  • We cycled around Kawaguchiko (13Miles) and Lake Saiko (6Miles) over a weekend.
We stayed in a hostel called Honobono near Lake Kawaguchi that actually rented bicycles, but we brought our own, so we could take our kids with us.
We went on April 8th-9th 2023, and it was the perfect time to see the cherry blossoms in bloom around the lakes of Mount Fuji.
I was a little concerned about the roads being safe for bicyclists, but as I’ve found almost everywhere in Japan it was very bicycle friendly with many dedicated bicycle and walking paths around the lakes.
Kawaguchiko had plenty of stores and restaurants to stop in at, but Lake Saiko seemed much more rustic, so I would recommend packing some food when make that trip, especially if continuing on to the further lakes.
We really enjoyed the Bat Cave at Lake Saiko, and wish we had time to explore the other caves and volcanic terrain of that area.

Yea I got to make an update video. It’s like a year and half now. Leg is doing pretty good. Did a half marathon two weeks ago with no pain. But occasionally I still do tweak the back of my knee I think it is hamstring related. So working on strengthening that. Been playing volleyball too.
