Glad this video seems more honest, went to watch another women's who sounded like she was trying really hard to be an advertisement and literally as soon as she blurted out: this video is sponsored, and I noticed her comments where disabled I was like I'm out of here
I've been using Home Chef weekly for the last two months and this has been exactly my experience. the food is fresh and cold, the veggies always look good, nice meat as well. Very easy recipes and most of them have been shockingly good. Awesome service. Just make sure you check the website or app on a weekly basis to be sure you pick the meals you want.
polygon have you tried other food services like Blue Apron? If so, how does home chef compare. Regardless, do you think the service is worth the price?
I haven't used any others but my sister uses Blue Apron and she's mentioned that she likes it, but I don't have any details to compare. For me though, Home Chef has 10+ meals per week to chose from, while Blue Apron has about 4-6 if I remember right. I feel like even if the services are 100% equal, this puts Home Chef ahead because one week I might want low cal/low carb and another week I want some pasta or comfort food. There are enough choices that I can pick what I'm actually in the mood for rather than feeling like I'm being told "this is what you eat this week". As far as the price, as a single person cooking for myself it's absolutely worth the price because one meal is two servings, so 3 meals lasts me 6 days. Also the quality of the meat they give you is very good. You'd never be able to buy this kind of meat + all the ingredients at a store and have it average out to $10 a meal - if you're single you know how hard it is to cook for 1, you can only ever buy way too much. So for me, this is basically perfect. There have been several meals like the green peppercorn steak where I'm eating it thinking "I'd of paid $25 for this at a restaurant". Hard to believe I cooked it myself!
Thanks for the reply. I bought the first week last night for the family plan 3 meals for $55. I don't see any option to adjust the 3 meals that are currently selected. I'll try looking again tonight
If you go to your account you get a calendar for a month into the future. You can click your delivery date for any of those weeks and add/remove meals all you like. :) Hope it works out for you!
So I am trying this program for the first time and I bought the 5 meal package as an individual. I get a meal for two people. My thinking is that I can separate them and get twice as many meals. When the price comes into play I found that for 69$ initial with $30 coupon it was a no brainer. That's 10 meals at $6.90 piece. That's a subway sandwich price for a good restaurant meal. Even without the coupon it's $89. That's still only $8.90 a meal. I guess what I am saying is if you broke down a meal that you would have to buy in bulk would it be similar? I really think the price point is right on. If anyone wants to break it down please do. Personally I am sold for the convenience as well as the the quality. Plus in bulk I tend to waste a ton of food especially the vegetables. On Home Chef you can pause the shipments. I basically can do every other week. That's almost the same I would pay a month anyway for groceries, approximately $200 month. And really most of it, vegetables, get wasted. No guilt for wasting food anymore.
TROPIXSTARZ so from this comment you gathered that every millennial can’t cook. You have to cook even with these boxes so i fail to understand your logic. Also not everyone is interested in the same food and use this for variety. But there are many factors that need to be accounted for when looking at how much a meal cost one of which being the economy. This comment is two years old yet you took the time to compare today’s economic prices to that of two years ago. Seems like you have more problems than us “millennials” needing to learn how to cook. Maybe your generation should have taught us since y’all are doing so much better.
TROPIXSTARZ i can do math perfectly fine. I’m also aware a roast in my city plus state and local taxes is over $15. And that’s just looking for the smallest roast plus the cost of carrots, onions, celery, stock, herbs, tomato paste, and seasoning it will cost me more than $1.87 per serving. Like i said your logic is flawed because you have to take in taxes, cost for the economy in said region, etc. But again since you have such a problem with our math and cooking maybe you should take some time to teach instead of bashing people. It says a lot more about your character that you can lump a whole generation off of your miseducation. Especially when you take in consideration that we didn’t raise ourselves.
TROPIXSTARZ hmmm you just showed your intelligence in that conversation. Not future seeing as though i already have a degree and I’ve been working in my field for almost two years now. But what do i have to prove to you? Nothing. Its amazing you think we’re the issue with math when several people from your generation came up with common core math. Like i said my math is perfectly fine because i had an amazing teacher. I don’t have a subscription to any of these mail ordered meal services because my mother taught me how to cook and how to bargain shop. However I’m still aware that people in different states and cities aren’t going to spend the same amount on food which clearly you can’t grasp that. Thank the lord my mom is part of the baby busy generation because she’s always taught me everyone is teachable you just have to figure out how they learn. So I have faith for your generation. Oh and i don’t need anyone’s credit card i have my own and i don’t even use it. I hope you have a lovely day today. Try adding more fiber to your diet it helps with being grouchy.
Jessica Killian cool my grandmother can’t drive anymore and i worry about her not having everything she needs so i was looking into something for her i might give it a try and see if she likes it
Great review! They've started offering meal kits at my local grocery store and I love it. $17 to $19 for 2 servings ( can stretch to 3). Great quality and zero thinking after a long day.
cristianna west I agree . That is exactly why I would not consider buying these meals. It's sad to watch all the packaging that went into this . All the plastic , foam and who knows what else. All I kept thinking of was the landfills filled with all this packaging that could've been avoid.
@@Orlanzepol123 Same could be said for stores. You do know stores have a lot of packaging like that before they put the stuff out on the floor. Maybe not as much for food products, but the store I work at has 1/4 of each of the freight boxes being just packaging and foam and cardboard.
+Ivonna H So far pretty much all the contents are recyclable, but you might want to check out my video on Terra's Kitchen, they have very little waste because they use a re-shippable container.
If you buy groceries organic from Costco or Trader Joes then your meals should always be cheaper. Even when I make seafood, my meals cost under 6 dollars per person. The trick is to buy the stuff that is on sale, not at full price. Let me give an example, organic tortilla chips+ onion, shredded cheese, 28 Oz can of organic tomatoes diced, can of organic beans, crimini mushrooms(bulk) chilli powder=9.5 or 3.16 per meal. 4 dollars if you add shrimps, or organic beef. Most people waste money when the cook
Wayne Henry I don't think they'd be in business if a signature was required. If someone has time to sit at home waiting for their meal delivery, they may as well go to the grocery store. Lol
I just filed a Paypal dispute against HomeChef. I was made to pay before even seeing what the meals are!! The selection is few, and the ONE meal that had ingredients I liked, I could not order more than one of. WTF? So, am I supposed to order meals with ingredients / vegetables I hate? I think not. If you had let me SEE the meals BEFORE paying I would not have gone to the trouble of joining, I would not have left a bad review, would not tell my friends that I think it's a scam! But... that was not the case. They make the client PAY FIRST, then see the product.
I just kept checking the meal menu and waited until I found a menu I liked before signing up. Seemed pretty easy to me, and they give you a hand full of menu items to pick from. Honestly out of the three I have reviewed, this one is my favorite.
You actually can review the meals, make changes and skip weeks. You can even review meals before joining. I love Home Chef I have had zero problems and have been using them for about 6 months.
Those ice packs are disposable and non-toxic. They're meant to be used once, and then you cut them open and pour their contents down the drain and throw out the wrapper. I've found you can only reuse them maybe once or twice at most, as they tear and leak very easily.
+PAMELA SEYMOUR For anyone who uses Bank Of America cash back rewards credit card, their system treats Home Chef as a grocery store and you'll get 3% cash back.
I don't see this as being very practical. There is a lot of packaging to dispose of. If you do cook on a regular basis, you probably have many of the ingredients on hand already. Some of the premium ingredients are simply not necessary. If you have to stick to a grocery budge, most people are depending on $3 to $4 a plate if not less. If you are depending on leftovers which are always nice, this is a no for certain. If you have to commit to several meals, that's a no also. If you are a seasoned cook, shop for yourself. If you are lazy and have money to burn, then by all means burn it.....
It can be! If you have time and reason to shop and you buy these meal kits because you simply don't want to go to the grocery store, then yup, I'd tend to say laziness may be the motive. But if you have a super busy lifestyle and this service saves you an hour of time to be more productive and to do more important things in your life, then its exactly the opposite of lazy. Different strokes for different folks!
Maybe. But I don't throw food away from buying too much anymore and I've gained a bit more time to do more productive things. My trash container and recycle bins also have way less waste by the end of the week than when I was grocery shopping and my vehicle usage is one less trip per week. I may be paying more, but that is helping someone somewhere be employed and I'm ok with that.

Was it the “best season is postpartum season” chick?
As soon as I saw that it was sponsored by them, I was done. Haha
Literally just came from that video! 😂
Probably we saw the same video
That was packaged really well. And an average of $10 per meal.... Thats pretty good!

We really enjoyed our Home Chef meal. Cooking it was a lot easier than we thought it would be - the pictures at each step are a great addition.
Ok so only a couple minutes into this I see that a big part of the cost to use this "service" is packaging!
yea and imagine the horrible landfill waste each week X however many customers

That is a lot of food! Great video.
Did you have to sign for the package, that is a big deal for me since my partner and I are usually not home during the day.
That is a big deal for me too, and no, I did not have to sign for the package.
Wayne Henry no! They leave the box
No it's one of their main selling points actually and why they refrigerate it so well.

Great video, thanks👍
Thank you for sharing how much all that costs you???
Thank you so much for this video. Do you pay every week or how does it work??
Thanks for the review. My curiosity was killing me.
Is each order for two people or one? If one , then how much more will it cost?
What in the hell happen to good old fashion grocery shopping and saving money????
LOL. I think some people found out they could use the hour it takes to grocery shop to do other creative things. ;)
I can't get over how wasteful all this packaging is. People get this every week? SMH
They have gotten better since this video, but there is still a lot of waste.
Thank you!
Thanks, it was very hard to find a "unpacking" video for home chef.. thank you
