Not disappointing at all to me! I absolutely love this…his beautiful voice is haunting! We don’t need his full 7 octaves for every song! He’s developing his acting chops as well!

Cuban Samba music (Krutoy passion) and a sultry bossa nova voiced Dimash and you can dance samba to it - what's not to love ? Contrasted against 1937 Stalinist Russia in sepia and black and white, dark Russian novel look, gives the video a stunning juxtaposition! Another brilliant Krutoy Dimash collaboration.

👉 Dimash's broken, delicately breathy voice, a simple melody with uncomplcated pop rhythm (reminiscent a bit of 'I Miss You'), loving, sad but also comforting words and haunting images... and this adorable smile from Dimash... tears flow over my smiling face.
For me, the lyrics, the pop beat and the images of the video all go together very well.
Dimash leaves his beloved because she has someone else. He knows that the other can become dangerous to him, but he doesn't know that his beloved is being blackmailed by this secret policeman. He thinks she's happy.
Dimash assures her that everything is 'okay', he accepts and she should too. Life goes on and the pain will fade. It seems easy for him to give up his love. (pop beat, almost like a fast heartbeat) ... but you can hear the pain in Dimash's voice. He's fooling himself and her.
The secret policeman, who suspects something, wants to catch Dimash. When he finally realizes that the young woman will never love him, he gives her the 'choice'. She flees with Dimash... A shot is fired...
End? It leaves us stunned. What will happen? You brood and brood, but you can't get it out of your head. For whom is the glass always half full and for whom is it always half empty? ... Fascinating, clever ... great!
Director Alina Veripia was blown away when she learned she was to create the story and video for Dimash's new song. Dimash also chose Alina's favorite from 4 stories: A beautiful and deep love story set in the years of Stalin's repression. This love is so deep, pure and immortal, It defies the horror, the fear, the penetrating cold and darkness of this time.
The video was recorded in color but looks black and white, very dark, spookey. Only the lovers are shown in a bright, sun-drenched, warm, bronze-colored setting. These scenarios reinforce the intense feelings emanating from Dimash's breathy, delicate voice and the haunting, magical and beguiling, but also from the frightening and disturbing images.
The location was St. Petersburg, appropriate to the dark year 1937 in which the video takes place. (Source and more information on Dimashnews)

As always, surprising, new sounding. Igor Krutoy (born in Ukraine, lives in Russia) composed this song for Dimash. Dimash have chosen one of four scenarios for this song. He postponed premier of this song in Moscow because of the war Russia started in Ukraine.

OK, for those who do not know love stories under the totalitarian regime of the 30s and the Russian mentality. The policeman is in love with her and considers her his girlfriend, but he also knows that she does not love him. But she loves Dimash and the policeman was informed that they were secretly dating and he decided to catch them together. Dimash managed to escape. The policeman understands that she will never be his. So that no one would get her, he decided to kill her and Dimash. He brought her to Dimash and pretended that he was letting her go, and when she ran with Dimash, he came out and shot them in the back. Got it or not ? This is a dramatic intrigue, so that people draw different scenarios in their heads for another week.

Quoting Alina Veripya, the video director and writer of the script : “This is a very beautiful and deep love story that takes place during the years of Stalin’s repressions. In this horror, in this piercing cold, in this crime, the love of two people is born, as if they did not come from this world. And they are so pure, so beautiful in their feelings, that no darkness can extinguish this light." On the question of location, the team made an unanimous decision to shoot the MV in St. Petersburg, because no other city could convey the flavor of the harsh and terrible year of > 1937. Their love story is invaded, and broken by NKVD (old name for KGB), representatives of the regime`s power, who could pick on you for any reason, take anything from you, throw you in jail, legally execute you, and even assassinate you, shoot you in the back. The officer represents power, so he can claim anything he wants, and he can get away with anything.
It`s not about forbidden love, it`s about the attitude of people representing power in an authoritarian regime, to destroy, reduce a "world full of color" down to only "a flash in the sky". The switch back and forth between images of the happy couple and images of the girl being pestered by the NKVD officer, has the purpose of highlighting the contrast between the sun-lit beauty of good and love, and the grim-colored ugliness of evil intentions.
The subject of the story is the fate of beauty, good and purity under an oppressive regime, and the self-entitlement of evil, that puts it`s brutal stamp over it, with the gunshot.
The screen going black before the gunshot helps keep the focus on the attitude of evil, who doesn`t know to do anything other than hurt, successfully or not - instead of who the NKVD agent managed to hit or not.
That gunshot remains ringing in the dark, making it timeless, leaving us with a bitter taste, and making it a powerful reminder of historical brutality.

the uniformed guy is wearing a NKVD (KGB) uniform from the Stalinist era. He's a bad guy, for sure in this video. He was searching for Dimash, decided he wanted to take the girl for himself.

I like the song and the story but I have to agree, it disappointed me as well. All the recently released songs were slow, heavy and had deep meaning... nothing wrong with that. But my gosh he is a 28 year old man, where is the fun, where are some up beat dance numbers? Just my opinion....

Be with Me, Give me your Love, Fly Away, many other upbeat songs especially the Kazakh folk songs like Kiele Meken. Check his yt channel for his catalogue, don't make the mistake of thinking he only sings in one genre.

Why do you think I don't know his catalogue? Yes, he has upbeat songs but the really danceable ones are older, e.g. Leyla, My Beauty, Qazaqstan, Give me your Love. Fly Away is not what I consider a dance song and Stranger, Ave Maria and now Okay are just really heavy. Of course I love them and that's the last I will say about this.

@@claudiapeters6860 Give me your Love not a dance song? When he dances all the way through each performance. I don't understand but each to their own.
