I live just outside Chattanooga, TN. We have to prettiest waterways and mountains! I love your channel! FYI those diesel heaters get really clogged up with soot and need to be cleaned out a couple times a year. I hope you are warmed up. It’s in the high 50s here after being in the teens last week. I’m a widow living in a fifth wheel. It was COLD and my heater quit. Thank goodness for electricity when you need it. Thank you for everything you do. That photography and drone footage is amazing!!! I love it!
A pet door in the bottom of your door might be a good idea. Animals catch on quickly. You do great work with the drone! Fun watching you problem solve. 🤔Thanks for a very interesting video.
Diesel fuel will gel when it gets cold and clog everything up if there isn't anti gel mixed in. They add anti gel to the fuel at service stations, but sometimes it isn't enough. You can get anti gel at truck stops, cheaper at Wal Mart. Diesel in cars and trucks that isn't burned returns back into the fuel tank warmed. With your tank that isn't happening. That all in one unit is going to help, it being inside where it is warmer.
@@ATAP...AnotherTime Sounds like youre on the right track for the diesel heater. Very possible your fuel gelled, Walmart stocks Diesel 911 Fuel Additive. It will ungell diesel fuel. I usually use Hotshot Diesel additive in my truck, can't see why you couldn't use that either. I'm wondering if you can put a small petcock in the bottom of your fuel tank to separate off water from the fuel, since its denser than diesel? Or, maybe run it through some sort of separator first?
White smoke coming from a small diesel heater usually indicates that the heater is burning too much fuel, often due to a faulty fuel injection system, a problem with the air-fuel mixture, or a coolant leak, which is causing unburned fuel to be expelled as white smoke during combustion; while a small amount of white smoke during startup is normal, persistent white smoke requires further inspection and potential servicing.
Nice video Martin...Glad to hear you've sorted your heating situation without much issue...Ever want to "mess with" a beavers behavior and laugh...get a recording of running water and play it through a "bluetooth" speaker near their den up on the shore. Make sure to put the speaker in a box, because they will pile a "shit ton" of mud and sticks on the box trying to make the "running water" sound go away...LMAO...Love these critters...Great all around animals from resources of fur and food, to behavioral entertainment...Thanks for the drone guidance...I would like to have one someday to use as you have suggested but that means getting a phone, which I don't want...LOL...but all my VA medical, banking and related now seems to be demanding these stupid things...LOL...Looking forward to the next video as always...!!!
I would steer clear of the phone as long as you can. My friend... I could watch the beaver play around here all day. Strong smart animals. I've seen videos where the wildlife services are using. Speakers like that, it's so funny. Thanks for watching the video and posting a comment. I appreciate it.
River aint kiddin about getting that drone. My son won a buddy heater at a drawing and he gave it away.Thank you for teaching me more about the diesel heater. one Those blue yoga matts under you will make your bed MUCH warmer. Its how I cold camp and I couldnt do it without it. Plus I can just use a blanket instead of locked into a sleeping bag,
At least he's not licking you... That's almost worse than barking. Lol 😆 🤣 😂 🐕. The water is a very cool shade right now. So clear, just beautiful. I'm loving at the last few days.
Drone takes great pictures! I have had a few budget drones but just got the Dji Neo. It’s pretty awesome! It can be a selfie drone or vlogging? But can fly with a regular remote, phone or fpv goggles. Some drones you can switch up the stick operations. Stay warm man!
Good morning Martin. I always put a little isopropanol in my diesel fuel when it was going to get really cold. it also dries water in the fuel. Good you got a second heater for backup. Stay warm and enjoy the day.
Diesel can get finicky in cold weather, but normally, it's ok at those temps. Who knows? Things wear out or just break. Nice footage with your new drone. Thanks for all your videos.
Second viewing. I'm still laughing. My dog died in May, 2024. Temperature like Tennessee, Alabama, where I am. 5 days running a heater , one room. Noon before turning on water again. RIVER , and the Drone has made all that muck float away. Thanks for your life, yall make mine better.
I really appreciate your kind words. Thank you so much. The water here is so beautiful this time of year. I. 'm glad you're watching us and joining along for the trip. Thank you.
That sucks. It was 20 here in colorado today at 8,000 ft. I bet it will be 10 below zero tonight. On the bright side the shortest day is in about 10 days and then Spring is on the way!
If you don't already know this, I want to share a tid-bit of information with you. Diesel will gel up and cause issues with your fuel lines, etc. at around 5-10 degrees Fahrenheit. Even with higher temps with poor quality diesel. Keep on keepin' on. Love your videos.
Amazon sells water separator funnels. Even though winters have been mild, may need to get some diesel anti-freeze/treatment as diesel 'gels' in colder temps. Best of luck!!!!!
@@ATAP...AnotherTime Although I have no personal knowledge regarding diesel treatments, I do know that in anything automotive, quality can range from a premium product to rebranded 'snake-oil'. I would seek out a NAPA AutoParts store as their employees generally know their stuff and ask for a recommendation.
Research anti gel. Truck drivers use it every winter. Old timers used to mix transmission fluid in with the diesel to help it not freeze. At least that's what an old guy told me when I used to drive trucks.
@ATAP...AnotherTime We had to add diesel fuel anti gel additive when i drove a semi truck. I'm guessing you could add it for a heater? Not sure though. Since its diesel fuel you might be able to warm up your heater lines with a hand torch, just try not and melt the lines if they're plastic or rubber lines.
Martian , I've never commented before, watch, Binge watch, mist watch 2/ 3 times , This is the funniest of all episodes and Series. O always need a good , gut laugh. I think I will watch again!@😅
Pretty much. It sounds like I need to take that thing apart and clean a lot of it... You guys are awesome for pointing out stuff. That needs to be looked at very kind of you. Thank you..
Fuel filters are cheap! I'd keep a handful around just in case. Automotive diesel engines have a special filter that catches the water, maybe the heaters have something similar.
Yeah, like a water separator I have one in my sailboat. I was thinking about something like that. I appreciate you pointing that out Les, your awesome.
I think river would fly that drone directly into the water... 😆 🤣 😂. I think you're talking about a drone license, but i'm not sure. I. Should have mentioned it. I always get the ones that are too light and have height limitations. So I don't have to get any license. However, I've never really looked into that my friend. I might do that one afternoon. Always good to hear from you bud.
I've had several diesel theaters over the years. It's not normal for it to smoke... Like the guy said above if the fuel station hasn't added anti gelling stuff that may be part of your problem otherwise the screen inside the glow plug needs to be changed out occasionally. They are very inexpensive to buy and it's not a hard fix. As for the Buddy heater if you're getting headaches that's definitely not a good sign probably carbon monoxide poisoning... Do you have a carbon monoxide detector in your boat? I have to ventilate the room well with open windows and fan when I am using the My Buddy heater short-term. Take care and the best of luck to you. Perhaps you should consider covering that diesel heater outside so water can't can't get to it, I don't think they're made to be outside in rain or snow, and it would keep water out of your system if you have any minor leakage.take good care
Very kind of you to get me all that information I agree with you. I think it's just Freezing the diesel when it gets really cold. I bought that diesel during the summer. I do have a little storage case. Built around it and when I showed it to you? I just had it opened for the video. I'm gonna check on how to clean everything out and hit that thing with a good winter cleaning. I really appreciate all the help, but thank you
