Not sure why people are hatin' on this guy because he is out there making noise on a Sunday. If you were working full time and wanted to do this yourself when do you think you would be taking care of it? That's right, on a Sunday! Same difference
Some subdivision HOA s actually forbid using any kind of power equipment after 8 pm during the week and Sundays are considered to be a family day and this kind of thing is discouraged if not prohibited
Thank you Keith for cutting through all the blah blah other videos about how to sell door to door and just getting to the point no BS this is how I do it word for word.
thanks for the encouragement. I have am tree climber and started self employed Landscaping along time ago. sub contracting tree climbing for years because I had lost my drivers license. now I got it all back together with a truck, trailer , 48" scag walk behind with the velk, hydrostatic (my first real mower) plenty of tools, and starting to door knock again. life is great man!
You’re an eager dude. I realize this post is older than dirt but it’s cool to vicariously enjoy the enthusiasm... Good luck. You seem to be doing well.
dude I am hungry and your videos just make me want to find a way no matter I know I have the ability to speak with people and charm them your psychological approach to the customer fascinates me. keep up I ll keep watching and learning brother.
I used to canvass for an exteriors company and found out I was good at it. So I decided to canvass for my own company. If you aren’t afraid, it does work! You can easily drum up extra business. You have to simply put yourself out there
Like your style...I'm more of a sales guy or at least equal I've been door knockin since 1978 I'm 52..yea I was 9 when I got my first lawn..one thing I do is back up so I'm not in the face. People are sketchy

Great advice. I tried this and it definitely works! got my self more deals doing this than any other ways of marketing I used before. I set my quota to be at least 6 bids a day and I get at least 2 deals every time.
I only door knock on the areas that I am currently servicing.most people are more receptive when they actually see you servicing a neighbor.compared to a pack of college kids on hoverboards and I pad tablets they don't mind seeing an actual service person really getting things done.they practically sell themselves
"Hi my names Mike as u can hear we are at your neighbor bobs house! We are in the neighborhood not only working on bobs trees but also making the neighbors more aware of the health of their trees in their yards as well, when is a good time we could survey your yard as well as the health of the trees in your yard? It will take us about 25 minutes and we would give you a full break down of your property!
How would I approach the nonchalant door to door sales with window cleaning? Do you think saying something like "Hi, good morning/afternoon. I have a window cleaning company and I was in the neighborhood and just wanted to let you know you have a beautiful home. I just wanted to give you my card if you're ever interested in an estimate for window cleaning." And then walk away. Pretty much the same approach, but window cleaning *feels* different. Maybe I'm just psyching myself out
You could try to be more specific with your compliment : (example) i have noticed you have a beautiful traditional or neapolitan or whatever window right there...would you like me to clean your windows? Gl
Dude, this is what I like. Some stupid guys that work,or do the work laugh and make joke about people knocking doors, spreading cards .the thing that they don't know if that this is the root of starting your business.
Same thing works for roofs. You can even legally circumvent a solicitors permit so log as you don't open with a pitch. I usually drop my card and say some like it's kind of windy today. If anything should happen to blow in your yard call me and I will personally come out and take care of it. A lot of times they get nosy and I'll say it was storm damage from last weeks storm. Then boom I'm doing an inspection, standing with the adjusters and signing contracts. Doesn't always guarantee an extra sale but all in all it's 3 more people or potential customers I can be in front of. I encourage everyone to interested in increase customers to knock doors. Yeah some people will slam the door in your face, but if you enter a normal neighborhood in need of a service you provide you should be able to sell a few out of every neighborhood you go to. If you can't do that you probably won't make it.
What I've always thought about when trying to sell something to someone, Is what would it take for someone else get me to buy what their selling, and be confident in what you're saying.

It sounds like you are using power shears to trim shrubs. It is definitely faster, but a lot of the high end companies in Cincinnati insist on using hand shears, and even hand pruning for several reasons. Any thoughts?
+JD OConnor . its not about the noise, its about the quality of the job, noise would be made any day regardless if its a holiday or not with respect to that job. Not difficult at all I sell 4500$ a day quite regularly! I do sales for a tree removal company 20% commission! Once you remove that fear and replace it with motivation; the possibilities are endless
I think it's cause he walks around the middle of the road like weirdo with her phone recording videos. I'm surprised you don't have the cops called on you.
I would be too afraid to do it here in South Africa. Everyone has dog's, big fences, gates...and everybody is on edge because of the high crime. Most people would get pissed or feel uncomfortable if I were to knock on their doors/ gates. Their dog's would bark like crazy and they would have to walk all the way out to their gates or talk on the intercom... It's possible, just not as easy as it may be in other countries.
Have you ever tried it? From my experience "it cant be done because people dont like X or do like X" is just an excuse we tell ourselves. I work in shitty neighborhoods and I know I've told myself the same thing. Gotta remember, we can't read the customers mind. Maybe they just had the conversation that "we need to get a lawn/tree guy" last night. Or hell, maybe your right and everyone in South Africa is afraid to knock on doors. Wouldn't that be a huge advantage if you were the only guy who did it? Sounds like an untapped market to me.
Hello, thanks for your comment. I am wondering, do you live in South Africa or have you ever been here? Things are against the knock on doors people here people have high fences, aggressive dogs, gates far from the house, nervous disposition, wary if strangers and happy trigger fingers or fingers on the phone to security companies or the cops. There are too many risks. Things really are like this here, I am not exaggerating. You are welcome to research S.A numbers and Stats. Perhaps my original comment isn't useful but it it may just be interesting to some. I don't think it woikd be worth the while or safe for me to do. I do wish whoever undertakes it has much success, just don't come knocking on my door. Take ctae mate.

It sounds like you are using power shears to trim shrubs. It is definitely faster, but a lot of the high end companies in Cincinnati insist on using hand shears, and even hand pruning for several reasons. Any thoughts?
You can make mistakes at a smaller scale by hand trimming where power trimming gone wrong cannot be undone
So... you rely on making noise, on a Sunday, and have a lot of obvious respect for your customers... and consider that success. Terrific approach.
