There has been a lot of blame on poor coaching, but this loss was NOT all on the coaches. You put those kids out there on defense who dont have the horses to make stops. Period. They have to stop somebody and yesterday proved that the talent was not there to make stops. All year long, the defense never got their back up and never showed any consistency. They could not stop anybody. The perimeter and boundary defense was awful and good to average offenses took advantage of their chink in the armour. If you want to contend for a championship of any kind, the Canes have to be great on both sides of the ball. Stop deluding yourselves, until we recruit the kind of defensive players that we had when we won 5 rings, we wont make a serious run. I have confidence that our coach is dedicated to getting the D turned around, just like he has done with the O.

Fire Guidry. I'm not blaming anything that Cam or Mario did. They scored 38 and have the best offense in the nation. That's enough to win all your games if you have any semblance of a defense. To put any blame on the only bright spot of this season (the offense and scouting, aka Mario, that brought this offense together, along with OC) is absolutely insane if you ask me. All credibility and respect as a knowledgeable football person is lost IMO from that point on. Then those that have an issue with the field goal - acting like Syracuse would not have gotten the ball back REGARDLESS with THEN an OPEN PLAYBOOK to drive against a defense that hadn't stopped a drive with a score since the first few minutes of the game...I mean what the hell are you smoking man?! If the Canes gamble and get the TD Syracuse is laid out with the scenario above and chances are very likely that they drive and win the game. If you miss you have ENDED THE GAME EARLY. If they take the auto 3 they have an actual chance of holding this team by limiting them to just the one thing that they had been able to stop..the run. I mean JC Miami fans deserve this. I've grown up hearing this same BS all my life during talk radio. The call was the right call with anyone that doesn't have the constant propensity to second guess everything the coaches do, like they know the future; except worse in this case, doesn't even make any logical sense considering the scenarios presented above.

When the Miami players play every team the way they play Clemson, Florida, or FSU they will win the ACC. They don’t respect these other teams and they keep getting beat. You can see the arrogance. They are afraid to lose to these teams but always play like we will get them the next play against inferior teams. There is no next play. I’m excited to see Emory play now because teams reflect the personality of the QB. Grit, hard work, and want to! Hard work beats talent every time when talent doesn’t work hard. That’s the problem at the core. Love Cam but I said it all year if he could just run the play and take the check down they would almost never have these lulls. That arrogance cost possessions you have to have in big games. Syracuse qb best plays were unnoticed. Consistently throwing the little 5 yards pass to get a first down or 3rd and 2. Achilles heel of Cam. Doesn’t like to do it consistently.

This is definitely not the same team that beat Florida and for those people that will say "Florida sucks"!!, well you're wrong. Florida had the toughest schedule in the country where many experts had them winning no more than 3 games and yet they finished 7-5 which in my opinion, Napier did a better coaching job than Cristobal. I don't think Miami deserves a spot in the playoffs but I'm also thinking that the committee might squeak them in because of ratings. Let's be realistic, Miami is a big regardless what people may think. Half the country loves them and the other half hates them but people still likes to watch them but we'll see. I never cozy up to Ward because i feel players like him will have coaches become lazy and lack of creativity in play calling which made Miami predictable. If the committee leaves them out, it's well deserved but if they put them in, it would be for ratings and FSU will definitely be pissed if Miami is in, especially what happened to them last year 😅

I think the offense was great all season and really have no complaints there. The defense was so bad that I don't know if I can even blame Guidry. The defensive line was getting completely blown off the ball. There was 0 pass rush. Players getting completely burned off of one move. And the missed tackles.... The other thing I find annoying is that after every defensive play, there is always a Miami player flailing on the ground in pain, which to me indicates their taking it and not giving it. The defense wasn't bad last year. I don't know why they regressed so much.

  • @ShiftGolf

When you have 2 refs standing right next to Jacolby George laying on the ground at the 1 yard line with a syracuse defender standing directly over him and taunting him only to give George a 15 yard penalty to move Miami out of scoring position, and you think this game wasn't changed by ref calls? 5-7 calls made to bring plays back plus a phantom 3 & 10 PI on a clean break up to give syr a 1st goal to score from the 1 yard line. You don't think the refs made a difference in the game? Look at what the refs did to Ga Tech who had the game won until the refs took control and allowed illegal hits on the QB made no calls. The refs have no review process and it is pretty evident they are stealing games and the fans are starting to catch on.

If we had even a mediocre defense that got stops and turnovers occasionally we would be ranked #1 or 2 because our offense is that good. We took the field this season with an offense that was actually a liability so Mario has a lot of work to do on that side of the ball beginning with finding a defensive coordinator who is good.
