This guy is not only a fucking incredible drummer, but a great athlete imo, great leg/calf strength and body control, he stays in shape and trains every limb, he pushes himself to extreme limits like a professional athlete does, he also constantly practices rudiments, one of the best ever!
All Thomas Lang videos come with a complimentary roller coaster of inspiration followed by "HOWWWWW, WHYYYYYYY..." discouragement. I experience this daily.
Nick Newton Just practice, learn about Moeller tech. Experiment, you can do it. He commits time, works out on body, has passion. A slow drummer could get to half speed and be happy. Isolate left foot using doubles in groups of 3. You'll soon developed extra room for foot pedals, etc. Lotta time maybe...yeah! I'm sure, lots of time.
I've worked it out. Thomas' pedals are actually scared of his feet, and THAT is why they appear to do doubles without him actually stomping them. What we perceive as awesome blast beats are actually the rhythmic manifestation of instrumental PTSD. It all makes sense now!
I love thomas, he shows you everything...everyway to succeed. Not once does he ever say it's easy but implys it takes time and practice BUT at the end of that time(maybe 20 years haha)you will be able to do it just like him 😊👍👏❤🔥 there is no easy way to be awesome, it takes time and dedication whether to be an awesome drummer, spouse, skateboarder, the lesson is the same 😊
almost TOO accurate: imagine TL... if he added WILD PASSION and was part OUT-of-CONTROL! (I like my music WILD... NOT too neat. ROCK Music is meant to be wild.)
This video alone its enough to learn how to be a good drummer. Best teacher in the new era of rock drumming, Thomas Lang is the jedi trainner to end it all.
This kind of stuff isn't just learned after a few lessons or in a camp. Thomas obviously spent many hours as a youth perfecting these techniques. Playing clean doubles with your feet isn't nearly as easy as playing them with your hands.
Enormous natural ability meets insane work ethic. Luv the way that he's just matter- of- factly chatting to the camera AS he's doing things on the drums that only a few people on earth can do !! Just sick......lol
Here's a different way of looking at it, Ringo Star and Charlie Watts couldn't play any of this stuff yet their two of the wealthiest drummers in the world. Thomas Lang is a drumming machine, he's a great drummer and a terrific showman it must take such a dedication to practice the way he does and make drumming a huge part of his life, his whole life really.
you're a great teacher man, thanks for this. so helpful. I've been a single pedal player for years, but am inspired to work towards playing with a double. cheers.
I got bored with double bass for a while. Checkout Bleed by Meshuggah. It's not my kinda music exactly but the double footwork in that is so intense it has reset my perceptions of where I was. Now I'm trying to learn hertas with my feet instead of the old helicopter beat I grew up with.
Thomas, Next time you're in Germany, see if you can demo a Drum-Tec Pro Custom kit with a Roland TD-50 module for us. Thanks for all your inspirational techniques.
What do you expect from somone who can play ''Stick control'' with his hands and feet and both mixed ,I bet there's no single combination this guy didn't play!
It's about time, and especially patience, when you acquire certain level you don't want to waste it on something new or harder, you have what you need to play what you want and that's it, to continue, to keep on will make you a PRO. I think.
3:08...Who's doing this exercise for very long periods of time at the camp? 15 minutes???? Is he for real? Is there another species of drumming robots out there that I don't know about?
Wooooooooow, I didn't know you made tutorials! Loool you are so funny, just speaking and making this crasy stuff at the same time! Thanks for this exercice, lot of work here! xD
what is the name of the "old" electronic bass drums thomas used tu play that are the pedal beater inverted pointing tu the floor? which brand, model? thanks
After watching this I have come to the realization that I have extremely under developed feet. But Ill try not to let it get me down, ill just keep working on it. Subdivisions with single stroke rolls most important for me to practice anyway. But these double strokes are off the hook. Just wish I had more time sometimes to work on these things
Can anyone please tell me what sounds in the td-50 module he's using? Is that any of the preset kits? I'd like to have mine sounding like this, especially the kick and snare, thanks!
Ok wow.... um.... i can dubble with my right foot but left foot... ya ok.... ill get right on that one. He made that look way too easy.... looks like i need some practice on my kick peddles. Just when i think im getting good at my dubble peddles i see this and feel like a beginner again hahaha. Guess i need to start mixing up my techniques.
OF COURSE!!!! Triple time... No problem. Let me set my metronome to 20bpm
Nathan Redmon ROFL, Me too.
hahahaahhahahahahahahahaah
"Your left foot need more training than your right foot"......... yeahhh...yeahhh...yeahhh....hahaha
my legs tightened up just watching him play it..
Hahahahahahahahahshahahahahahaha xD
The more I see what Thomas is capable of the more I love the guitar.
😅 Had me on a “limb” till the end.
".. 200 or more, whatever you feel comfortable with, you know" (as if he's talking about choosing a new color for your room)
Right! Hahaha
But don't forget to triple time that 200
I'm gonna drop one of those zeros if it's alright with everyone.
:) hehe
“Then of course in triple time.”
Oh yes... yes of course.
Hahaha this was my exact reaction
:)
This is the terminator of the drum set he is a cybernetic organism living tissue over steel
This guy is not only a fucking incredible drummer, but a great athlete imo, great leg/calf strength and body control, he stays in shape and trains every limb, he pushes himself to extreme limits like a professional athlete does, he also constantly practices rudiments, one of the best ever!
Watching Thomas Lang’s master class of drumming videos has seriously motivated me to.. sell my drum set. Guitar here I come
All Thomas Lang videos come with a complimentary roller coaster of inspiration followed by "HOWWWWW, WHYYYYYYY..." discouragement. I experience this daily.
"and then of course in triple times" that's when I quit drums
oh boy
He says it like its going to something super simple...
I was about to comment the same thing. Lol
He has no limitations. He can play whatever he likes with any limb at any speed. Maximum independence. He is really in a league of its own.
I feel Marco Minnemann can go beyond, but I like this guy.
How to be Thomas Lang.... Step 1: You won't
Nick Newton 😂😂😂😂
Lol he's too far ahead.
I've worked it out. Thomas' pedals are actually scared of his feet, and THAT is why they appear to do doubles without him actually stomping them. What we perceive as awesome blast beats are actually the rhythmic manifestation of instrumental PTSD.
It all makes sense now!
mr thomas you are are extraordinary player .looking at what you are doing make me want to put my drum kit on e-bay
I love thomas, he shows you everything...everyway to succeed. Not once does he ever say it's easy but implys it takes time and practice BUT at the end of that time(maybe 20 years haha)you will be able to do it just like him 😊👍👏❤🔥 there is no easy way to be awesome, it takes time and dedication whether to be an awesome drummer, spouse, skateboarder, the lesson is the same 😊
All I can say is "WOW!" This guy has raised the bar!! Thomas, you are AMAZING!!!
I came here to improve my drumming but I ended up just quitting.
I'll NEVER quit!! Just because someone else is really good, doesn't mean that I can't be with lots of practice!! That's how ANY musician gets better!
Speechless..... Most accurate drummer in the world
almost TOO accurate:
imagine TL... if he added WILD PASSION and was part OUT-of-CONTROL!
(I like my music WILD... NOT too neat. ROCK Music is meant to be wild.)
he makes it look so effortless.....
he's a really great teacher, doesnt spend too long explain just keeps it all down to the point and simple
hahahaha I love Toms lessons they're impossible.
Yesterday i‘ve ordered a Roland V- Drum, just saw this kind of exercise video and decided to send it back upon arrival. Thomas oh my godness...
my friend tried this yesterday and died later that night...
Haha!! eh... I’m sorry for your loss!😢
Hahahahahahahahahahahaha
😂
😂😂😂 👍👍👍
Thank you fellow drummer commentators, I haven’t laughed this hard in a long time!!!
don't give up u tubers! that's why people post these cool drum pics to share, and help the drumming community.
This video alone its enough to learn how to be a good drummer.
Best teacher in the new era of rock drumming, Thomas Lang is the jedi trainner to end it all.
+Jesus Contreras THAT IS ABSOLUTELY RIGHT HIM AND VIRGIL DONATI
Fuuuuuuck. Some rise of the machines shit here, no way he's a carbon life form!
This kind of stuff isn't just learned after a few lessons or in a camp. Thomas obviously spent many hours as a youth perfecting these techniques. Playing clean doubles with your feet isn't nearly as easy as playing them with your hands.
Thomas is just waaaaaayyyyy beyond "conventional" drumming... Awesome guy, I admire him and I really enjoy his drumming! Respect!
Enormous natural ability meets insane work ethic. Luv the way that he's just matter- of- factly chatting to the camera AS he's doing things on the drums that only a few people on earth can do !! Just sick......lol
Ok. I'll try.
But I gotta' admit, at my current level of double bass ability, this video had me laughing hysterically. He's freakishly good.
Where are you now?
Im starting on it just today
Everything he does is effortless.
Keep coming back to this one. It's a great workout and really helps with articulation on the feet. Thank you so much for the upload!
Jesus, man. He makes it look so easy! I got loads o' love for tha Lang.
The best drummer..I really like to have classes with him...
Great Great Great. Thanks Mr Lang. You always bring it. Love it. Thank you
you're a great teacher man, thanks for this. so helpful. I've been a single pedal player for years, but am inspired to work towards playing with a double. cheers.
Thank you for the great exercise Thomas Lang
Damn you Mr. Lang... you make this hard shit look way too easy...
In other words awesome job :)
just started trying to learn heel-toe, this is exactly what i need to coordinate my leg muscles
Thanks for the lesson. Good stuff.
Not even human. 👏. Unbelievable
Wonderful tutorial and teacher! Thanks for creating and posting.
This is excellent. After a while singles are not enough on double bass. You need to explore more. Thanks Thomas!!
Tom, you are truly a master craftsman!
Thomas and Donati... both untouchable.
Best teacher on the planet
well. that guy seems to have practiced............alot
You are a fucking legend Thomas! Great advice from one of the worlds leading drummers! MUCH APPRECIATED mr Lang! Thank you.
I love how he can play doubles faster then most can play singles xD
What do you expect from somone who can play ''Stick control'' with his hands and feet and both mixed ,I bet there's no single combination this guy didn't play!
doubles are actually easier to play faster than singles
josshlegg
Not when you actually play the strokes separately, as in you don't bounce the stick to get the second stroke
what a drummer! I want to cry!
I definitely need to clean up my feet. Cool one,Thomas. Danke schon!
After watching the vid with him and Tony royster I was speechless....
wat vids that??
@@philpants44 i just saw that video, and the two TOGETHER was some futuristic mania! It's just the two together: TL and TRjr.
Dont quit! Be inspired by this!!
Mr Lang , may I sample some double kick patterns for my solos? I will refer to your name. Thank you.
I can do it. Hold my beer.
I love it when he says "... and then OF COURSE in triple time" BOOM! jajaja Amazing!
wow... awesome lesson
yeah lemme just do this real quick. I can't even do that evenly with my hands; it goes against everything my body wants to do
It's about time, and especially patience, when you acquire certain level you don't want to waste it on something new or harder, you have what you need to play what you want and that's it, to continue, to keep on will make you a PRO. I think.
He makes it look like it's no big deal. Like it's so fucking easy. That shit takes A LOT of practice to get even remotely as smooth as he does it.
I train my left foot whenever I'm driving in my car. It's a perfect opportunity to get some practice in.
this is awesome stuff.
Not quite my tempo.
Now that I’ve mastered this, where do I go from here
Awesome Ty Thomas Lang
Thank you!! Great lesson!
wow nice work... simple to understand bro I like it
.. 😄
Thank you master Lang
3:08...Who's doing this exercise for very long periods of time at the camp? 15 minutes???? Is he for real? Is there another species of drumming robots out there that I don't know about?
lol...i know....15 min.....i',m lucky i can do 1 min....
He is the drum energy embodiment himself. Thomas Lang.
3:56 that face 😂😂😂
Who the fuck would dislike this lesson? It's straight to the point!
Just got my first kit, gonna start here. LMAO
OF COURSE. Triple time. How could I forget xxxxxxD
i went directly to the wood shed, unbelievable!!!!

Awesome drummer!
Wooooooooow, I didn't know you made tutorials! Loool you are so funny, just speaking and making this crasy stuff at the same time! Thanks for this exercice, lot of work here! xD
this is frickin amazing

2:55 I could listen to this for hours, just snare and bass. ♥♥♥
watching this is super easy but doing it is real hard man...
This man is a machine.
Go watch Kollias....
wow, very good
what is the name of the "old" electronic bass drums thomas used tu play that are the pedal beater inverted pointing tu the floor? which brand, model? thanks

Beautiful
All hail the machine lol, this is an exercise that im gonna have to try out!
His skills make my fucking eyes melt.
yeah guys jus practice this for about 10 years and maybe jus maybe you will be as good as me
Dalton Hunt you will need more than 10 years. He did. I guarantee it
Just a tip on the triple time. use heel toe technique and not slide technique, much easier.
im damn good and can play a lot stuff, but your double bass amazes me. i have an iron cobra double bass, do i need a dw. whatpedal would u recommend
I'll take "Things I'll never need for a paying gig" for $1,000 Alex.
;-)
Amazing stuff.
boblob2003 lol, but very true..
"....Mustang Sally! Think you better slow yo Mustang down!" BDDBDDBDDBDDBDDBDDBDBDDBDDBDDBDDBDDBDDBDDBDD! "NEXT!"
Oh I'll work it out this weekend,🤣🤣
Nice drumming
Can anyone please tell me what sounds in the td-50 module he's using? Is that any of the preset kits? I'd like to have mine sounding like this, especially the kick and snare, thanks!
anybody else wanna quit as a drummer after watch this?

+kodiak wild aye lmao
+Irawan Dw dude this makes me so tired watching this. not from his motions, but from mine and how wrong i have been doing them all these years...
Hahah speed up till you feel comfortable!.....amazing technique and amazing drummer!
Ok wow.... um.... i can dubble with my right foot but left foot... ya ok.... ill get right on that one. He made that look way too easy.... looks like i need some practice on my kick peddles. Just when i think im getting good at my dubble peddles i see this and feel like a beginner again hahaha. Guess i need to start mixing up my techniques.
4:11 my Brain is Explosion .. Double Bass is a Gatling ..i love this Man
Will there come a time when this stuff becomes a little passé, like 1980’s DW Back To Basics?
