (and loves it) needs to look into Velvet Muse? I’m considering it but wouldn’t want it if it’s sooo similar that it’s interchangeable! Thank you!
They're certainly similar, but for me it's all about the textural difference. One is glossy and sheerer, and the other is matte and opaque in one swipe. Colorwise, I think that Painterly is cooler and deeper.

I was hoping it would be helpful. That's why I made it. It's the sort of video I would like to watch before making a purchase. Obviously, I purchase everything site unseen, and only looking at the promo photos, but that seems to work for me with Lisa's lipsticks. If I had a lot of lipsticks from this brand that I didn't wear because they didn't suit my skin tone, I don't think I continue to purchase as many. I feel like Lisa has a special, magical ability to create shades that work on a wide range of skin tones. They're literally my favorite formula. ( know she has three formulas, but I love them all.) Thanks so much for this review! I’m a huge Lisa Eldridge fan but I’ve had hits and misses with my colour choices in the past so I find comparison swatches so helpful. The colours all look lovely on you! I’ve a fairer skin tone and Muse looks too dark and heavy on me, although the gloss is great and one of my faves! kitten mischief is my favourite lipstick so far but I’m keen to try le Mepris when it’s restocked 😊
I'm glad you found this video helpful. That's why I made it. I always love seeing products watch next to each other, and on the face. In the dead of winter, when my skin is even lighter than it is now, Velvet Muse can be a little harsh if I wear it full force. I don't feel like I have my lighting perfectly balanced to show my actual skin tone. I usually wear the lightest or second lightest foundation or concealer in every line. I recently went to swatch the new Lancome Ultra Wear Glow foundation, and there isn't a shade light enough for me. 🤷♀️ I wear shade number two in Lisa's foundation. If my understanding is correct, the first four shades are all the same shade level, with different undertones.
I love those twinklers you have in your ears in this video, Rebecca! The stones almost look like tiny laboradorite rondels, are they crystals? I love your Lisa lipstick swatch videos. I only have two, Painterly and Rose Official, and am dying to get more but I just can't swing it atm. Doesn't stop me from putting them in my cart, though. Right now I have Wonderwheel, Palazzo, Meet Me in Berlin and Night Thoughts in there. I haven't tried any of the Velvets yet but if I were to get one it would probably be Velvet Muse.

I wish these lipsticks weren't as pricey as they are. $36 is a lot for a single lipstick. I'm fortunate to have as many as I do, and I appreciate you taking the time to watch today.

I wore Painterly and Velvet Muse all fall/winter last year. I think I need Spirited Away and Velvet Fawn now. This is a red, but to me it's so neutral: Palazzo. I just got on Saturday because I was scared to buy it with my original summer order, but when I tried on Palazzo I was blown away. It's the most perfect red ever, and it is a neutral everyday for me when applied lightly

I love putting it on full force, and waiting for it to kind of wear down to that nearly not there shade. I think it works so well because it does have some warmth to it, and a very wearable brown undertone. Painterly and velvet Muse are such favorites in my collection. I reach for them all the time. @@thelipstickgal No, I just ordered Palazzo after seeing you and someone else try it, even though it wasn't in my first summer order, and when the box came in the mail I ripped it open as soon as I got it inside my house and put it on for the first time in my front hall mirror, so that's what I meant. I would love to go to a pop-up store in London, but I am in the U.S.! I would so love to see Lisa Eldridge and have her suggest colors, although I really do think you almost can't go wrong with any of her colors! Anyway, I think Palazzo is the red I have always wished for.

I finally did a LE shop this past week after having done a no-buy month in July. I chose Spirited Away as one of three (I didn't try for the new colours this time), and boy, do I LOVE this colour as a nude. It's a bit pinker than I thought it would be but there's enough brown that balances the pink. This is definitely going to be an everyday favourite. I also picked up Rainbow Spill, a colour that I had been wanting since it's first launch 2 years (??) ago. Along with Atomic Cherry, I have been so happy to have these in my collection too.
Rainbow spill is such a fantastically bright shade. It's not an everyday pink for me, but I do enjoy wearing it. Atomic cherry is fun, but I always wanted it to be more red than it is. With a name like Atomic Cherry, I long for more red. Spirited away is such a beautiful shade. On my very pale lips, it's just gorgeous. I like that it does have that pink undertone while still being a nede shade. I always prefer my nudes to have a pink undertone. It just goes better with my own coloring. Good for you for keeping yourself on a no-by. I need to do one as well, I feel like I've been going a little crazy with purchases recently. Were you doing no buy July with Hanna?

Not sure if our no buy made a big difference but there is a sense of sisterly solidarity among many in the beauty community which is strengthen by such challenges.

What fun! Love these “neutrals”-alas, Le Mepris is out of stock (and has been since almost the first week of launch!!)! I have both Painterly and Meet Me in Berlin and do love them-they do subtle, nice things for my naturally mauve-y lips. You’ve made me interested in trying Kitten Mischief, although I have a deep-seated fear that it will turn out to be one of those chalky pastels from the 1960s! And since I was there and wore them, to my detriment and to my onlookers’ horror, I know whereof I speak. Thank you for this very helpful review!! I am so hopeful that Lisa will be bringing out even more of her luxuriously lucent lipsticks for the holiday season, and as I understand it, I think those drop in October, is that right?
I haven't been keeping up with upcoming launch info. I never know about Lisa's launches until they are announced on her RUclips channel. I sometimes get the newsletter, but sometimes it ends up in my spam box. 🤷♀️ I'm usually afraid of those chalky pastels too. I remember wearing some very chalky shades in the 80s too. 🫣 Kitten Mischief is so easy to wear, and not at all chalky on me. Check out the swatches on the models. I didn't think it would look good on me, and only purchases it for review purposes when it launched last June, but I really enjoy it. It was my go-to lightweight nude until Le Mépris came out. I feel like Kitten Mischief looks better on me than the lightest beige Lisa has, but I wear them both. I'm surprised both of these shades work on me, since I've never been able to wear shades this light from other brands. I've been vacillating over Kitten Mischief, worried it would be too light (though I'm very fair in complexion, I have dark eyes/eyebrows that need something to balance them on the bottom of my face). I think I'll pull the plug after this video since our colouring is very similar and it looks great on you and it would look perfect with bolder color eye makeup (like with Lisa's new Sorcery palette). Spirited Away would e an insta-buy for me except it looks remarkably similar to MAC's Business Casual which I recently got and which is very similar in formula to the Lucent lipsticks. It looks just a bit red, just a bit brown and just a bit berry/rose and bronze - really hard to describe but it does look like a dupe for Spirited Away. I feel like I can put mascara and that lipstick on and that would be good enough for the day, and it balances my eyes perfectly. Once I've put a good dent to it to justify a purchase, I'll grab Lisa's version :)
If you already have a similar color, skip Spirited Away. It's one of my most reached for lippies, but it's the only one I have like it. I really like Kitten Mischief. I initially thought it would be too light, but it's perfection. A light shade that isn't a concealer lips look. I really like it. If it's helpful, I wear 1N0 on Estee Lauder double wear, shade 90 in Lancome foundations, and shade 2 in Lisa's Seamless Skin Foundation.
I bought the Lucent in palazzo and it doesn't last on me at all. Settles and cracks on my lips. Why is everybody saying they're moisturizing. They're really not. I also have a velvet matte and that's even worse. Any advise?. I feel like a wasted a lot of money here
I'm sorry. I don't have these problems. I don't know what to tell you. When I'm wearing any lipstick, I always start out with highly moisturized lips. (I religiously put on lip balm throughout the day, and exfoliate my lips daily.) I always remove any excess lip balm before applying lipstick, but I never have problems with any of Lisa's lipsticks drying my lips out. I feel like making sure my lips are hydrated helps me with any formula I'm wearing. When my lips get dry, the more likely I am to have color settle in the cracks. That's just me though. I can get a solid 4 hours out of Palazzo. It's not as long wearing as the Velvet Lipsticks, but for a sheer lipstick, it hangs on pretty well. I don't lick or bite my lips, so I have some extended longevity compared to someone who might. I hope that's helpful, and you can figure out how to make these lipsticks work for you. If not, I'm so sorry.
City Beauty clear gloss. It’s the only lip treatment you’ll need. I put a tiny bit on before bed and lips are still hydrated next morning. Same for daytime. No peeling lips. No cracking. All good 👍🏻
My kitten mischief is missing somehow- so frustrating. And I recently moved and have many things in storage, just praying it hangs in there until I find it!

Kitten Mischief is so easy to wear, and not at all chalky on me. Check out the swatches on the models. I didn't think it would look good on me, and only purchases it for review purposes when it launched last June, but I really enjoy it. It was my go-to lightweight nude until Le Mépris came out.
I feel like Kitten Mischief looks better on me than the lightest beige Lisa has, but I wear them both. I'm surprised both of these shades work on me, since I've never been able to wear shades this light from other brands. That's why I feel like Lisa is a magician when it comes to creating wearable shades. They're just so good!

I've been vacillating over Kitten Mischief, worried it would be too light (though I'm very fair in complexion, I have dark eyes/eyebrows that need something to balance them on the bottom of my face). I think I'll pull the plug after this video since our colouring is very similar and it looks great on you and it would look perfect with bolder color eye makeup (like with Lisa's new Sorcery palette). Spirited Away would e an insta-buy for me except it looks remarkably similar to MAC's Business Casual which I recently got and which is very similar in formula to the Lucent lipsticks. It looks just a bit red, just a bit brown and just a bit berry/rose and bronze - really hard to describe but it does look like a dupe for Spirited Away. I feel like I can put mascara and that lipstick on and that would be good enough for the day, and it balances my eyes perfectly. Once I've put a good dent to it to justify a purchase, I'll grab Lisa's version :)
If you already have a similar color, skip Spirited Away. It's one of my most reached for lippies, but it's the only one I have like it.
I really like Kitten Mischief. I initially thought it would be too light, but it's perfection. A light shade that isn't a concealer lips look. I really like it.
If it's helpful, I wear 1N0 on Estee Lauder double wear, shade 90 in Lancome foundations, and shade 2 in Lisa's Seamless Skin Foundation.
Would you be open to comparing velvet cinnabar to besame's reds...I wonder if it's similar?
I only have three of Besamé's reds. Victory Red, Cherry Red, and Red Hot Red. I'm not sure it's close to any of them. 🤷♀️

I bought the Lucent in palazzo and it doesn't last on me at all. Settles and cracks on my lips. Why is everybody saying they're moisturizing. They're really not. I also have a velvet matte and that's even worse. Any advise?. I feel like a wasted a lot of money here
I'm sorry. I don't have these problems. I don't know what to tell you.
When I'm wearing any lipstick, I always start out with highly moisturized lips. (I religiously put on lip balm throughout the day, and exfoliate my lips daily.) I always remove any excess lip balm before applying lipstick, but I never have problems with any of Lisa's lipsticks drying my lips out.
I feel like making sure my lips are hydrated helps me with any formula I'm wearing. When my lips get dry, the more likely I am to have color settle in the cracks. That's just me though.
I can get a solid 4 hours out of Palazzo. It's not as long wearing as the Velvet Lipsticks, but for a sheer lipstick, it hangs on pretty well. I don't lick or bite my lips, so I have some extended longevity compared to someone who might.

City Beauty clear gloss. It’s the only lip treatment you’ll need. I put a tiny bit on before bed and lips are still hydrated next morning. Same for daytime. No peeling lips. No cracking. All good 👍🏻

My kitten mischief is missing somehow- so frustrating. And I recently moved and have many things in storage, just praying it hangs in there until I find it!
I hope it's being stored upright. 🤞 I've had so many things go wrong when I lose track of a lipstick. I hope yours turns up in perfect condition.
