wow I work as a trucker for costco in NJ , so im in all the stores around nyc. The Monroe NJ depot is the distrubution center that supplies eastern Canadian stores. We have hundreds of trucks delivering nearly 1000 loads every day to all the stores. So the freight expense to get product there is massively diferent then in the states. Those prices are way higher. Its bizzarre where people are getting money to fund life.. Credit? I work here and barely buy anything because the prices are wild. Maybe a bag of apples or a bag of huge tortilla chips or some cheap work pants
As a canadian, when i was in college, we used to joke about the difference being the CAnadiana tax. Automatic price increase, just because they can. just like how, at stores, the same product labelled "for women" will be much more expensive than one without the "women" reference. A dermatologist went to a drugstore and pointed out this outrageous gouging. Rogaine, for instance. In bottles labelled "for women", was double the price of the one not labelled "for women". The packaging made it look the same, but there was HALF the product in it. Sellers do it, because they can. I wonder how much of the freight increase is a legitimate taxes and levies, vs price gouging. But, if you're sick and need medications or healthcare, can't beat our prices!
Yeah, not sure what Costco is doing with their meat prices. We are members but have gone back to a small butcher for our meat when we do buy it as Costco is out of sight. Many other things are becoming suspect too as it seems food manufacturers have all hopped onto the price gouging band wagon. Only necessities for us now.
I figured it was something like that. But who's actually really spending forty dollars for 2 bottles of shampoo and conditioner? Not many people I know and I know a lot of rich people.
I used to shop at Costco everyday here in the U.S. during covid because I was working as an Instacart shopper. I never understood why people shop there. It is not cheaper to buy in bulk at least not at Costco. The bills are always in the hundreds of dollars. I ended up getting a membership to get cheaper gas and i did get my glasses there. The glasses were a fantastic deal. A fraction of the cost of what I'd normally pay with bifocal lens. The food items in the deli and bakery sections are good and sometimes you can get a good deal but most of the other food items are too expensive.
I quit cosco years ago the membership fees were outrageous! Paying them inorder ti shop in their stores 😅😂 maybe its my age ! Anyone remember price club shopped there when my kids were young

Those Rib eye steaks are like 2.5 lbs each why the heck are they cutting them so large? The whole strip loin for 202 is actually a good deal! Less then 12$ a lb is great. That's 5.67 an 8oz serving and like about 30 servings in one loin. Plus some extra for ground beef or chop steak sandwiches.
I dont know how canada costco is selling any meat. Wowza. Here in WA state costco is more expensive for meat, really good quality. Not that expensive though.
dude #1 Beef prices is outragous right now EVERYWHERE # 2 you looked at the price of ORGANIC beef and the most expensive cut of meat and was appalled. #3 costco has the best meat quality over all grocery stores (yes you can get some equal quality) but in general what you are buying in the grocery stores is lesser quality unless marked and up priced. I am not thinking you know much about food buying and haven't been to a grocery store in 5 years but wake up call those are prices of food now!

3 years ago I was buying whole cooked chickens at the Mexican store for 4,99 big chickens I do not know the price now the only meat I eat is sardines cheep and good for you. if I had children these days I would have to turn to the life of crime to feed them I keep saying food can not go up much more and everyday it keeps going up. shop smart and wishing everyone the best.
Costco doesn’t mark up much on any item so they’re playing a ton for that meat as well. Costco doesn’t make much on selling items. Most of their profits come from membership sales.
Hmmmmm....well....here's what I found The revenue of Costco, the American retailer operating warehouse club stores, has gradually risen year-on-year in Canada reaching approximately 33.1 billion U.S. dollars in 2023's fiscal year. This is an increase of over 15 billion dollars since 2015.
that's what i heard too! they've been very successful recruiting members. and have staff follow you around hounding you to get a membership. i got a cash card as a gift. i had to line up at membership, listen to the song and dance about how they're losing money on cash cards. had to get my picture taken and use up the entire amount on that visit. or go through the entire song and dance again! Then they got very creative and introduced the executive membership at double the annual fee....
Have to compare price/kg to price/lb and convert $CAN to $US. When you do the math, at least the shrimp look reasonably priced compared to WF. Meat/seafood is high everywhere. I don't eat animal products or prepared food and can't speak on those items, but do shop Costco (US) a couple times a month for some fruits, veggies & paper goods when needed. Spinach is cheaper & fresher than any store in my area.
You Show Fresh Tilapia Fillets, $17.99 per kg. First, let’s convert the price from Canadian dollars to US dollars. The current exchange rate is approximately 1 USD = 1.36 CAD1. So, $17.99 CAD is approximately: 17.99 CAD×1.36 CAD1 USD≈13.23 USD Next, let’s convert the weight from kilograms to pounds. There are approximately 2.2046 pounds in a kilogram2. So, the price per pound in US dollars is: 13.23 USD/kg×2.2046 lb1 kg≈6.00 USD/lb So, if something costs $17.99 per kilogram in Canada, it would cost approximately $6.00 per pound in the United States, given the current exchange rate. Please note that exchange rates fluctuate, so the exact amount may vary. At Walmart, it's $7.16/lb. That is $1.16/lb more than Canada.

Hardcore buddy ! Am financially struggling albeit grateful that my rent & electricity bills r paid & got food, coffee & tea..... CEOs & rich artists & athletes need to do some charity this holidays.....hope so....love ya !
Best wishes. Thanks for the comment and watch.
As a Canadian I have never had a Costco membership. While they had some great things over the years, I always was a person who purchased just what I needed. I never bought in bulk. You incorrectly looked at Burt's Bees but gave the price of soap.
Oh, it's all the same. Lol. Unaffordable.
Monday morning.... these people dont work or what, seriously. Most of people nowadays dont produce anything and you still wonder why prices go up? In a economy where people dont work hard and produce and create things, where the goverment print money your currency loose value... ITS very simple, what you dont understand?
And don't forget,13% tax on top of those high prices for non food items!!!!!The 13% tax also applies to a lot of prepared food... government looks at it as a luxury!!I live in Canada, our country is circling the drain!
I think you’re referring to Ontario, not all of Canada. Some provinces have higher taxes and some lower.
Gotta love the govt 🙄
If we bought and served those meats including chicken wings to family or friends, I would consider it a formal dinner. Everyone would be required to wash their hands prior to sitting down and use proper table etiquttee after seated. A 4oz serving of meat or one whole chicken wing would be a portion.
Lol.
i like that you round up the prices, it's a waste of time to say 99,it just drags out the video
Whoa 🤯 those meat prices are crazy. We just bought a 2 pack of organic sirloin steaks for $11
With beef that high, they can't possibly sell it all. I wonder what they do with the meat past expiration date?
Food banks get it. Seriously. The poor eat well sometimes
Generally they throw them in the garbage
@@comptonvansluytman389 Yeah, I knwo someone who used to work for mcdonalds a whjile back. they stopped donating near expiring foods because they got sued. so it all got dumped after that. I'll bet costco does the same. who wants to get sued?! I'm curious, when they had all those dumpster diving videos on youtube, if anyone dived through costco's
Get ready for it in America - starts in Canada, then hits the West/East coasts and bleeds into the central USA ... last time it took all of 3-4 months for prices to jump in the midwest when C-19 shut things down. I was missing my chickens then, I can tell you!
You are at the Warden and 401 Costco - I used to live in that neighbourhood.
Were you from CJ? That expensive low carb bread is worth it for diabetics or people with insulin resistance.
Thanks for the education.
If you look at the label of Cheap olive oil and you see multiple countries is most likely diluted with seed oils, it’s very bad for your health! Good olive oil (expensive) is only from one country which is Italy! 9:23

Is it like the only store for 20 miles?
Sals has been in Ajax for over 25 plus years, nothing extravagant, but there prices you just can't beat.Born and raised there, moved 25 miles away bur still come back to shop at sals, you can't beat the prices.
I love sals
This should make every canadian proud that we give Trudeau 12000 per month so his family can eat real meat, no lab meat or bugs , ever wonder what the bill from taxpayers is for all these politicians?
He makes me 🤮
$12,000 a month is nothing.... Its $144,000 a year.
My daughter is allergic to gluten products all of them . Unfortunately have to buy gluten free products, yes it’s really hard to afford them , do without some things so your kids can survive.
Actually…..6 containers of Secret deodorant is a great buy…6 divided by $24.99 is just over $4 a container….
In the states they are $5-$6 for just one…
Yes it is
I shop at BJs and will not buy anything unless I have a $2.00 coupon. At Walmart I only buy off label items milk, cheese, coffee, OJ..... I make over 6 figures and have just 1 child. I do not understand how people are making ends meet. Now I know why Jackson was against a Central Bank in the 19th Century and Jefferson in the 18th Century.
Is there a Grocery Outlet there?
There are a number of them.
Honking like it’s Venezuela 🤣
If you know, you know. 😄
Omg, I get those 3 tilapias in 8 dolars in México 😲🤯
I can't stand how busy this location is all the time. I switched to overlea and go in right at 9am lol only way to get front row parking or heck hit it at 7 pm lol
Always good watch and know your prices at the Costco!
Germany calling. You should do a price comparison between North America food prices and European food prices. Although weights might not be the same for some products, Europeans tend to have smaller size packaging. A price comparison would be interesting.
I've done a lot of research on the Germany grocery market and the European market in general. When it comes to food prices, grocery stores and restaurants are much cheaper in Europe than they are in North America. And I wonder why that is?
OK where I am break down .
At.costco but only thing we buy there is hubbies gas as we have free membership still till April. Otherwise to expensive for our food. I shop at aldies and a meat market.
Costco break down ..Caesar salad
9.99. ...red Thai chicken curry $13.00. Mexican 13.00 and the pasta lasunia 15.00 and I buy my steaks at a meat market 4 gorgeous fat thick steaks 16.00 and hamburger 10 pounds 9.00. And we buy 50 pounds of meat prepackaged bulk organic pork r,ibs, steak and so on for 67.00
That is absolutely incredible. Do you mind sharing your region of the country?
@cjgoeslive SE coast otherwise I'm way way up north for summer which is cold as well. When we're way up north I tend to buy from the Base .
but are these prices in CAD or USD? your making it seem like this is dollars in us with these prices at first i thought it was crazy but converting its a bit more then costco us but not what you are making it out to be that 270 CAD it was 199 USD and it was 28.42 per pound def higher then US but i am pretty sure it's at least 24 per pound in us for choice not sure if it is prime or same as in canada prime costs 31 per pound in us so if it is prime its cheaper then us but either price is too much i would not get it
Well it's filmed in Canada, so.....
@@cjgoeslive well yeah thats my point you mostly film in us and you live in us right? so most people are not converting to usd so you really should have made it clear that when you say dollars canada dollars to clarify btw those stupid grapes you mentioned are very high in antioxidants one of the best and really good for you but yes food prices are high but why are people not making videos on how high video games are cars insurance homes clothes etc etc would you rather pay more for good food or pay more for everything else and eat like crap just so you can have alot of material things and still be paycheck to paycheck it just does not make sense to me not saying you but in general with people but yeah you being a pa guy and me from the past i know how most people are there put nice cars and material things over proper nutrition thats what i did not like about western pa they made it seem like only the rich can eat organic or healthy foods cause you need that nice sports car right? other states people see health as alot more important then western PA
Sorry to hear and see that your food prices are sky high.
Boy our friends up north are really taking it on the chin for food holy smokes , I thought prices were bad here in Ohio but nothing like this , I wonder what the canadian and us dollar exchange rate is if any , Good video thank you !
Our dollar is around 75 cents on the US dollar.
Thanks for watching. Even with conversion, it's still more expensive up North.
@@lightgiver7311I got 74 cents at cibc

Right now it's $1.40 for a U. S dollar
Prices are high here in eastern PA but nothing like that. I remember wings for 25 cents a pound, showing my age lol
Yeah, that was only about 5 years ago
I remember when wings were free with a pint of beer during happy hour at the local pub. Seriously.
I’m staying in the USA!!! Outrageous prices!!!
wow I work as a trucker for costco in NJ , so im in all the stores around nyc.
Rusk shampoo & Conditioner use to be a Salon Exclusive Brand ,, it’s a very nice product,, but way too expensive!
I figured it was something like that. But who's actually really spending forty dollars for 2 bottles of shampoo and conditioner? Not many people I know and I know a lot of rich people.
23 dollars will cost you for a secret? And 85 poops for 60 dollars??? LOL
I can’t imagine how much food gets thrown out! 11:42
It's mostly donated and written off so I'm told by store managers
All olive oil is expensive. Some of their prices are good if you break it down from large sizes to what it cost for smaller ones in regular stores.
True
I remeber these prices for meet were normal in Switzerland 10 years ago......USD 80 PER 1 kg filet.
Wow! Really? What is it now?
I used to shop at Costco everyday here in the U.S. during covid because I was working as an Instacart shopper. I never understood why people shop there. It is not cheaper to buy in bulk at least not at Costco. The bills are always in the hundreds of dollars. I ended up getting a membership to get cheaper gas and i did get my glasses there. The glasses were a fantastic deal. A fraction of the cost of what I'd normally pay with bifocal lens. The food items in the deli and bakery sections are good and sometimes you can get a good deal but most of the other food items are too expensive.
Thank you for sharing the audience
I quit cosco years ago the membership fees were outrageous! Paying them inorder ti shop in their stores 😅😂 maybe its my age ! Anyone remember price club shopped there when my kids were young
Thank you for commenting, and you are spot on
Notice that nobody had any meat or very much food or other things in their carts .so all the people coming to America that lived in a poor countries and think that Americans owe you everything think again
Those bottles of balsamic vinegar looked a little dusty. Guess most people are passing them by.
I feel sorry 😢 for the people in Canada
Two kilo meet we can do weekend shopping here in The Netherlands
Is that good for you?
@@cjgoeslive yes because $170 for meat its really expensive
We get severely ripped off here in Canada, everything we buy is marketed sky high
Not long before soilent green shows up.
It's called beyond meat
dude #1 Beef prices is outragous right now EVERYWHERE # 2 you looked at the price of ORGANIC beef and the most expensive cut of meat and was appalled.
Well, unfortunately for you, you're wrong and 11 million viewers have tuned in to my videos. How many views does your channel have?
And that's after you've paid the obscene membership fee that they keep raising every year. 🙄
If Canadians REALLY want to cut back on living costs It is VERY SIMPLE!! No.1 SHUT DOWN ALL immigration and refugees in Canada for the next 10 yrs. No.2 TOSS OUT Trudeau and ALL CARBON TAXES!! No.3 Personally I will feed and take care of my own Canadians FIRST and Far most ( DISCLUDING immigrants and refugees ) Roll back 60% and put a TAP on rent , and all Food. Now let us see A REAL PROTEST across Canada in Favor of all I have mentioned here for Canadians!! COMMON SENSE RULES CANADA!!!!
You were wrong on the salami. The sign was for the 3 chub pack. The unsliced ones above the pack you held up
That IS odd for a Costco to be that busy on a Monday morning. You guys didn't have some Monday holiday, did you? Wouldn't people normally be at work on Monday morning?
Thats what I thought
that's what I call "working" from home! Have ya heard? some work from home employees are straddling 2 full time work from home jobs! gives the hard working ones a bad name, and spoils it for others

I just love Costco on the weekends. I wake up early n wake n bake. Then leave to Costco for the opening at 9am 🇨🇦🥶👽. N get ice cream
Ahahahaha. Winning!
In the UK that Beef Tenderloin for CAD$270 would be a max of about CAD$78 (£45)
3 years ago I was buying whole cooked chickens at the Mexican store for 4,99 big chickens I do not know the price now the only meat I eat is sardines cheep and good for you. if I had children these days I would have to turn to the life of crime to feed them I keep saying food can not go up much more and everyday it keeps going up. shop smart and wishing everyone the best.
There Will have to be a breaking point somewhere. Verizon prices in inflation are completely unsustainable.
Costco doesn’t mark up much on any item so they’re playing a ton for that meat as well. Costco doesn’t make much on selling items. Most of their profits come from membership sales.
Hmmmmm....well....here's what I found
The revenue of Costco, the American retailer operating warehouse club stores, has gradually risen year-on-year in Canada reaching approximately 33.1 billion U.S. dollars in 2023's fiscal year.
Then they got very creative and introduced the executive membership at double the annual fee....
i use to pay $15 for the shrimp cocktail 2020..lol
One has to wonder how much credit card debt these people have.
Well, I know for a fact in the United States. We're delinquent about three trillion dollars in credit cards
insanity
Have to compare price/kg to price/lb and convert $CAN to $US. When you do the math, at least the shrimp look reasonably priced compared to WF. Meat/seafood is high everywhere. I don't eat animal products or prepared food and can't speak on those items, but do shop Costco (US) a couple times a month for some fruits, veggies & paper goods when needed. Spinach is cheaper & fresher than any store in my area.
No, that is not what it would cost for me. Take 26% off those prices when you factor in today's US/Canadian exchange rate.
Canada food is just so dearly expensive
The Costcos in Canada are no different than the ones by me here in the states!!!
You Show Fresh Tilapia Fillets, $17.99 per kg.
First, let’s convert the price from Canadian dollars to US dollars. The current exchange rate is approximately 1 USD = 1.36 CAD1. So, $17.99 CAD is approximately:
17.99 CAD×1.36 CAD1 USD≈13.23 USD
Next, let’s convert the weight from kilograms to pounds. There are approximately 2.2046 pounds in a kilogram2. So, the price per pound in US dollars is:
13.23 USD/kg×2.2046 lb1 kg≈6.00 USD/lb
So, if something costs $17.99 per kilogram in Canada, it would cost approximately $6.00 per pound in the United States, given the current exchange rate. Please note that exchange rates fluctuate, so the exact amount may vary.
At Walmart, it's $7.16/lb. That is $1.16/lb more than Canada.
Thats awesome! Thanks for the education.
Spare Change, "SPARE CHANGE!!!!" 🙏🙏🙏
Lol
😮 This is scary! If these prices come to the U.S. we're really going to suffer.
They are on the horizon. Next year.

There is about a 10% chance you will save money at Costco. Then if you add in the fact you end up throwing away some of the old "bulk" size products its a losing deal.
@msgmak1379 - That's why I don't buy a lot of items from Sam's. I make sure I finish off what perishables I do buy. Too scared to buy fruit for fear it WILL go bad before I can finish it. Glad paper products don't have expiration dates!
