Pros: -Small and ergonomic for all hand size, good for people who carries laptop all over the place. -Pretty sensitive to movement, you can pull some really fast camera turn in shooter games with ease. -Lightweight, it's only a little bit heavier than a real pen. Cons: -Short battery life, this thing only uses a single triple a battery so you have to change the battery more often. -Imprecise control, pin point accuracy is really hard with this mouse. -Bad build quality, it breaks after 8 months from regular use for me. -Terrible for drawing, sorry fellow artist, you're not getting a cheap drawing pad with this. @@SidShakal would probably make it a better niche for artists, but would be more awkward for pretty much any other task. Though admittedly, it'd probably make a cool control gimmick for a game made around it.
I’d recommend using a mouse tablet instead of that pen mouse, it’s basically the same thing but instead of having the mouse track it’s own movement, it’s on a tablet that tracks with absolute positioning
I actually use a pen for fps games but it's designed as an actual drawing tablet pen. I grip the buttons on my thumb so the pressure of my other fingers don't mess up the positioning of my hand
Just telling you for like another video idea that is mainly used for ous it's a game that you have to tap dots with, and it also has sliders, which is hard to do with a mouse, and that's really good for that kind of thing
I feel like moving the click to the thumb instead of index for this grip would eliminate much of the issue. I know we are trained to click with the index finger, but for the hand position i think the thumb would be more natural and ergonomic.
pens are also just something you need to get used to. I use a drawing tablet, when I first bought it I didn't have the muscle memory to draw smoothly or quickly. It's no different from breaking in a new mouse.
That's used for graphic design, I'm a graphic designer and if used them since high school. Cool tool for the right price for a kid teaching themselves in school.
This reminds me of when I used an emulator to connect a ps3 controller to my pc to play minecraft a long time ago, it comes down to software because the pen likely doesn’t have acceleration and smoothing, which are good features in mice but having the ability to tune those things to your liking really makes a difference when it comes to gaming
I've been using that exact mouse pen for about 4 years now and it feels perfectly natural to me. I think if you had a while to adjust to the mouse, you might have a more accurate comparison and better results.
I'd say that pen is simply a weird in between, because it still uses relative positioning. Try a pen tablet with absolute positioning (i.e. top left corner of the tablet corresponds to top left of the screen), especially for drawing. Will be pretty useless for fps though, there only relative works properly^^
It's because you MUST hold that wireless "pen" at a specific angle and orientation for it to work, while an actual pen can rotate, twist, and move around a lot and still work. Compare that pen to the kind of pen you see digital artists use (example: Wacom Intuos 4 pen). You'll probably have a better time. There is a reason why digital pen/keyboard combo is popular in precision games like OSU
Got one of these a few months ago as an uber-compact mouse. It's now collecting dust while I use a cheap, normal travel mouse. My main issue is you need to hold it at the specific angle it's designed for or it won't register. My comfortable writing angle is nearly 90 degrees, so having to hold it at roughly 45 to use it isn't great.
I definitely think the button on the mouse affected it I use a drawing tablet, its it's easier for me to hover the pen and tap to click/shoot But moving the camera with the pen is a little tougher, at least from my experience
Another hidden function of those mouse pens is that they are also compatible with Android devices and will actually bring out a on screen mouse and its wonderful for tons of apps
That mouse is meant to be used as a stylus. Its mostly for osu players or artists on a budget. I had one, it did its job, and i was happy with it until my brother broke it.
If you had used the support for the mouse your results would have been better most likely. I have several of these and for drawing and other applications that are not directly suited to on screen emulation they are actually significantly better than most mice. This said it takes some learning for games.
To be honest this can be an alt (And cheeper) way for artists have a pen most of them buy a drawimg tablet and connect it to the pc but for people that dont have money this can be a temporal option
I'm someone who doesn't really use a mouse that often not even when gameing and I'm also a digital artist do i think i could use that really well. Way better than a traditional mouse.
I wonder how the pen style mouse would be for aiming if it was possible to click with some other part of your body, like using pedals for feet powered clicks.
