Agreed. Especially that particular area of the shoulder. I had a muscle in that exact area that was "touchy" for like 8+ yrs. 99% of the time it was fine, but every once in a blue moon I'd extend my arm in just the right angle and that sucker would flair up like I'd just stabbed it with a hot poker and then I'd not be able to lift my arm for like 12-36 hrs. Turned out the main thing I was doing to aggravate it was some behind-the-back arm "stretches" that were causing a repetitive stress injury to the sheath of that muscle. I was actually doing more of those stretches over the years, because I thought it'd "help" the problem, but really it was making it worse. Once I gave up on that and followed a rest & non-repetitive regimen, it cleared up in a few months.

It’s possible to be anterior inferior labrum tear since that is the weakest direction for the shoulder. But you don’t get shoulder pain from the injury a year prior that was basically a lateral extension when there is an anterior labrum tear.

Good analysis doctor, however, you left out the force that caused the injury. If you look, Curry's should joint is being asked to stop the upward movement, not of just the ball, but the full weight + mass momentum of the player's motion which would estimate to calculate is a few thousand pounds in the physics of the situation. Curry could never lift that much weight in the gym, yet he is, in a reverse manner attempting to stop and thousand force with his lone arm, and the joint could not sustain that much physical power. I don't think Curry lifts weight for strength, so no way the associated muscles and ligaments survive trying to reverse lift that much force.
As we see now, it is an unusual situation, one would think happens every day, but with bigger, more weight-trained bodies. An extended examination of Curry's shoulder should take place. My understanding is that he is taking an MRI to diagnose the problem, they should also check his blood and nutrients, he may be deficient in that area. Good video. I was interested in Curry's condition. I could not have found a better analysis. Thank you.

Mine hurts me every day and reaching up at that angle is something I can't do without days of extra pain that can go on for weeks if not longer. Last year around September I dislocated my shoulder with the same exact play. I came as help defense and extended my right arm to swipe down at the ball as the offense player went up with 2 hands for a layup. My downward force with the upward force. Caused my shoulder to dislocate. It didn’t help that my arm was OVER extended to get at the ball. I immediately heard a snap crackle pop and I immediately knew it was dislocated. I went to the ER, waited 2-3 hours before it was popped back in. It was so severely dislocated that they had to put me to sleep for about 10 mins for them to place it back. Sleeping for a month was extremely difficult.

He is now much stronger than few years ago, so he was confident he could stop the attack and smash the ball off. Unfortunately the other guy was jumping up with momentum of the whole body, and that was too much for Steph's shoulder.

Hey doc, I think the previous injury happens before the bump... at 2:13.5 of this video, at the baseline, the players arms tangle right as they start moving. That's where Steph has his left arm out and in the same motion as tonight. It's quick and jerky, but the same motion. Steph doesn't realize his arm hurts until a few seconds later.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was related to more time with weight lifting in the gym over the past couple years

Hey Brian, do you think you could do an analysis on the injury that Zach Whitecloud suffered a few nights ago in the Golden Knights vs Bruins game?

Hes probably got a bad shoulder... Like the doc said, it didnt pop out so its probably just been streetched out beforr and not as strong as it could be. A lot of basketball players have bad shoulders.

When he grabbed his shoulder and ran off to the sideline bent over not moving his arm it reminded me of Kevin Love. Soon as I saw it I was like "oh 💩" . Not a warriors fan but I love 🏀 & great talent. Sucks

The problem is even if he recovers, he won’t be able to work out properly due to having a bad shoulder subsequently!! Hence, his body will have a step back a bit. Steph needs every maximized strength of his mechanic muscles and body to compete in NBA where most of players are bigger and stronger than him.
