Important side note, for a lot of ur theories u wont even find out for MANY years if they’re true or not UNLESS u read the novel series. This is because the entire show so far (which is 2 seasons) is only caught up to the very beginning of the 2nd book.. and there’s 8 books. And many of the theories and questions u have relating to the bigger plot don’t get answered until much later in the books so the anime/donghua has a LOT to catch up to for that and it’d take many years. So idk I’d encourage u to read the books. They’re rlly interesting anyways and a roller coaster of emotions, it’s not just gay lovey-dovey drama lol. There’s a LOT of dark moments and things that make u think or question ur values/morals. There’s also cool mysteries always going on. I’m saying this as someone who’s not even a reader and doesn’t even like books yet that novel series had me ADDICTED. The 8 books wasn’t enough for me lmao. It’s just a tip for u tho, obviously u don’t have to read the books if u don’t want to🙏
I definitely agree even as a massive tgcf fan I found a lot of the exposition of season 1 really boring. I remember the first time I watched it I just had it on in the background because I wasn’t that interested but towards the end of season 1 and start of season 2 I started to get rlly hooked, that’s when I was like “hold onnn”😭 ofc ur experience might be different, u might find season 2 just as boring if not more but I will say this, it’s a lot less exposition, especially the beginning, it starts off rlly strong with actual questions and mystery and Xie Lian and Hua Chengs dynamic improves and gets cuter and more serious and there’s more drama all around and even H0RNIER SCENES. It’s just rlly good imo. One thing I’ll say is the English dub script for season 2 was actually written by Hua Cheng’s voice actor and he managed to make it a LOT gayer, he made it WAY more flirty and if u cover ur eyes in some scenes you’d think it’s 🌽 from what ur hearing LOL. He was slick with it and managed to get a lot of things past Chinese censorship, like a loophole. He’s also a lot sassier and flirtier than the Chinese VA for Hua Cheng so that’s just something to consider IF u wanna watch it in English dub for season 2. It’s less censored than the original sub.

Can’t wait for ur season 2 reaction! Imo it’s MILES better than season 1, that might just be cause idc for the Banyue arc or the Mount Yujun/Ghost Bride arc tho😂
