Hi Liz and Paul! This is a beautiful campground, WOW 🤩 hope you guys are having fun and getting ready for the bike trip! Sending you love and thank you for the gorgeous video! Jennifer
Good video. I don’t have an RV. I live in a cold climate area. I’m interested in renting a cabin there next winter for about a month. I just researched it. About $130 a night. Nice. Looks like a perfect place to get out of the winter for a month. Thanks for the great video.
I’ve never been to Florida and so thank you for the videos. It’s good to know that there are places to camp without booking-out a year in advance. Miss you two!
Looks like a nice place. I lived in Naples, Florida for many, many years. I currently winter in Melbourne, Fl. About as far north as I can stand as far as wintering in Florida. It gets pretty cold in Jacksonville. Better than Minnesota but to ensure nice warm weather thru the winter you have to in very south Florida. Happy travels.
Great share and video! Thanks MUCH for sharing! I had to LOL at pig tail? Yep I have had that and Ox tail in soups mostly, Had not seen it smoked, but maybe in the south? All the BEST and safe travesl! Cheers :)
Thanks Marty! Yes, that pig tail had us scratching our heads. We have since learned that one way to use it is to include it in a pot of beans for flavoring. Let us know when your pig tail soup is done though and we'll give it a try!!
Old timers with cast iron pans used pig tail to grease their frying pans. They just left the tail on the back of the stove until they needed it. While the skillet was heating up they’d grab the tail and at the cut off section, slide it along the surface. Another good video and thanks for the intel.
I'm so jealous! I have watched the first few seconds of your video and say this. I have been home in Northern Wisconsin since December and seeing you all in shorts makes me colder than I already am!! LOL. Ok, off to watch the video, which I know will be great!! Yup! Great video!!
I immediately knew where you were, I have been there before. Very Nice!! ITs my hometown, I grew up on the Northside close to the Airport JIA.. Welcome to Jacksonville !! Happy Trails
YIKES! I just checked for one week..... $95 per night. NO thank you! I much prefer the Orange County campgrounds at less than $20 per night (seniors) and also Hillsborough County campgrounds. The greatest!
Yes, shop around for sure. We stayed at this campground recently- just $550 a month! Not what we expected | No Florida campground reservations in January | Suwannee River Rendezvous ruclips.net/video/A5KvGtHV8mQ/видео.html
Place looks awesome. You both look great! Keep safe Liz and Paul, thanks for the video! 🤗 I bet the temperature in Jacksonville is a bit better than Canada in January… lol.
Well it did get down to the mid 50s one night. Brrr! I had to wear socks and sneakers the next morning instead of flip flops! We are headed north and headed east plan to bring some of that warm weather with us!
You can put pig tails in a pot of beans or greens as seasoning. I've never done it but I've seen it done. Funny story, you guys are parked in our old spot at flamingo! we were there from June of last year to the end of January. when the new company bought it, they hiked the rates tremendously and booted about 2/3 of the full timers that were there. we enjoyed our time there. Nice place!
When we called last year they said the rates were $800 a month. That seemed too low. Although we paid $1400-1500 on the water, we were surprised that the ones not on the water were only $100 cheaper. We loved 162 and would stay there anytime. So glad you got to enjoy it for so many months!! And good to know about the beans, that makes sense. Thank you!
We treated ourselves to a premium site and just left there two weeks ago! Down side to those double hookups is when a Class A noses in next to you and they have some really poor campsite etiquette. Amongst other things, they flooded our campsite with their lights all week. ugh! Also, as pretty as those decks on the lake are, I really don't think they were worth the extra cost. Over all though, you're right; it's a great campground! Keep up the great videos!
Glad you gave it a try! That's a good point about knowing campsite etiquette. Yikes. We liked both sites that we had during that month, none with decks but both had great views. Thanks for watching and your kind words. Here is our latest: ruclips.net/video/zcmuM2MNShY/видео.html
The campground is nice it's in a not to bad area and the lake is nice I would recommend this as a good spot to go. It is close to some real bad areas that are not that far away by vehicle, so if you venture out just pay attention and do some research. Also, the heat is no joke here it is hot as hell most of the time and the mosquitos are bad. however, when this was taped it is nice out. No slamming LIZ AMAZING, love their videos and the information they put. I just know Jacksonville...
Another good thing about Jacksonville is you can watch space launches and actually hear and feel the vibrations or go down and get an up close experience.
@@LizAmazing I lived in Lakeland for many years and watched launches in my back yard! When the shuttles were launching you could both hear them after they got about 2 miles up and even feel it in your chest. Nothing but awesome! Now that I live in Missouri I can see them on approach. To bad I also saw when the one that crashed was coming in and saw the trail of flames and smoke and knew something was wrong and went in and watched as the video feed was shut off then the announcement of the disaster. Oh that was a heart breaker.
It looks like paradise to me, especially with a on-the-water space !!! My wife uses pig's tails and pig's feet in a traditional Mexican soup recipe handed down from her mother... I have Mac n Cheese on those nights 🙂
I’m a full-timer, from Jacksonville. Flamingo Lake is my favorite RV Resort. But unlike you, I don’t find it affordable. Even the at the monthly rate. You can go one exit south and there is a nice park at 1/2 the cost.
We don’t think $30 a night is too bad. But we typically camp for free by staying at Thousand Trails. We’ll have to check out that other campground next time. Thanks for the tip!
Great way to get Paul to stop on a dime..... Ooo Look, Car Show. LOL Good review, we stop near Jacksonville each year when we go to Fla to visit family in October. Will have to check it out. Thank you
Another fun video! Thanks for the tips. I'm a Georgia girl and we use everything but the oink. So pig tail can be cooked in most dishes for flavor. I know there are some that eat pigs feet and tail (not me) but you can put it in with your beans. Next time you pass thru I-20 near Bremen GA stop at Pioneer Ford & check out the small car museum at the dealership. Also when in Charleston SC go to Bessinger BBQ the first Wednesday of every month for the car show. Hope to meet you on the road~
Ah, that makes sense for flavoring the beans, thanks! We won’t be close to Bremen, unfortunately but we will be heading to Charleston. Thanks for the tips!

Still pretty pricey for those of us that live on a fixed income. $1500 a month is a lot of money. South Texas is every bit as beautiful as Florida and a whole lot cheaper. 👍🤗❤️
Yeah, you payer higher prices close to the city. I think you saw our video about this campground, just $550 a month! Not what we expected | No Florida campground reservations in January | Suwannee River Rendezvous ruclips.net/video/A5KvGtHV8mQ/видео.html
Ok thats 15 minutes from me. I thought it was a bit expensive. Its got lots of amenities as well as a rf /condo sites. Also its not far from “Pecan Park”. Its a a huge flea market under roofs
Holy cow. I can rent a nice apartment for that much, or buy a house. Come on. 1400 a month for a parking spot. Wow. I have been spending winters for 450 a month including electric in N Central Fl. And you are right, our home base is E NC. And the summers there are HOT. And humid pretty similar to Central Fl. Omg if 1400 is Cheap?!
Hi Fred. Yes, $1400 is a DEAL for the Jacksonville Florida market. There is a housing and rental shortage. However, we did a video about another Florida campground where you can camp for just $500 a month. Check it out here: ruclips.net/video/A5KvGtHV8mQ/видео.html And thanks for watching.
@@LizAmazing 51 today up here in beautiful Vancouver bc but it’s warmer we’re expecting sun for a few days getting close to bringing the trailer out of storage
Nice looking park. Sun Outdoors is buying/building everywhere. We’ve stayed in a few of their resorts. I’ve emailed them to build a huge park in the Sarasota area. Hope they do! Pray for peace in Ukraine. Maranatha.
@@LizAmazing no real travel plans...one of our daughters was involved in a crime that was caused by illegals...she was almost killed...trying to help her and her family for now...please watch your back and stay safe...
Hi Liz and Paul! I hope we cross paths with you guys again. In the meantime, on the topic of vicinity of St. Augustine, have you (or other readers here) ever stayed in the Stagecoach RV Resort? We are finding it about $10/night less, although there isn't a pool.
I'm not a serious full time RVer and I like to travel to small out of the way campgrounds. That campground map looks like a little city! One of the last places we stayed at had 400 spaces. It was not enjoyable because it was just way too congested and noisy.
If you want to get away from it all, this might not be your place. You may really like this one: Not what we expected | No Florida campground reservations in January | Suwannee River Rendezvous ruclips.net/video/A5KvGtHV8mQ/видео.html
@@LizAmazing we have been known to arrive and leave a campground on the same day as they weren't what the websites say they were. We have our go to spots every year as we do a lot of exploring during the daylight hours. This year we plan to do a lot of remote camping without the trailer.
That looks like a very nice place got a question for you guys are you still using your Anderson hitch pulling the 310 and have you experienced any problems thank you
We are going to Jacksonville in May and staying at a city park. We don't really like corporate owned campgrounds. They are too expensive and campers are crammed together. The mom and pop campgrounds are the best and reasonably priced.
We didn't find that many campgrounds in JAX at all. State and city parks we looked at had a seven or 14 day limit. Let us know where the good ones are!!!
Great review. We'll be in the area next February and now we know where we're staying. Do you remember what site number you were standing in or what site number you occupied? That would be perfect. Do you know if they will let you reserve a particular site? Thanks for sharing!
That works out to $30 a day but we typically camp for free by staying in Thousand Trails campgrounds. The membership allows us to splurge every once in a while.
Hi friends, hope your both well. Been a bit of a rough week here, omicron reached our wee village, we are fine, our wee Jack Russell got diagnosed with liver cancer, and our freezer stopped working, so how lovely to see your video pop up and you brightened up our life. What a beautiful spot you found, and your portrayal of it, made us feel like we were there. Thank you so much, you are wonderful people and brighten up many peoples lived. Take care , stay safe and end of video jokes just cracked us up. Love from brian @ barbs in South island New Zealand. X
consult a naturopathic vet or one that specializes in homeopathy. I cured my fatally ill doberman of liver failure by using a homeopathic remedy. it worked very fast.
Awww, your poor baby. I hope he is doing ok. And so sorry about Omicron, too! What a week. Paul and I hope your community pulls together and pushes through. Sending much love to you. And kisses to your Jack Russell.
Liz, Paul. Looks like a nice park. Our only concern is that a large rig could get in there. With a 44' 5th wheel plus HDT to pull it some of the places look a little on the tight side for getting around. Wouldn't want to get in there and then play h backing out. Safe travels and roads. @@LizAmazing Don't mind the highway noise. Have had a refer running behind my large car for almost forty years. Probably won't be able to sleep. Too quite 😂😭

It can be chilly- but nothing like up North! Thanks for watching and see you in my brand new video right here: ruclips.net/video/-4V8KVdMnBA/видео.html
Wow, I just paid $300 for a month plus electricity for January and February in Texas. About 5 miles from Daingerfield State Park. Next door to tennis courts, baseball field, walking trails, grocery, gas, and thirty minutes to nearest Walmart. I cannot fathom $1400 per month for an RV site, but it looks pretty nice! Today, I am heading to Arkansas next for free boondocking in the Ouachita National Forest. It just shows you the vast differences in cost of RV living. You really can spend as much or as little as your budget allows. I look forward to watching your cycling trip across America! How is the training going? :)
Hi Luann! Sounds like you got yourself a great deal! The closest thing we could find in Florida is $550 a monrh right here, a heck of a deal!! Not what we expected | No Florida campground reservations in January | Suwannee River Rendezvous ruclips.net/video/A5KvGtHV8mQ/видео.html Training is going well: 92 miles a week ago, 98 miles last week. Total miles over a few rides. Are you going to bike with us on either of the week tours?
We'd never heard of them before. Sorry to hear that about pricing. They use dynamic pricing (like the airlines) so if it's close to the check-in date and they are almost full the prices will be higher. At least you can book a year out, so that might be the plan. Thanks for watching!

You aren't missing anything by not seeing downtown Jax. Not much there; it's a "wannabe" city that won't spend the money to become a real destination. I have lived here for 19 years. It would be all right for a short stay, I suppose. But it does get cold during the winter (we have killing frosts); you need a winter jacket. And during the summer it is hot and humid.
@@Stephanie-vn6ir Then that wouldn't work for you. $500 is the cheapest we've found for one month rent BUT if you pay a year in advance, Carolina Landings in SC charges just $2400 a year- can't beat that!
We called last year trying to book the winter there and they told us that, too. They made it sound like the computer wouldn’t let them do it, so we thought it must be some glitch. I know you can book one year out but it must not be for monthly. Strange.
Great question! No. There is a great bike trail not too far, Jacksonville-Baldwin. There is a section currently under construction. We biked in St. Augustine, Amelia Island and Jekyll Island while we were there. Good rides!
@@peterfernandezjr5914 Believe me, we tried! Do not recommend. We did ok in one direction but couldn’t find enough bike lane. The other direction (left on Lem Turner from the campground) was a death wish!

With all the happenings in Ukraine and rusky lately, the price of gas may get very expensive, so you should strongly think about staying at that rv park or the next suitable one much longer than you normally do, to not bankrupt yourself with gas prices...our gasoline is up by 25% in two weeks!!...

Thanks Ed. I've had oxtail soup but not ox tail itself.
Thanks for watching!
Check it out here: ruclips.net/video/A5KvGtHV8mQ/видео.html
And thanks for watching.
That’s really nice I would love to be there I think you guys should stay a little longer 👍
Oh no. Still cold up there? We are excited to see the east coast!
Maranatha.
Thank you, and yes. ☮️
Stay!
Hi guys👋...thanks for the video...nice place...you guys stay safe...take care...J&A 🙋♀️🙋🐈
Hey you two! How are you doing? Surviving winter? Travel plans soon?
@@LizAmazing no real travel plans...one of our daughters was involved in a crime that was caused by illegals...she was almost killed...trying to help her and her family for now...please watch your back and stay safe...

@@LizAmazing thanks
Hi Liz and Paul! I hope we cross paths with you guys again. In the meantime, on the topic of vicinity of St. Augustine, have you (or other readers here) ever stayed in the Stagecoach RV Resort? We are finding it about $10/night less, although there isn't a pool.
That's good to know! If we were still in the area we would have driven by. We will make a note for next time, thanks!
That looks like a very nice place got a question for you guys are you still using your Anderson hitch pulling the 310 and have you experienced any problems thank you
We love the Andersen, no problems at all!
What do you call those boats you peddle? Peddle Boats. I’m still laughing. You two should book yourselves out at the clubhouse.
Love you two.
Thank you, Chris, we love you too!!!
We are going to Jacksonville in May and staying at a city park. We don't really like corporate owned campgrounds. They are too expensive and campers are crammed together. The mom and pop campgrounds are the best and reasonably priced.
don't hold out on us. what RV parks in the Jacksonville area are quieter and more spacious ??
We didn't find that many campgrounds in JAX at all. State and city parks we looked at had a seven or 14 day limit. Let us know where the good ones are!!!
@@LizAmazing We will be staying at Hannah Park on the ocean. I made reservations for May. This is a city park.
Florida State Forests are also easier to get into, compared with State Parks.
Good to know, thank you!
Great review. We'll be in the area next February and now we know where we're staying. Do you remember what site number you were standing in or what site number you occupied? That would be perfect. Do you know if they will let you reserve a particular site? Thanks for sharing!
Yes, they will let you choose your site and you can book up to a year in advance. We were in 162.
PLease research the Amelia Island Car SHow!! It’s awesome!!
We are there right now!!! 🚗🚙🏎🚖🚘
$1500 a month? Is that normal for you guys? Seems high to me, but what do I know. I’m more of a boondocker.
Brian and Cindy "xtreambydesign with passion"
There are some big pull thrus one row from the lake, you’d be fine there but that is close to the highway.
@@LizAmazing Don't mind the highway noise. Have had a refer running behind my large car for almost forty years. Probably won't be able to sleep. Too quite 😂😭
Advertisement was stuck so I couldn’t see your video. Darn as I’m living ft in Florida and could maybe tell you a couple places that have spots available.
Ugh. Maybe refreshing your browser will let you watch?
Jacksonville too cold in the winter for me
It can be chilly- but nothing like up North!
Not what we expected | No Florida campground reservations in January | Suwannee River Rendezvous ruclips.net/video/A5KvGtHV8mQ/видео.html
Training is going well: 92 miles a week ago, 98 miles last week. Total miles over a few rides. Are you going to bike with us on either of the week tours?
Sorry to hear that it was bought by Sun Communities. That will probably be priced out of reach very soon.
We'd never heard of them before. Sorry to hear that about pricing. They use dynamic pricing (like the airlines) so if it's close to the check-in date and they are almost full the prices will be higher. At least you can book a year out, so that might be the plan. Thanks for watching!
Hi Liz! Hi Paul! 👋🏽
Hello from Elizabeth 😎 & Fritz 🐶 in Marathon in the FL Keys! ☀️🌴 I’ve followed you for years & finally sent you an email. (2 actually) 😉
Enjoy your stay in Flamingo Lake Resort! 🦩It looks wonderful!
Hi Elizabeth! Just saw your email, I feel like we are friends already! ♥️ I sure miss having a dog. Your Fritz looks like such a sweetie! Please do visit with us in the Keys!!
@@LizAmazing Helloooo! Awww thanks so much! I will definitely visit when you’re here! I always had a feeling one day our paths would cross & we’d meet! Didn’t think it would be right here where I live! You will love it here!! ☀️🏝
Sorry we missed you, my wife and I are minutes away from where you were.
Oh man, what a bummer!
@@LizAmazing, would love to see you two next time your nearby if possible.
I guess we lucked out with the weather! February was perfect!!
Check out Georgetown Marina, fl
Good to know, thank you much!
What do you call those pedal boats. Answer : Pedal boats 🤣🤣🤣
Exactly!! lol!
Damn that's expensive! 😲
We just did a video about another campground, super fun, and just $500 a month! Check it out: ruclips.net/video/A5KvGtHV8mQ/видео.html
@@LizAmazing
$500 a month?! That's crazy.
I don't even get $900 a month in disability. 😲😟
@@Stephanie-vn6ir Then that wouldn't work for you. $500 is the cheapest we've found for one month rent BUT if you pay a year in advance, Carolina Landings in SC charges just $2400 a year- can't beat that!
You should invent a water e bike, you'll make millions.
Ooh! Let’s do this!!!
I’ve been to Jacksonville once for a Supercross event in 2011, beautiful place! ✌🏼❤️🙏🏼 great review guys
Thanks Mark, glad to have you with us!
Problem is they told us they only book 30 days out.
We called last year trying to book the winter there and they told us that, too. They made it sound like the computer wouldn’t let them do it, so we thought it must be some glitch. I know you can book one year out but it must not be for monthly. Strange.
Can you safely ride your bikes around the area where the campground is located?
Great question! No. There is a great bike trail not too far, Jacksonville-Baldwin. There is a section currently under construction. We biked in St. Augustine, Amelia Island and Jekyll Island while we were there. Good rides!
@@LizAmazing I saw them on your riding channel, too bad you cannot ride around the perimeter of this lovely campground.
@@peterfernandezjr5914 Believe me, we tried! Do not recommend. We did ok in one direction but couldn’t find enough bike lane. The other direction (left on Lem Turner from the campground) was a death wish!
@@LizAmazing I hate when I ride my e bike and the bike lane just ends with little or no warning, then what do you do? Jump on the sidewalk or risk becoming part of some giant SUV's front fascia?
@@LizAmazing y'all hit some awesome spots!
Does Harold’s have chicken gizzards?
Most likely. We saw turkey necks!
Hello!! What campsite number did you stay at?
Hi Renee! This video is about Flamingo Lake campground in Florida, we loved it!
@@LizAmazing Thank you and I loved your video! I just wanted to know at what exact campsite number did you stay at? I didn't see that you mentioned it in the video. Thanks!
@@reneekitterman6020 Thanks! We stayed at 177 and 162, both lakefront. Both were awesome!
With all the happenings in Ukraine and rusky lately, the price of gas may get very expensive, so you should strongly think about staying at that rv park or the next suitable one much longer than you normally do, to not bankrupt yourself with gas prices...our gasoline is up by 25% in two weeks!!...
I know it. Paul is stressing out about it. But our next few months are in Thousand Trails campgrounds where we stay for free. So that’s where we’re headed. By the way, I almost pushed Paul into the lake at the end of this video- in your honor! 😀
@@LizAmazing 🤣🤣🤣

It was certainly perfect the month of February! I imagine if you were from the north it would be ideal.
