    MEMORY
Artists have long been drawn to Dumfries and Galloway. With a focus on Dumfries and Galloway's artistic legacy and its continual appeal for living artists, these speakers will talk about living and working in the region, their journey towards feeling part of an artistic community, and being inspired or influenced by memory, artwork or artists from the past.
Stina Wirfelt - Stina has worked with moving image as her primary medium since 2004. Having been an exchange student at Glasgow school of Art while studying, she graduated with an MFA from Malmö Art Academy in 2007 and subsequently relocated to Glasgow. The city has been both the backdrop and the subject in several of her videos. Both Shelter from the Storm (2009) and Tame Time (2010) draws subjective links between observations from the streets, online imagery, romantic novels and many other sources. Tame Time was commissioned by Centre for Contemporary Art, the video was recently screened at Rotterdam International Film Festival, FilmFest DC and IndieLisboa. Other recent exhibitions by Wirfelt include a solo show at +44141, SWG3 and group shows at Embassy, Intermedia and Transmission. During 2008-2009 she took part in LUX Associate Artist Program in London and in 2010 she spent two months as artist in residence at Headlands Centre for the Arts in California.
