This was awesome! Brought back so many memories of growing up in San Diego and going to the Del Mar Fair at least twice every summer...thanks making the trip down south! 👻💙
Crazy how therapeutic these videos are, reminding of vivd childhood memories to much easier times w/ no worries. What a fortunate blessing it was to grow up in that era.
Wow this is great I've still got my Sony Walkman in mint condition with it's original battery can't believe It's how many years ago it's been since my mom brought it for me great video Kurt 👍
That was honestly the BEST display I've seen at the Del Mar Fair!....Usually its the same thing every year just a different theme.....This time looks like they got people to create and display Major Nostalgia !!!.....Holt Crap I had a lot of this items too!....
I can't believe I'm the age when things like a Discman and a first generation iPod are museum pieces displayed behind Plexiglass. The TVs in the "living rooms" with the retro rugs bring back memories of lazy days watching TV back in the '80s.
OMG AWESOME!!! Wish I would of known about this, we live in L.A., would of headed down to SD. Love all your videos and they bring back memories, but this is EPIC!!!!!
We had that Sharp DC-7 stereo with the retracting record player! It ended up being nicknamed 'R2D2' in our family on account of its looks and the cool little robot clicks and whirs it made when retracting/extending the record player. Looks like they had a lot of pretty cool displays in the show! Thanks for sharing it with us.
As a 2000s person, I have always had an interest in previous eras. My favorite parts of the video are the vintage toys ESPECIALLY the California Raisins [I LOVE CLAYMATION], the Malt Shop, the DeLorean [my mom was super excited to see it!], and the vintage Jack In The Box drive thru clown head. I've had an interest in Jack In The Box history for a while now, and I actually think the chain was the best in the 60s and 70s from the pictures and commercials I've seen and the things I've heard. Fun Fact, Paul Winchell, best known as the original voice of Tigger from Winnie The Pooh, did the voices of Jack and other characters in 1970s animated Jack In The Box commercials. Only three [Baseball, In The Park, Jack In The Box Animated Commercial 1970s] and three comics [How A House Makes Noise, Where Oil Comes From, How Pain Helps Us] are on RUclips, but I HIGHLY recommend checking them out. There's something neat about the trippy 1970s animation, and Onion Ring Thing sounds EXACTLY like Tigger. Too bad Jack In The Box won't acknowledge they exist, though.
I''ll do my Larry King impression with a stream of conscious '80's list: Knox Gelatin, Jolt Cola, TI 994a personal computers, high top Leather Converse All-Stars with braided laces.
This kinda reminds me of Frank n Sons in City of Industry. Im sure you have been there before… but for any chance you havent, I suggest you do a video on that!
Very cool! But only one issue. I'm a toy collector and they have 2023 hot wheels and 2024 TMNT figures in the toys from the 90's. They could have done better on that. Old TMNT is so much better. Somebody got lazy lol. Thank you for showing us this
That was much better than I expected, thanks for the video 👍

This looks like fun!!! 80s 4 life!!!

Lots of great memories there. Thanks for sharing...
So many great memories from the "Del Mar" fair...
Hahaha…I continue to call it the Del Mar Fair, too! Native San Diegans where you at?😊
@@rsanque Native SD, too. Grew up in the East County, now in CO. You?
My cousin took me there the night of the huge gang riot in ’95; just ’member a mile-long line of red/blue lights when leaving, insane.
Del Mar fair for sure 🎉
@@rsanque Del Mar fair for sure 🎉
Oh wow! This one is a childhood treasure. Who ever thought of this idea deserves an applause.

Another great trip down memory lane, Hello from Melbourne ❤
What an awesome retro museum. I had so much Gecko gear as a kid lol
My favorite was the teens bedroom.
We had that Sharp DC-7 stereo with the retracting record player! It ended up being nicknamed 'R2D2' in our family on account of its looks and the cool little robot clicks and whirs it made when retracting/extending the record player.

Hi from San Diego Del Mar and 💖💖⭐️
Thanks Kurt for showing us around L.A I’m from Australia so this is a part of the world I’ve only seen in movies
Haven't seen the Gecko brand since I was a kid in the 90s. If it wasn't for this video I would have forgot it ever even existed. Thanks!

Pretty cool!
Dude, you had a Snow Walker? Nice!
I used to have that doctor's play set at 5:15; the stethoscope kind of worked!

I will be out this week at Del Mar! 😊

No BMX bikes? Man Hutch, Redline, GT, CW, Elf, JMC, Patterson, Profile, Diamondback, etc....were our life as kids.
You forgot SE, Mongoose and Kuwahara lol! I ride a Redline, Big Ripper and PK Ripper now at 53 🍻
3:12 had me wanting to know the story about how that happened!
I remember using the 76 antenna ball for a wiffle ball. Lol.
