my best friend read this book and then I got it after her recommendation, and this book genuinely saved middle school me. i remember just feeling so alone and reading this realizing that other people knew what i was going through and could put it into words made me feel that i could get through my depression and anxiety, i haven’t gone back to it in quite awhile (like since mid high school) sometimes just reading the last page will help me find the foundation i need to continue fighting. I’m scared my adult brain will realize how teen angsty the book might be.
i think the Craig character choice was absolutely perfect, and i’m writing this comment before watch the video hoping that the movie is a good representation of the book that has helped me for years.

Wow, I didn’t know you also went through that, I’m glad you didn’t go through with it at the time. I never read this book, but I did watch some parts of the movie and was immediately banned from watching it because I was pretty young at the time to be watching it XD I’m not sure where this channel is going, I’ve been watching BVM for years and had worked here for a time, but I’ll follow. I liked this video, it’s very stripped down and it’s honest, even if the book isn’t all good, I don’t know exactly how I felt about how you should appreciate what you have because in my personal experience when you start saying you should feel better because you have it better than others you start to feel guilty for even having depression and it just starts getting worse. It’s truly a shame the writer committed suicide, hearing how he’s helped you in your situation, and I wish he could’ve gotten help or more help, I don’t know the situation. I guess that’s enough of this comment, eh? Sorry for writing a flipping paragraph lol

I feel like this was more of a “diet” version (which isn’t a bad thing) to a BVM which is more in-depth and I understand if you didn’t to want the video to be like 40 minutes, because lord knows how grueling that much work it takes. This was overall a good video.

the book was absolutely terrible. it so poorly represents everything while making sure to mock people who are struggling differently. 100% do not recommend.

The series that saved me was, believe it or not, the anime Gurren Lagann. The motivation and encouragement really saved my life.
