    Not sure why people are hatin' on this guy because he is out there making noise on a Sunday. If you were working full time and wanted to do this yourself when do you think you would be taking care of it? That's right, on a Sunday! Same difference

    How would I approach the nonchalant door to door sales with window cleaning? Do you think saying something like "Hi, good morning/afternoon. I have a window cleaning company and I was in the neighborhood and just wanted to let you know you have a beautiful home. I just wanted to give you my card if you're ever interested in an estimate for window cleaning." And then walk away. Pretty much the same approach, but window cleaning *feels* different. Maybe I'm just psyching myself out

    Same thing works for roofs. You can even legally circumvent a solicitors permit so log as you don't open with a pitch. I usually drop my card and say some like it's kind of windy today. If anything should happen to blow in your yard call me and I will personally come out and take care of it. A lot of times they get nosy and I'll say it was storm damage from last weeks storm. Then boom I'm doing an inspection, standing with the adjusters and signing contracts. Doesn't always guarantee an extra sale but all in all it's 3 more people or potential customers I can be in front of. I encourage everyone to interested in increase customers to knock doors. Yeah some people will slam the door in your face, but if you enter a normal neighborhood in need of a service you provide you should be able to sell a few out of every neighborhood you go to. If you can't do that you probably won't make it.

    It sounds like you are using power shears to trim shrubs. It is definitely faster, but a lot of the high end companies in Cincinnati insist on using hand shears, and even hand pruning for several reasons. Any thoughts?

So if it works for him that way i do not see anything wrong and by the way there are still other neighborhoods that he can advertise his business to if people think noise is a problem to get a good job done. I would be too afraid to do it here in South Africa. Everyone has dog's, big fences, gates...and everybody is on edge because of the high crime. Most people would get pissed or feel uncomfortable if I were to knock on their doors/ gates. Their dog's would bark like crazy and they would have to walk all the way out to their gates or talk on the intercom... It's possible, just not as easy as it may be in other countries.

    • @whiskeybent3780
      @whiskeybent3780 7 лет назад +1

      Have you ever tried it? From my experience "it cant be done because people dont like X or do like X" is just an excuse we tell ourselves. I work in shitty neighborhoods and I know I've told myself the same thing. Gotta remember, we can't read the customers mind. Maybe they just had the conversation that "we need to get a lawn/tree guy" last night.
      Or hell, maybe your right and everyone in South Africa is afraid to knock on doors. Wouldn't that be a huge advantage if you were the only guy who did it? Sounds like an untapped market to me.

    • @TheMrericmichel
      @TheMrericmichel 7 лет назад +1

      Hello, thanks for your comment. I am wondering, do you live in South Africa or have you ever been here? Things are against the knock on doors people here people have high fences, aggressive dogs, gates far from the house, nervous disposition, wary if strangers and happy trigger fingers or fingers on the phone to security companies or the cops. There are too many risks. Things really are like this here, I am not exaggerating. You are welcome to research S.A numbers and Stats. Perhaps my original comment isn't useful but it it may just be interesting to some. I don't think it woikd be worth the while or safe for me to do. I do wish whoever undertakes it has much success, just don't come knocking on my door. Take ctae mate.
