I have a 10 year old Rottweiler (I rescued her when she was a 7 weeks old. My cousins grandson got her as a birthday present for his girl friend. As soon as the mom heard her breed she put her foot down and said get rid of it because it wasn’t staying with them) and an almost 4 year old American Pit Bull Terrier (rescued him from a back yard breeder who wanted to put him down with a hammer because “he’s the runt, no one would want him and he wasn’t worth a vet bill”). Neither of them are mean. All the kids in the neighborhood come over to play with them. The only issue I have is that the pit still thinks he weighs 2 pounds instead of 70. Both have been neutered or spayed and both are chipped. I had to get a bigger bed because they actually kicked me out of my own bed! I’ll never forget the innocent faces when I looked up at them from the floor. Next day I went from a full sized bed to a queen size bed. My daughter asked if I would rescue another dog now and I had to tell her not now because my bedroom isn’t big enough for a king sized bed. 😉😊

I had 2 dobermans when I was little, the only time I saw them semi aggressive was once i came home from school (i was a latch key kid at the time) and the dogs had a couple guys pinned against the fence in the back. Not all up on them or anything just standing there growling. The guys told me to call off my dogs but they weren't listening so i went back into the house and called dad. He said " leave the dogs alone and lock the door, im on my way" the police showed up first, turns out they had robbed the house nextdoor and just hopped the fence, but Jake and Ursula don't play 😂.

I used to work in a hardware store where the owners were very dog friendly so we had a bag of treats for all the dogs. I saw one huge pitbull whose owner was a regular drag her into the store for treats, hilarious. By far the biggest dog was an American bulldog we called "big head dog" as he had a massive head. He weighed maybe 200 pounds but he was the biggest sweety, loved the attention and would roll on his back for belly rubs. By far the most aggressive dogs were the chuhuahuas and other little dogs. Because of their size their owners didn't properly socialize them. We had one we called Joe Pesci. He'd come right up to you strutting like he owned the place and bark for a treat. He wasn't badly behaved but he was most definitely the alpha and one of our favorites.

I was bitten without warning by a Malinoise, my neighbour's daughter had just released it from being stuck in her hot car after 5 hours (i guessed that she just remembered the dog) I met her, her mum and the dog at the foot of the staircase. On enquiring who's dog it was without warning it jumped up & bit my face - nice huh. Apparently her son (18) had got it because he was bored - WTF!!! By the time the police had tracked the dog and him down he had passed on the dog to someone else. People with no experience of that breed have no business owning one. I thank you for doing what was best, Peace ;-)

Forget the dogs, with the right owner, even the most aggressive and dangerous dogs can be the sweetest and cuddliest thing ever, so instead, just beware the owner. 70-90% of all cases, dogs only act the way they do because of their owner. That means the owner is to blame, so in the majority of cases, it's bad owners.

False. My friend had to kill his pit bull because it started mauling his wife. It was always loved and wasn't trained to be a guard dog. My neighbors had to move because their pit bull attacked my kids twice which I prevented and ended up mauling the special needs bus driver that picks up my wheelchair bound kid. That family was getting special socialize training for the dog and it wasn't trained to be a guard dog. Both cases the owners were the only owners and dogs weren't rescues.
Some dogs are easier to trigger than others. The why we might never know.
I had the same oh it's the owners mentality and defended pits until these incidents. Loved dogs out to do harm.

@@Syntax-Savvyhe said %70 to %90, so good job by proving him right by calling out the %10 to %30. Yes, some dogs are more agreesive due to breading, some owners may not mistreat them perse, but are seen as weak by the dog, so the dog thinks its the alpha, or the owner is nice to the dog but just doesn't train them right when they're young, making it harder to correct as an adult, and sometime dogs just snap but that tends to be older dogs.
That being said, it's still mostly due to owner being the type of person who shouldn't own a dog to begin with. Either mistreatment or not responsible enough.

It's none sense to assume kindness = letting a dog be in charge. That's a reach and pretty big assumption. My problem is people outside of the bad owners refuse to believe a dog has a personality and can just be fucking mean just cuz.

@@Syntax-Savvy The same can be said for all animals, not just dogs. But in many cases, those attacks are by puppy-mill dogs, or rescue dogs that were abused by prior owners. You don't hear of too many cases of dogs raised from puppies attacking a kind and loving owner. Not to say it NEVER happens, because animals can have mental issues too, but it's not common.

My dog is half black lab and half Presa Canario. Presa Canarios, also known as Canary Island Mastiffs, are aggressive guard dogs from the Canary Islands that can weigh up to 400 lbs at the heaviest. They are super muscular. When trained well, they can be great for families. They are particularly protective of children. Presas are responsible for some particularly gruesome dog attacks but in those rare instances, the dogs were found to be beaten, neglected, starved, and poorly socialized. They are banned from four countries. Another interesting fact is that Presas are very catlike in their movements and mannerisms. They are also very intelligent. So I have a sweet and ridiculously muscular couch potato with a vicious sounding bark. Despite his daunting appearance, he’s a very smart and caring dog who can be very gentle when he wants to be.

With certain dogs comes responsibility. And laws should be in place that if you own certain breeds you must register it and pay for your dog and owners to attend training lessons. Because many who own these breeds have no idea how to train their dog to obey commands, and also mussled and on a lease when outside the owners property.

    • @philcarr7015

The problem with that is that the people that have mean dogs have trained them to be mean. And, they aren't going to attend a class on how to make their dogs nice. They are most likely training the dogs to fight, the dogs get away from them and someone gets hurt, or killed. The dogs get out down, and get the rep. for being bad dogs when they're just doing what they've been trained to do.

I rescued a Belgian Malinois and she was the sweetest, most intelligent ,a loyal dog I ever owned. As for agility,, she could jump straight up in the air turning 180 degrees as she did so. She was primarily my dof as my wife never really warmed to her. So one day she happened to be sitting on the sofa next to my wife and she began to tease her. I warned her that it was not a smart thing to do, but my wife wanted to get her to play. Suddenly she jumped from a sitting position straight up, turned, and landed on my wife ready to play. We had a baby gate across one door in our hous to keep my wife's Jack Russell Terriers isolated from the resto of the house. My Malinois jumped it like it didn't even exist. Their agility makes them great police dogs, much better than their cousins the German Shepherd Dog which they look like.
By the way Malinois is pronounced Ma-lan-wah, and Laekenois is pronounced Lak-in-wah.

Bear (no pun intended) with me, I have a dog attack story. When I was ten, I was on a European Vacation with my mom. First full day there I was walking on a bench in Amsterdam when (this is relevant) the bench fell over, I did a triple somersault in mid-air, fell and broke my arm, ended up in a cast. Then in Paris, I sliced my toe open on a piece of glass, wading in the fountain in front of the Eiffell tower, amongst hundreds of people, and the glass finds ME! (I swear this is relevant, it shows how my luck was going!). A few countries later, in London walking in front of a "Wimpy Burger," my mom was walking about 10 ft in front of me, when I saw two dogs sitting by and on a planter. A German Shepard, and about six feet past him, some cute little doggo, like a terrier mix or something. Now, I loved dogs, grew up with them, and knew better then to approach a strange lone big dog. But I went up to pet the small dog, which he happily accepted, but suddenly I hear this loud "GRRROOWWWFFFF!!" and the German Shepard clamps onto my elbow (missed my cast by about two inches) for several seconds, then let go, he drew a lot of blood. The adult in my head (if you know, you know) went "Seriously?" and I called out "Mommmm?" in a "You're not going to believe this" tone. She came back, she started panicking (I was just bemused) and we got some paper towels around my elbow, and fortunately I'd gotten all my shots for the trip. Then the dogs' owners came out. Long story short (I know, too late!), the doctors weren't worried and after the hospital, over tea and biscuits (gotta love the British!) back at the owners, who'd come to the hospital with us, we were told by the owners that when they found the German Shepard, he had prong marks in his neck, from some horrible metal collar that had been used on him. They figured he had been trained to attack a padded arm on command, and my cast triggered that reflex. Either that or he was protecting his little doggo buddy. But here's the thing...I NEVER BLAMED THE DOG! I blamed the ptevious owners (not the nice couple having tea with us) for abusing the dog! And while for a while I was just a tad leery around German Shepards, I was never actually afraid of them, still thought they were stunning animals (still do), and just approached them with a bit more caution than other breeds.
My mom, however, was annoyed with the dog and said "Three inches higher and he would have broken his teeth!" Incorrect, I believe, I think the dog's teeth would have made powder out of the plaster. But I do remember chiding my mom for her comment.
Thanks for reading if you made it this far! Sorry. Got a bit of the Storyteller gene in me...😅

We have 2 American bullies. The ones shown and spoken of here are XLBullies. There are pockets (under 60 lbs) average (up to 90 lbs) and extra large. Ours are not muscle dense, do not have clipped ears (or tails), and they are beautiful snuggly pups without an ounce of aggression. They are gentle, cuddling, couch potatoes. If you were to break into my house, Bonnie and Clyde (my bullies) would bark but back away from you, scared. My Lab / Tick Hound Mix (Lucy) would bark and not back up, but she wouldn'tt bite either. It's the owners that are the problem. None of my dogs would attack. Maybe Lucy if you actually attacked one of us, but none of them would chase or attempt to attack because you knocked on the door. 🙄 It's so unfair that any breed of bull terrier is assumed danergous. The owners are the dangers ones. Abuse and raise any dog to be aggressive, and it will be so. We adopted an abused beagle. Diego seemed fine, until he felt threatened. He attacked our Labs (Bitz and Lucy) relentlessly. He was raised poorly, was not properly socialized, and learned aggressive behavior. We rehomed to a great couple that had no other pets. The moral of the story is what I stated before. ANY DOG raised badly can be aggressive. Even a breed considered great for kids like a beagle. Just sayin.

My grandmother on my dad's side had a rottweiler when I was just a little baby or toddler. ( I can't remember!) Anyways that dog, his name was Ralph, was just the sweetest dog ever!! He would eat dog food out of my hands, and when my daddy would come tackle and tickle me he would come running up to us and start barking at him!! (probably saying don't you hurt my grand human!!) He loved chasing balls, playing tug of war with his dog toys, and he would make us fetch his dog toys in my grandmother's backyard pool when we were swimming! Also when I was older in my adult years my grandmother had a German Shepard/Belgian Malinois and that dog was also the sweetest dog ever! His name was Kelly he did about the same things as Ralph did expect for eating food out of of my hands!! Both of the dogs even liked chasing a laser like cats do!! Both of her dogs when they were alive would not have hurt a single hair on your head! They were our babies!!

Sara our Dobie was the smartest dog I have ever seen. She was an attack trained guard dog, but she was also a complete goofball at times... just don't try to break in... She saved my dad's live when a KeroSun heater malfunctioned and started spewing smoke into my dad's bedroom. Sara wouldn't leave him alone until he woke up. She even drove her front feet into his ribs to get him up. The doctor that treated his smoke inhalation said if it wasn't for her, he would have died. KeroSun got sued (and lost), and Sara got lots of pets and treats.

The Heeler is known as The Blue Heeler, not Hall Heeler. Hall Heeler is the ancestor of the Blue and Red Heeler. Blue and Red, as thats the 2 colours they come in.
They are great with kids, a great family dog, and naturally very playful and not aggressive, they should not even be on this list.
Like most dogs they copy the temperament of its owner, they receive/d, a bad rap because they are part dingo, but it couldn't be further from the truth.

I've owned a Doberman, Belgian Malinois, and currently an American Bulldog all of which were rescues. All three breeds were highly intelligent in different ways. The Malinois and bulldog both watch TV and know what they are looking at. I know this because the Bulldog say a white porcelain cat on Antiques roadshow and immediately ran to the TV barking. He also recognized horses and cows leading me to believe he must have spent some time on ranches before he became a stray and was rescued. He love Christmas lights, and especially the projected images which he is able to trace down to the projector sniffing it and then losing interest, subsequently looking for the next light show.
I write about some of the dogs I have owned, but all dogs are highly intelligent, if their owners are intelligent enough to pay attention to the way they behave.

I used to show Kangals, I have owned a Tibetan Mastiff, & currently I have a Caucasian Shepherd. If I were a burglar I'd fear the Caucasian just abover the Kangal, then the TM. But in this great video, it's totally correct that it's the owners who make the dogs temperament. Just like a child, if treated badly, left chained up, or abused, there's a very real chance that the dog will be extremely dangerous. So why the CS over the Kangal? Because Kangals will assess the situation first & only then will they attack. The Caucasian doesn't, it just reacts immediately, pure tunnel vision. But as a responsible owner of dogs, I make sure that I socialise these dogs outside of a busy retail park for example. And I do this for at least 1 1/2 years. By doing this the dog will be entirely used to people, cars & other dogs. And you then have a relaxed, happy dog. My friend has 3 cats who she feeds outside. My CS lies next to them & lets them walk on his back. He'll even wash the cats as they roll around playing. BUT...be very aware that any dog can turn if provoked. And with these breeds that could be very very bad. I would not recommend any of these if you have children or if you are newish to dog ownership. BTW, the Kangal has the strongest bite force at around 765 PSI, the CS has 675 PSI & the TM is around 600 PSI. But all lovely dogs if proper care is given from a puppy.

The thing about Heelers is, they will not be happy in inclosed areas like apartments, and they are extremely protective to the point that YOU don't own a Heeler, they own you, and will defend to their last drop of blood and air in their lungs what they own..
I've had three in my 58 years on this planet, and I never had to worry about my children being home alone while that faithful ole heeler was in the yard, because one thing a heeler will defend quickly are kids, and a female Heeler, is 1,000 time more protective and fearless..
Now on the opposite side of the coin,
If loyalty, smothering love, and great feet warmers, is your thing, I highly recommend this breed

Our Doberman was responsible for one of those attacks , a plain-clothes police officer came to our house looking for my dad while us 6 kids were home alone and he got loud with us and our dog "Missy" the Doberman , Shaggy a mut I used for hunting bust through a locked screen door knocking the cop down 6 brick steps a cement landing and down 5 more cement steps trapping him at the bottom between a gate we had two latches on because the dogs knew how to open the gate when it only had one latch . After a bunch of screaming by the cop he managed to open the gate and with both dogs on him he crawled under his unmarked car with both dogs still on him trying to drag him back into the open , our neighbor broke a shovel over Missy's back , I told shaggy to go home and she stopped immediately and went back in the yard Missy had other plans and stayed on the cop shredding him while he tried to pull his pistol , I took an empty trashcan and covered Missy with it ending the attack , the county tried to have Missy put down and after going to court she was acquitted because according to the outcome , the dogs were only trying to protect us kids , I think that cop learned his lesson that day that a beware of dog sign means just that and not get loud with kids . Both dogs were sweethearts and lived long lives dying of natural causes . Shaggy was the smartest and best dog we have ever had knowing a click language as well as hand signals I used for hunting . I had never seen a grown man cry like that cop did that day 😂 ( writing this brought a tear to my eye missing my dog )

@@93ImagineBreakerWell no dog was ever used as a literal nanny. They were known to be good for families with young children due to their gentle temperment and protective nature. As for how they got turned into fighting dogs, that's because of horrible human beings plain and simple. I'm not saying that other breeds don't have this problem. Growing up, we were warned about Rotweilers or Dobermans. I then worked at a vets office after high school where there were all three of these breeds and more and they were all the sweetest dogs. When our pit bull was in a foster home (before we adopted him) with puppies and would regularly go up to their pen and lick their heads as they slept. A dog breed becomes "bad" because of people turning them that way or the public's misconceptions about them.

I'm from the uk and the XL bullie is now being banned 😢 I've met loads of them and they've all been so friendly so far. I've 8 dogs, 5 chihuahuas, staffi x german shep, belgian malinois who's protection trained and a rottie pup who's 6 months old now. Most came to me as adult and with issues and I've self adopted them. The pup is being trained and socialised with the help of the community as we meet up for walks and play sessions. I just wish people would train and socialise their dogs. Oy tike my dogs would harm someone is of they attacked me and then good, they're doing their job.
