Installing an aftermarket cabin air filter in a Hummer H3

- There is no stock cabin air filter on the Hummer H3. However, if you remove the stock plastic "funnel", the remaining metal protrusion is identical to that of the 2004-2012 GMC Canyon and Chevy Colorado. This means that the adaptor that I designed for my Canyon can be installed on the H3 as well!

I did this successfully to my Hummer H3 thanks to you and you're product! works great! Thankyou!
Hi, how did you end up installing the filter? Did you need to remove the side fender in order to take out the stock cabin air filter intake?
@@Mike-te5jm yes, you only have to do it one time. When changing the filter in the future you will remove the cowl cover below the windshield. Taking the fender off is not that hard, a few bolts and the fender liner and antenna.
@@IMFMOTORPOOL Thanks for the reply, I’m not to handy when it comes to cars so I’m still figuring this out. Did you have to remove the entire front wheel fender to take off the smaller fender with the antenna? I’m trying to figure out how many parts need to come off to successfully remove the smaller fender that’s shown in the video.
Dude amazing buying this now
Hahaha.. all that trouble.. that’s why he shows on scrap car 😆
Hello, have you considered making a filter adapter that fits behind the blower motor on the hummer h3?
No. There are flaps to route air different for recirculate, floor/defrost, etc that make adding things inside the ducts less feasible. If you find a way though and make a video I'd be happy to link to it!
good job
Hi, is it absolutely necessary to remove the entire windshield wiper assembly? Or can you just pop off the left side of the trim and try it like that.
The metal above the intake is welded in place and cannot be removed, so the only option is to slide the old plastic towards the driver's side and then out via the wider hole above the wiper assembly. Total PITA but the only solution I saw. If you find a better way feel free to report back!
Thanks for that info, do you think it’s possible to remove the old intake by just removing the trim and the wiper assembly. I am clueless as to how the side panel detaches, so I’m hopeful that I can remove the old intake by only using the wiper assembly access point.
@@Mike-te5jm I tugged and pulled and tried for probably 15 minutes before deciding I needed a way to force it out. You might be able to use a ratchet strap or something to try forcefully pulling? But it's not too difficult to remove the fender, no more than a dozen bolts, many of which are easily accessible with just the hood up or the passenger door open
Will this also work for h2?
I'm not sure. Googling shows that SOME h2s had a factory cabin air filter and some didn't. Did you check if yours does? If it doesn't you could look in the same spot as I showed in the video, if you have an intake that has the same shape, then I think it's likely this will fit.
That filter Isn’t worth all the trouble period, what's the worse thing that could happen?
Sounds like you work for GM 😂 Worst case is getting debris in your eyes while you're driving. More likely case is hearing the chatter of leaves and crap getting stuck in your fan
@adamdport
No I don't work for GM, but I've driven GM vehicles for many years along with other brands also, never once have I gotten an eyeball full of DEBRIS in none of my vehicles. And I imagine only a small percentage of drivers ever heard of a cabin filter let alone changed one... btw why make something so simple so difficult to get to?
