I grew up during the 90's with Conrail being the biggest and best railroad around. Man do I miss Big Blue and all the friendly railroaders who would wave and honk the horn when I would watch from the side of the tracks. My grandpa would take me out to see them because he grew up with the Pennsylvania Railroad and would always tell me about the PRR and NYC. Now I just have my good memories of Conrail and times that seem so distant now. Long live Big Blue in our hearts. God bless all the railroaders who worked for the company and knew how special it was.
Zach Bloomquist All I can say is thank you I understand 110% man!!!
Your welcome! I still miss the big blue trains rolling thru town. Now all we have are the great memories to cherish and remember. Have a great day man! And thanks for posting such a wonderful video. God Bless Conrail.
Looked better then than it does now. I wish Big Blue were still around.
Thanks, Glad you liked it....I miss Conrail, too. Craig
Nice video. Like the other people who commented, I, too, miss Conrail.😢
I don't recall watching this, but I commented....so I will again. This brings back a lot of memories. My father used to bring me here all the time, and I remember standing on the bridge. I remember the yard looking this way. I completely forgot about the sanding tower being there, and the other two buildings at the edge. And Conrail! It's been at least 10 years since I've seen Conrail blue in action. So much in this video and not a single CSX unit in sight. I favorited this video :)
Great video! Only 20 years and ALL of those locomotives are gone. Sad.
love the video. long live conrail!!!
Very nice video, Selkirk is one of my favorite yards. Alot has changed over the years but it is still very active with some good foreign power in the mix.
Thanks for the info! Craig
yeah i miss this shade of blue so much
love that blue
Miss big blue 🙌🏾
Worked here many years and during this time. Just watching this I can smell the diesel fuel. Retired no, I still have dreams of working here... most pictures taken from the yardmasters tower at the hump... the last building is the engine house where the engines are awaiting service.... and it ticks me off... dreaming of working there now... I figure if I am going to work I should get paid : )
well lucky you...I think it has changed alot between now and then... The ALCO switcher is Manufacturers Railway I believe... Thanks
Must've been on the way to the Grafton & Upton
The contrail at 2:17 now works for fglk (finger lakes railway) in Geneva New York but not its painted in the fglk colors and renumbered to 2301
Wat models are all those locomotives
Great. Video. Conrail.is.gone.its.sad.
Hi Glenn, Glad you liked the vid! Craig
wow, i wonder why the G&U S4 #212 is in the yard at 0:38? I'm pretty sure it was already under G&U ownership by then so possibly in for repairs.
John Rezuke I believe it was enroute to the GU after they bought it.
Here is a picture of it a month later enroute to Grafton:

Yeah, that looks like 212. Funny though, she isn't with us anymore.
The green switcher looks like an Alco locomotive
Could CSX rename the railroad conrail
This is when It makes it's debut?
whats that green switcher?
Did csx buy this yard in 1999 ?
