Maulana Najam Chaudhry has made a funny comment "We know more about the Prophet (sws) than our parents!". In other words he is saying that he knows more about the blessed Prophet through the "Asmaa-ur-rijaal" than his parents. That's pretty bizarre, to say the least. He should know that he has certainly seen and known about his parents and probably has been with them for the longest time…and yet he claims he knows a lot more about those whom he has NEVER seen and met, and those who certainly passed away centuries ago! If this is not total nonsense, I do not know what is. Let me assert that the thing we call Hadith is certainly not what the Prophet (sws) said or did - but that which was reported by some ancient “imams’ 200-250 or more years AFTER his passing away. How on earth can ANYTHING be authentic when we have nothing saved or archived from the time of the Messenger (sws) in terms of inscriptions, manuscripts, rocks etc, the way we have the complete Qur'an preserved in at least two museums, or thousands of parchment pieces that have survived the ravages of time.
He gave the example of Mohijo Daro and likened it with hadith folklore. What? Mohinjo Daro is standing tall in front of our own eyes and we can study it in any scientific way we can. But Hadith? Come on. Make some sense.
Here's my punchline: How come Allah saved the Qur'an, and put His personal seal on its eternal preservation (15:9) but He did not do that for anything else - Hadith, history or what have you??? It is inconceivable to even think that the Master Teacher Allah almighty did not do a complete job and left a lot of it incomplete. Did He (swt) really leave A LOT to the fallible human beings to collect and sort out? Is Allan imperfect (ma'azallah summa ma'azallah)?
I wish our malanas we fondly call “Ulema” were well-versed in modern science - especially in the thing we call "Science" to learn about how "science' works. The thing they call "science of hadith" is nothing but pure hearsay tales and speculation based on the "credibility and truthfulness" of people they have never met or talked to.
Here’s my punchline: I challenge this maulana - or any maulana (shaikh) to find me a SINGLE ayah in the Qur’an where Allah (swt) has used the word “Hadith” in the SAME sense that we hear being defined day in day out as “sayings/actions/tacit approvals of Prophet Muhammad”!!!
….Or else, I can find quite a few ayaat where Allah has used the word “Hadith” ONLY FOR THE QUR’AN and no other book!
